I've seen a lot of devices offering multiple HDD, RAID support, network support etc. In the end, I've had bad experiences with those devices, either loss of data or problems getting my data when I need it the most. This disk just works, nothing special but a USB 3.0 that gives pretty fast transfers for backup.

It was very easy to connect to my Xbox One and works great. I now have way more space then I will probably need.

I bought this to keep my hard drive a little cleaner. Also I like to save my pictures on an external and a flash drive. Double protection. So instead od buying several smaller ones that seem to break and leave me freaking out. I went with this big guy and so far so good! I only wish it was portable.

I bought this hard drive on sale and I can say its very reliable I have tested it with the Xbox one and the games have no lag when playing off of it and so far nothing has gone wrong with this hard drive. This was well worth the purchase.

Havent had any issues yet. I used to always buy seagate external drives, as I loved the GoFlex Interface, as I have macbooks, imac and pc's so being able to change from USB3 to Thunderbolt was nice. However, over time, each one has went bad, 2/4 outside of the warranty period. Time will tell on this one.

Backed up my hard drive and all those photos and music files with lots of space to spare for other computer back ups. Good piece of mind. Considered cloud based back-up but if you ever leave a service do you really get all your files back?

I own 4 WD external hard drives, all of them reliable, even the ones over 5 years old. I never use the software that comes with it. I manually back up my files. I believe that's why they last so long. The only reason for 4 stars is they go to "sleep" often and it takes time to get it moving again. (We're talking 30 seconds or so) where as my one and only Seagate works immediately when I click on it even if it's been an hour since I touched it.

Great size and great price. Easy to setup. If you are getting this to add to an existing WD external drive on your network you may have to adjust settings due to computer assigning both drives to the same signature identification. Just Google the problem and it is easy to fix and now works great.

The product is very good holds very large amount of data and is pretty small not to take up to much space.

This is a great storage device, it had a very good price relative to other storage options. It was super simple to use and backed up data extremely fast. I backed up years of pictures, music and computer files in a matter of minutes.

I'm a video producer and working with tremendous amount of data. my smallest video editing project is about 50GB. the biggest one I've ever been working with is about 1TB - those are for short commercial ads. this is great for video editing, I use FCP X, and it is working seamlessly as my internal static Hard drive from my Macbook pro with Retina display. And it is such a huge capacity for those who wants to store their family pictures, videos and datas.

I bought this at the time it was going on for sale online at Best buy. I had a previous 500 gb WD My book and was in the market to upgrade to a 4tb WD My Book for more storage and a 4tb is more than enough for standard use. Had been a My Book customer for a long time and will continue to use it.

It was enough storage to back up the computers in my home. Easy to use and got it at a great price.

Easy to use, easy to set-up. Of the back-up storage available this was the best value per dollar spent.

I used to be very open to which brands I would trust my data too... well that has changed. Lets just say that the only brand I have had good luck with is western digital nearly all other brands have given far less reliable drives and also terrible customer service when those drives died.

The my book is a good drive especially for the money. However, it is important to note that the drive does not shut off. The drive enters standby but doesn't power down. In standby mode the drive's light continues to blink which is very annoying based on the location of the drive.

I purchased it because compared to similar hard drives, the price was good and it works great.

The product is easy to use & has a large storage capacity. Perfect for keeping my pictures on.

I purchased this external hard drive after maxing out on my 2 TB WD My Book. Every WD hard drive that I have purchased in the past has always lived up to its name. This was no exception. For the last 9 months that I've had this, it's done an incredible job of backing up my files. Working with a lot of media files can rack up space on my internal drive, so this is perfect for storing all those pictures, videos, and music. It is a fast, quiet, reliable external hard drive. I would have given it 5 stars if it hadn't lacked a physical on/off switch. I have it plugged into a powered usb hub and the moment I turn the hub on, it always mounts the hard drive automatically onto my desktop, even when I don't need to access it. I would rather have it off when I don't need it and on when I do, but in this case, it's not possible unless the power is unplugged/plugged in. Other than that, the WD My Book is a solid external drive.
