First off, I want to mention one thing. Best Buy, in a very "clever" way, lists this drive under a different model number than everyone else. It's the same exact product as say, Amazon sells, and bestbuy.com even links to the Product Sheet from this drive's page that show a different model number than BB lists it under. What does it mean? Well the drive is exactly the same, but if you do happen to find a cheaper price, as I did, BB will 100% refuse to match it because "it's a different model number". Very slick. And this is not the only item they do this trick with, so be careful when you shop, is all I can say. However, as tempted as I was to give this review a lower rating because of the issue described above, I can't penalize an excellent product like that. I used to be all about Samsung SSDs, and they're still good, but I happened to have a picky computer, that seems to always act up with Samsung drives, even thought they do work fine in other devices, but WD work perfectly. So I switched to all SN850X drives in my system, and the 4TB was the latest addition. No issues at all. The temps are good with a motherboard heatsink, it's fast, of course, and it's a good deal, when compared with its closest competitor, the 990 Pro, I believe you're getting a better, more reliable drive from WD, at a slightly lower price. I recommend it 100%.

Very easy to install and format. Quick speeds, not too hot, would recommend

I got it at Christmas on Black Friday sale thing and it was a really good price 229 for 4TB can't beat it. You don't have to get the one with the heat sink that's specifically made for the PS5 it's just overpriced with the heat sink and with the PS 5 you know guarantee and all that stuff and the logo not worth getting it just get the regular one and get your own heatsink the best heat sink to put on it is the Sprint heat sink it actually is the cover of two so you don't have to use the stock cover heat sink is the cover and it's thick aluminum with copper pipe to cool even better. Now I have 4 TB of storage and great speed so can't complain if they come out with an eight terabyte at a decent price then I might upgrade but other than that it's good for right now. If you get it at a very decent price I would definitely get that one or the Samsung 990 Pro that I bought too. So on the Western Digital 4 TB without heatsink definitely I must buy at the right price when it's on deep discount Sale price. If you're looking for a 2 TB I would recommend the crucial t500 with heat sink

I was originally contemplating buying the Sand disk pro but, after I heard about the problems that they had with those. I opt to get the WD Black. I thought the price was very reasonable for a 4 telebyte SSD. Installation was a breeze. Loaded up the operating system and all my files. And it's running very smoothly and fast. I couldn't be happier.

Incredibly fast and “fairly” priced SSD if you can catch the sale. Not single sided so if your planning on putting it into a thin laptop like a razor blade etc you’ll have to cram it in a little bit or put it in memory slot B so it doesn’t warp anything. It’ll fit but if your really looking for a single sided chipped SSD go for the faster Samsung one

Bought this ssd for my music studio use. It provides good speed (5800 to 5900 MB/sec) when paired with the OWC Express 1M2 80GB enclosure on Thunderbolt 5 connection. Did need to reformat for Mac but that was quick and easy. In normal use it runs cool to warm. In heavy loads when I transferred 1.4TB of software libraries, it got hot. Overall, very happy with it so far.

Where others fell short, this SSD smashes through the competition. It's incredibly fast and a super easy install. WD has some priority software that helps you monitor the health of your SSD and they have free software to copy your data. NOTICE: This thing does NOT come with the screw needed to secure the SSD into place. You'll need to find one yourself or use your old one.

PS5s like this storage but many discount the drive as it doesn't have a heat sink. Super easy to install, the PS5 OS will immediately detect it on powering up and set it up in just a minute or two. You can get a heat sink separately, but my console isn't on for more than 4 hours at a time, so for me, no heat sink necessary.

No issues whatsoever so far, and it’s incredibly fast at writing and reading. Doesn’t come with a heatsink, but my mobo had a built in sink for the first slot.

The simplicity of having a single storage disk makes everything easier, especially considering I will probably never need to add another disk because this SSD has 4TBs. It runs extremely fast, and I’m happy with my purchase.

I’ve been buying WD for a long time. Never once had issues. This 4 TB NVME is both fast, efficient and a decent value for today’s computers. It’s not a pci 5.0 offering blistering file moving capability, but most people don’t move data at those rates regularly, if it all anyway. Massive overkill in gaming at the moment as well. 5.0 units also generate more heat, and I think in another year or 2, the heat and prices will come down making them a better value. This will make them do what the 4.0 units like this one are doing today. Offering value and still, outstanding performance. The 8TB units are coming down in price but are a healthy chunk of money to purchase. There is more of the mid range market at 4TB, which more will gravitate to. Overall? Buy this if you want great storage and want to take up less motherboard nvme slots doing so. Additionally saving more money today, and down the road. 1000% recommend.

Got this for my laptop specifically for video editing. Extremly reliable easy ti install. With a large drive you gaurentee speed where as an external will annaliate the system dude to the use of power it requires from the computor to boot an external drive.

You get a ton of space on this NVMe SSD hard drive. At the same time, it is very, very fast. We are using these over all the other popular brands from now on. Super impressed with the performance. The price is right as well. We highly recommend this hard drive.

So it is fast like any good Gen 4 NVME drive. Nothing all that shocking there, but for the plsale price it is amazing. You will not beat it at 300. I use 0 sata drives in my computer so this is a life saver in terms of storage.

Very fast! The cache is super nice. With a couple of these I have more space than I know what to do with

Great NVME SSD. Read speeds are as advertised. Have had no issue with this drive at all. I've had it both my PS5 and my PC great drive for the price. Would definitely recommend. Can't beat the performance.

I've bounced between Samsung and Western Digital for years but I prefer WD in the end. They are consistently cheaper than Samsung and are genuinely more reliable. I've had the SN850X 4TB for a while and bought a second one to expand storage. Absolutely solid drives.

Great performance and storage. I got it while it was on sale so the "per tb" price was low. I recommend getting a heatsink for it as they do tend to get hot during use.
