Your photos and important documents are too valuable to rely on chance for safekeeping. Yes, you can use the cloud, but........ why take a chance. Have another backup option. Some of these services where photos and documents are backed up are either shutting down or being bought by bigger entities.

Lots of storage, but may be fragile.

Some people have complained about it being very slow. I'm not sure about the backup s/w that comes with it. I just copy the directories I want to save. With 5TB, I can save many copies of the directories. I have a friend that has a 1TB that has problems. When trying to read or copy files it stops and states that the source AND destination don't exist. Cycling the power brings it back to life. The file transfer is very slow (1KB/sec.).
