[Employee of bestbuy] HDDs are known to make noise. I didn't expect how much and how loud it would be. It's VERY fast for an HDD and a good price, but if you don't want to hear what sounds like a gremlin can't scratching a metal grate this drive is not for you.

It works as advertised and perfect for the price i can think back to the last time i built a pc and remember thinking theres no way to fill a 1tb external hard drive now I fill a 1tb drive in minutes

These WD "Black" hard drives are extreeeeemely reliable. I have purchased MANY of them over the years. But here's a tip: keep your computers protected by UPS's, so they are not subject to fluctuations in current. I'm pretty sure that's why mine have lasted so long.

Needed a drive for bulk storage and this is surprisingly powerful and has sustained data transfers of 250 Mb per second reading and write, which is impressive for a physical rotating disc hard drive!

The disk is working flawlessly so far, it has good writting speed with large files, not that great with hundreds of files, but it is to be expected. Also, it's a fairly quiet drive, so I'm happy with it.

NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS 11

I am giving this a low review only because BestBuy does not show which versions of windows that this is compatible with.. I ordered this on the BestBuy website which states “compatible with windows”. When it arrived to the house is when I see on the box that it is only compatible with older versions of windows. I will not work on windows 11.

Slow and not super stable.

It probably goes without saying because this is an HDD, but this thing is sloooooow. I've also had several crashes in Windows that didn't occur under similar situations in Windows on my SSDs, so I suspect it's to blame. Price was relatively good for the storage space, but there are far better deals available if you can wait for shipping.

Failing and Freezing My Computer After 3 Months

I bought this 3 months ago, and up until last week it's been okay. A little noisy in the computer, and slow to play games from. Recently, however, it has been causing my pc to freeze soon after booting it up. At first I thought it was the GPU, but after removing this hard drive, my computer has been running perfect. Not happy.

Box the drive came in looked beat up. Installed in in my computer and it makes all kinds of chatter when writing. My old computer has western digital Red drives and and one black. They are super quiet
