Before the purchase my concern is that the heat dissipation might be an issue. Probably I should buy the clumsy hard driver with exteranl power cord. No, you need that. This portable harddrive is good enough for regular customers unless you are transferring 5T files here and there every single day.

Excellent value but IS a SMR hard drive

Please keep in mind this is an SMR hard drive and it needs time to reorganize data after larger rights or it will seem like its dieng and slow as hell. If you are moving media files to it, just give it time on idle and it will speed back up after some large transfers.

It will read it then go to settings then devices in the ps4 will do the rest. PS4 formats it as application extension data.
