I like these drives because they are compact enough for easy portability and can power off USB, yet have better capacity (and seem more reliable) than USB flash drives. I bought a bunch of them to use for off-site backups, where I store them in places far from my home (my desk at work, a safe at my parents' house) for optimal disaster recovery. I've been using these for quite a few years, from when 2 TB was the largest available size, and I've never had any failures.

I bought this to add storage to my PlayStation. I've never needed external storage with the system before, but my boy is taking up more and more space, so it was time. I was a little worried that it wouldn't run smoothly during gameplay, but honestly, this thing has been almost completely seamless. I plugged it in and it was pretty much good to go. I haven't noticed any lag playing games that are stored on the external drive compared to that stored internally. Super slick!

Received it and plugged it in, did not use any of the stuff that comes with it. Just did a quick format, checked the capacity and proceeded to load 1 terabyte of data on it with no issues. Seems to be a solid drive. Would definitely buy another in the future.

So glad I bought this. I have an older laptop that is starting to get to the end of its life. I didn’t want to lose all my files/music/photos, etc. I also wanted to get some of the photos from my phone saved somewhere else to clear up a bit of space. This hard drive was great. I went with 5 TB because I have a lot of stuff and also want to have room for more. It was super easy to use, and it’s small enough that it will store very easily.

Well if your going to back something up you best get something small easy to move around and store. So far I've bought about 8-10 of these drives of various sizes from 2TB to this 5TB. They are all still working, (One 2TB drive has some problems copying/reading but still spins up, don't use it anymore.) Some are over 9yrs old still running. To me I don't like the cloud, a home network is better (unless your house burns down ><). $220 gets you 5TB of storage no fees lasts about 8+yrs, wasn't possible a few years ago. $220 cause you need 2 drives, make sure you back it up ;O) you don't want to ever loose 5TB of information.... "EVER".

I love this external drive. It's small, but holds 5gb and does not require external power, it gets power from the 1 USB port it's connected to. I've had 4 of these drives for at least 2yrs and every one of them is still running perfectly, so I consider them reliable. They take up very little storage space and easy to connect and use.

I use a great deal of storage with my computer. This 5TB portable is ideal for carrying those files and apps with me. It's relatively small in physical size, but it's a giant in capacity! The price was very reasonable as well.

The drive does it's job. I use them for movie storage and I have 6 of these WD easystore drives, the oldest is 4 yrs old and all are running great. I don't baby these drives at all. I take them on the boat to watch movies while fishing also camping etc. The only complaint I have is WD's hiding of what the magnetics format is. Whether it is recording in CMR, PMR or SMR matters but that info is hard to find from WD.

Fantastic product. Ease of use, compatibility is genuine as described, no glitches, able to handle a huge amount of data, no slow start up! Transferred over 700 CD’s still well over a half of storage space remaining! Love love love it!

Upon buying the external hard drive I was in search of a device that was simplistic in its functions and would deem user-friendly for someone who wasn't entirely computer savvy when it came to hardware. I wasn't pleasantly pleased with this purchase as it exceeded my expectations. It took about 3 minutes for me to configure the device and start transferring over files. I was also surprised by how much storage was left remaining after I had transferred over almost every file on my computer. I was shocked to see the storage capacity barely moved a notch. I am very pleased with my purchase. My computer now runs much smoother and with less interruptions and stalling issues. I fixed my issue without having to buy a whole other computer. This was definitely a great purchase.

The product itself is awesome and more than I needed but will serve me for a long time. The best part was the help I received from Michael in The Geek Squad and the advice and knowledge he provided for what I needed to have done. Exceptional employee!

Superior performance and great amount of storage for the price (on sale) This drive has operated very well and does not need to be plugged into an outlet to work. Comes with a USB 3.0 cable and loads its own software. Great portable hard drive, small, but high capacity.
I would recommend this to a friend

Great additional storage. This little portable drive is lightweight, small, and easy to connect and begin using. At 5Gb it stores more than the casual user will probably ever need. I use it as a primary physical backup drive for my main desktop. The portability allows me to take all my files anywhere I want to. It's is fast and very reasonably priced.
