Excellent HDD
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used 1TB, 2TB, 3TB and now 4TB BarraCuda drives. "ALL" of them are still functioning fine. These are excellent hard drives.

Significantly less than 2 TB

This made it difficult to back up my Toshiba drive, which was 1.99 TB. I realize that a drive is never quite as large as it's advertised to be, but a difference of 200 GB had a significant impact on this product's usefulness to me.

It Happens
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this drive at the local retailer. The original drive was DOA. The issue was consistent with someone dropping the box onto the floor and just putting the box back on the shelf. I made the mistake of grabbing the one at the front of the display. I brought it back to the store and they were very apologetic. I went a grabbed a new one from closer to the back of the display, installed it and had no issues with it since the install. Drive is solid and the service was great during the defect exchange.

Backup drive

I got a hot-swap drive bay so this unit can be removed easily and stored in a safe place and only brought out when it was time to back up the main machine. It's a WD hard drive, made in Thailand. They work.

Defective
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Defective hard drive after attempting to transfer files for backup. Had it for a couple months so I’m outside the return window. Seems there’s a reason is not currently on shelves anymore.
