I made sure I matched up the system requirements when purchasing this product but when I went to install it, it did not work in my system. A bit disheartening.

Old hard drive crashed and this brand of hard drive was recommended to us. Not sure it's solely due to the new hard drive but computer runs painfully slow.

I admit, I just wanted a hdd for my laptop, but this one takes almost 1 minute to boot past the Windows logo. Wouldn't recommend getting unless you don't mind it

Cannot get the laptop to recognize the drive. So I cannot format or install any disk system for a C:\ prompt. Useless.

The hard drive that came with my son's Toshiba C655 laptop died and I replaced it with this drive. Had some issues with bad sectors but I was able to recover it using Western Digital free utilities.

Not much else to say really. We got this particular one because it was a very good price and was the correct type. It is working just as expected.

This is an extremely cost-effective option for replacing a broken laptop hard drive. 320GB is more than enough for most people.

Nothing special about this drive. It is a standard performance hard drive for laptops. It is a good replacement if you don't need anything of high performance or speed to get your laptop back in working order.

    Reconsider Your Options

I bought this because it was literally the cheapest hard drive I could find at the time. Even though Western Digital is a great brand, I'm currently shopping for a different drive from them to replace this shameful thing. It is easy to install (especially on my desktop), like most hard drives, so I can't fault it for that. I didn't have any technical problems installing Windows or anything on it. My problem is that this is SLOW. It is only SATA 2, not 3, which is the latest standard. It is only 5400 RPMS, which is about as low as you can possibly buy in this century. I understood that it wasn't the fastest hard drive, but I didn't expect it to be so unbearably noticeable. From the time I push my power button to the moment I am able to work in my 3D software (Maya) it is about 10 MINUTES on a brand new installation of Windows on my desktop. Even opening a Chrome window takes an extra couple minutes after booting. For a notebook user that only surfs the web, this will work just fine. If you will be opening any bulky software or transferring large files, prepare to get frustrated. My recommendation to everyone reading this, even web-surfers, is DON'T SETTLE FOR LESS. I guarantee that if you spend the 10 or 20 dollars extra on a different WD drive, you will be very happy.

This is the first time I've changed out the hard drive on a laptop. I knew that some hard drives come with installation paperwork but this one didn't. Switching out the hard drives was easy. Installing the software was a challenge. I had to do some research to figure it out but I'm happy with the results. I would only recommend this to my extremely computer literate friends.
