Super fast USB 3.0 interface, very please with performance. Noise is reasonable. I do wish that there was a weight in the base when set vertically.

I purchased this device so I could back up on my goPro video and miscellaneous pictures. A must-have for backing up and storing information all in one place. Set up was a snap. Just plug-and-play.

WD - My Book 4TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive is perfect!!!! Its connected to my XBOX one and have successfully all my content to it. It Great and reads data at great speeds. I love it!!!!!

Bought this to back up my external 4GB USB3 G Drive. Don't know which is faster, but the new Western Digital My Book is way more quiet and much less expensive. I'm good with my purchase!

I bought this to backup and hold data for my new iMac 27-inch Retina computer. It has a 512GB SSD so I figured allowing 2GB for Time Machine would be plenty to back this Mac for a long time. I had to format and then re-partition the hard drive to get it ready for the Mac. It comes setup as an NTFS drive for Windows. It's not hard to reformat on the Mac. Just use Disk Utility in your Other folder and erase. You'll have to specify what format you want to use (Mac OS X, Journaled). When you partition, may sure you check GUID Partition Tables in the Options or you might get an error and it will stop the partitioning. Now, whether this drive will last very long is another question.

This is not the first Western Digital MyBook drive in the 3 - 4 TB size and probably won't be the last. I have purchased other brands that have failed but WD MyBook drives seem to last.

This is a great backup drive, easy to use. Just plug it in and go...lots of storage space and a great price.

I have several WD personal external drives and was going to get another and thought I would go for the My Book as it was 4TB and only $30 more than the other I was looking at. Glad I did, backed up my 2 laptops and my desktop and cleared off one of my personal portable drives. I still have room.

I bought this hard drive in order for my father to have a constant backup of his PC. So far it has been quite reliable. I wasn't keen on the fact that you seemed to have to use their software to format the drive, but there are work arounds, and it's pretty straightforward if you're not a power user.

Hooked it up add extra storage for my xbox one. Games run at least as fast as before. Haven't had it for long enough to judge longevity.

Purchased to replace a 1TB portable hard drive that died unexpectedly. Transferring files is quick, especially with a USB 3.0 port. Best to place in an area that's flat and is easy to get to. You don't want to continually move it to prevent drops, etc. I don't foresee using up the 4TBs anytime soon.

I have several other external drives--all but 1 are WD--and I wish that 1 was a WD too. They all work flawlessly. I am a happy camper.

I have had good experiences with all Western Digital external hard drives and would recommend them to others. This one is quite large and is useful for upgrading storage backup of images.

This drive is fast! I back from my system that has an SSD in it and this drive does wonderfully over it's USB3 connection. The WD tools are a bit antiquated. The drive encryption is a joke but other than that it's a great value!

Needed an external hard drive for saving files to at home. This was a great hard drive and easy to setup. Simply plug it in and it works. Even worked for saving games with my Xbox One.

Very glad I purchased this unit, it stays very cool even under heavy load (I bought it to connect to my Surface Pro 4 for games and music, and it runs pretty often). Worthwhile buy!

We bought the WD 4T My Book as an archival drive - a back up to the back up. It replaces a Seagate NAS which lasted a whole 15 mos. The My Book is fast, it's quiet and there's a ton of space. We are just beginning to use it and all it's features - there are many! I like the fact that, even though it has its own power supply, the unit turns on and off with the computer. This makes back up seamless. We don't have to remember.

Great amount of TB for the price. Got this while on sale. Previous HD was a Seagate. Found out the hard way that those HD's can't handle a bump or two. Had computer wizards do their magic and extract data from Seagate and transfer to this WD without any issues. Experts told me that Seagate has a high rate of failure. Wish I knew that then. But at least now I have the right brand. Half a year later and still no issues.
