Reliable Backup and Storage

Owned for 9 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using these WD external drives for several years now for both off-computer storage, and periodic archive of nearly 300,000 photos and a bunch of archive documents I wouldn't want to lose if my computer suddenly fails. So far, these drives have not failed me and allowed me to recover from archives after several years hiding on my dusty cabinet shelves behind other things I have squirrelled away. I have had poor experiences with other manufacturers, but so far so good with this product. I should warn buyers that when using it as primary storage, it may take a bit longer to open files than when those files are stored on the main computer. Got to be patient.

New brand, new start

I ordered its replacement from Best Buy and was delighted with the speed of delivery. So far, so good. My new hard drive has a much larger holding capacity and I'm hoping that it will have a longer life than its predecessor.
