Great 5tb external drive. Easy to plug and use. My preference is to reformat and use all availability storage. Will likely get another one soon and archive all my jpg and videos-only using purchased one for backup at this moment.

The HDD works like it should. I had 2 old HDD that were dying so I got this and it works like a new HDD (imagine that). I like the size, the 5TB is as large as both of my old dying HDDs so it is a push as far as space goes. But now I have all of my files on 1 instead of 2 HDDs.

Only a sort time ownership however, I'm happy with my purchase and I bought 2 of these as back drives. I got these on deep discount and will buy this again. I feel these are good value and reliable. These are often on daily deal if these go for $79.99 BUY THEM.

I just needed something to transfer files with my partners after filming concerts. We usually transfer about 2TB back and forward. This was small in physical size but big in data space. And pretty fast.

Using this as a back-up for my Xbox Series X (very easy to plug-and-play immediately), and it's been well-worth it so far. Great amount of storage for the price, and it's a great place to store titles not playing at the moment or not wanting to take up internal storage.

Ive always been a fan of WD drives, most of the backup drives I use are WD. They have always been dependable. This was a replacement for an 8 year old 3 TB WD backup drive that was replaced for its age!

Decided to back up almost 20 years of pictures of me and my wife. Had pictures on three separate hard drives, 10 different cd’s and about the same of 3.5in floppy disks. Transferred all the files over two days and now I have a single disk with our memories. Well worth it!!!!

I have always used WD for external hard drives. I don't even use the hard drives that come on my PC anymore. Everything is run off an external. I even have a back up of a back up. Lightweight & easy to travel with. I would suggest buying a hard case to put it in.

Small light and plug & play. Amazingly compact, similar to my WD 3TB I bought a few years ago. Not much heavier or bulkier. They could keep the same size and weight, even though with 5TB. WD is always my favorite reliable backup tool.

I purchased this external drive to back up for my pictures and videos. With 4 TB it provides ample storage space and for the price. It was a great purchase. Although it’s not an SSD, it works great for me since I will not be moving this this Drive.

Bought this for my PS5 to store all my ps4 games just plug and play, and still have plenty of space leftover for cold storage of PS5 games when I'm not playing them. Hard drive is small and easy to tuck away to avoid unsightly cables.

I have been using this for several months now and it works great. I have been using this for files and PC games and it works great. I would highly recommend to others. *Note: I did get it on sale for a nice price.

it's wondering to have something that is self-powered HD that doesn't take up too much space in a bag or on a desktop. I was glad that I was able to find this HD on sale where they are cheap on the storage size at the time I bought them at.

Great mega storage in a small convenient portable drive. So glad to have all of my photos safe! I am not very tech savvy so I had to have a friend help me set it up on my laptop but once he did that it was smooth sailing for me.

This external hard drive is a great resource and 5 TB is a lot of storage that can be used for all of your files, photos, videos, and memories on your computer. I bought it on sale, so I got the device for a fair price and it has some directions that go with it.
The main reason I gave this product a 3 was because of the challenges I had to go through to be able to get this product to be compatible with my MacBook Pro. The product labels that it is equally compatible with OS X and Windows, but the device would only allow me to back up my entire Mac through Time Machine and not select specific photo and video files. Photography was the reason for my purchase of this device. I am fairly tech savvy, so with a bit of research I was able to get the device into the format I desired, however someone that isn’t really knowledgeable with this terminology would have trouble using this on Mac.
In order to get the device to work on my Mac the way I needed, I had to partition the external hard drive through my Mac and rewrite it with APFS file format to be compatible with the files on my Mac. There are tons of other options you can select, but APFS works best for me. Luckily with a bit of research through Google, I learned how to do this through programs built in my computer, but I could just imagine 75% of other Mac users not being able to figure that out. This was the only device of WD that I could find that was supposedly compatible with Mac, but being only able to use this device to back up my entire computer is very limited.
If you are a Mac user, beware that this device only lets you back up your device through TimeMachine unless you modify the format of the device to do otherwise. It is a good device in all, but just know the challenges that are entailed if you intend to use this device for other purposes. Also another thing to note is the attachment to connect to your computer is through a USB-A connection. So in order to connect it to a newer computer, you will need an adapter to connect USB-A to USB-C.
