Bought as an impulse because I needed a remote drive for video editing and my preferred drive was not available. The DIT placed all the files on the drive and when I went to edit the drive was locked. No beneficial help from WD support. The DIT could not unlock it either. Only solution was to reformat and loose everything and had to replace all the file over again.

While not the fastest drive this 4tb hard drive is great for storage/backups.

Like the drive overall, but getting the drive to work with my system has been difficult. Due to BIOS configurations, I can't leave the drive plugged in all the time. Every time I reboot or power down I have to disconnect the drive when I power up or it hangs. Apparently it's a common problem. I've tried changing legacy settings on the BIOS, and USB booting, but neither help. On other systems it may not be a problem. When it works the drive is fast and easy to use. Also for the price I feel like the included backup software should have been free, and not required an additional license purchase.

Great Desktop hard drive. Reliably haven't had any problems yet.

Recognized the minute it was connected to Xbox. Only issue constantly on, can't turn off when not in use.

I purchased a Seagate a couple of years ago to use with my Mac and had nothing but interference with it and always made my computer freeze up constantly. This Western Digital works great with my Mac and it was a good price for a 4TB. I LOVE IT!

I bought this as an extra HD for the Xbox One, thus far, i have not had any issues. The drive stays connected and powers on when the Xbox does. Everything has worked exactly like i expected, files have saved with no problems.

Works great, USB3 but still slow as I'm using it on an older laptop. It plays well with other drives.

We've had no problems with this item. It was purchased to download our recorded shows when DISH Network had to change our hopper and joeys. It was great that we didn't lose all the recorded shows when that change happened.

Basically set and forget. Always working and available in the background. I actually bought to store and play my downloaded UltraViolet movie collection. HDX movies play just fine from the device. The PC backups are a bonus.

The drive seems to be solid, the only issue I have is that the outside case felt fairly brittle or breakable if dropped from only a few inches. An External HDD (vs. Portable ie. without a separate power cord) is going to be heavier, but the case adds significant weight to the point of not protecting the drive but becoming a possible hazard if it were to fall.

I own 7 of these disks. Have never had any issues. They are reasonably quiet. I wish they didn't have to have the external DC power supply, but most disks of this type have that.

Tried the "MyCloud" totally useless across a network way to slow read/write, since it going thru their server I connected this one to a new netgear router much better and I get all the access I want and it is something I may secure!!

Plug and play easy setup. Great for disk image and file backup.
