I installed this in my Asus ROG Ally. The hardest part was finding a reliable way to back up and running after swapping the drive. I ended up putting the original drive back in the Ally and installing Macrium Reflect, and then using an m2 USB enclosure for this drive, and then copying to it. It took about 3 hours for the copy. But then I was able to swap the drive and it worked perfect. Honestly, I haven't noticed a huge boost in performance; though I ran crystal disk mark, I forgot to run it before I swapped, so I couldn't compare performance... and I didn't feel like swapping back. I also installed WD Dashboard hoping to find Gaming Mode settings, but it doesn't appear that is available. I suspect it's just a matter of firmware/software update for that to become available. The dashboard does have other tools and insights available, so it's still a worthwhile install. With the Ally, if you hold the Volume Down button while starting up, you can enter the BIOS, which lets you start system recovery, which will download Windows and all the Asus software so you can start fresh. This is the other way to get started with this drive, but when I tried I kept having issues with it getting stuck at various steps. Overall, I'm happy with the drive, performance is at least on par with what it was, and the extra space is very much welcomed.

Worked great for my steam deck and when we got asus rog ally's we stuck with this brand. They were easy to swap out and install the new drive.

While the Geek Squad took a pass on doing the installation, it wasn’t hard to do as a DIY job. The hardest part was making the backup drive. The system recognized the new drive without any problems, and the data retrieval rates were slightly faster than the installed 256G drive that cane with the Surface. If you want a reasonably priced upgrade that you can do yourself, I highly recommend this SSD. I suspect that it will be a durable drive from WD.

Not much else to say, never had an issue with and WD black products. I had to upgrade the storage in my rog ally since they have self destruct their sd card readers. Process of reinstalling the os and all the software is easy on the ally. Speeds are good I'm sure it won't matter what handheld pc you have these will do, you can save money buying WD vs samsung and i doubt anyone will be doing anything on a handheld pc that you'd see a difference in read write speed.

great speeds and was able to easily install it into my rog ally! The only downside I ran into was I wasn't able to use the free backup/cloning software from WD with this drive connected to my m.2 to USB adapter from Insignia. I had to use a different software to get it cloned.

Installation was incredibly smooth, and it was a massive improvement over an HDD.

The WD Black SN770M SSD was easy to connect to my laptop using a separate dock I had purchased with a high speed USB-C connection for portability, Once formatted, I had immediate use of its 1 TB storage. The component is very fast.

I originally bought this for my Surface Pro 8 but it ended up not working out because it was too new of a SSD that the Surface Pro 8 didn't support. I wish I could have used it because it was a great price. Western Digital makes good drives and I trust them (except for their cheaper Red HDD drives, don't get the newer ones).

Swapping in the WD BLACK SN770M for my ROG Ally turned out to be much less intimidating than I expected. The Ally walks you through reimaging your drive with its Cloud Recovery tool, so once the new M.2 is seated, you’re back in business quickly. Performance-wise, this upgrade is night and day. Games launch faster, levels load quicker, and even heavier titles feel more responsive. For emulation-heavy workloads and multitasking between game clients or utilities, the boost is tangible. For its price, it’s absolutely worth it if you want that extra speed and storage headroom—especially in a compact handheld environment. Just note it’s a high-performance drive that will run hot under sustained loads, so good airflow or thermal design in your device helps.

I screwed something up while trying to copy over my install from SSD to SSD, But I don't think that was any fault of the drive itself. Would the new SSD it runs much smoother and I have way more space!

The WD Black M.2 SSD 2230 is fast, reliable, and easy to install. It’s suitable for gaming, storage, and everyday use. Its solid speed and short loading times make it great for gaming and everyday use. Setup is simple, and it fits perfectly in smaller devices like handheld consoles and compact laptops. It’s durable and handles heavy use without issues.

Used to upgrade a Steamdeck. Installation was super easy, and took no time at all. Very fast read/write speeds for an SSD this size. I'll probably buy another when I buy my son a deck as well.
