Have several WD drives. Very reliable product, plenty of storage and quick transfer rate

Got this on sale. For the price, an excellent value. I use these as a cheap external backup my clients can use in an offsite rotation. When using this on a server, two things to remember: 1. Unless your server is very recent, it's not going to have USB 3.0 ports. These came to desktops and laptops a lot earlier than servers, so I was a bit surprised that a 2 year old HP Proliant DL380p Gen8 doesn't have these. 2. Windows Server 2008 R2 built block level backup engine doesn't natively support drives over 2TB, even though the file system can access GPT formatted partitions over 2TB. Windows Server 2012 has not issues with this.

Ive had this for a few months and have experienced no problems. Easy to set up, easy to use. I purchased this due to the high volume of positive reviews on a couple sites.

Got it to use as storage device on a computer used as a plex server with over 600 movies there is still plenty of space. Streaming of it to a chromecast works perfectly.

I bought this external hard drive to replace a 1tb I was using on my Xbox One. Plugged it in and it worked right away and now I have plenty of space for the time being.

This is my third WD external hard drive. I keep filling them up and purchasing new ones. They're reliable and are compatible with play station after you format the drive.

So far, I am very pleased and reassured that my information is being backed up which is a huge relief in the scheme of things. Upgrading to 10 and thunderstorms to boot.

I bought to save all my mp3 before my old harddrive crashes. The harddrive was very easy to use and it works perfect in windows 7. I recommend for all your backup needs

I bought this when it was on sale dirt cheap, to replace an old 1TB Firewire/USB 2.0 drive. It came with a new version WD's SmartWave backup software that is compatible with Windows 8.x, something none of my other WD drives came with (old versions of the software didn't work with Windows 8.x). So far the only complaint that I have is that the power light never seems to go off, even when the computer it is attached to is off.

Good drive to hold every piece of data you have ever collected. I bought this drive over the Segate 4TB drives due to reliability issues I've had with them in the past (Lost 2TB and 500GB). The drive in it is only 5400 RPM, so it isn't the fastest drive but it is reliable. The only future downsides about having such a large drive is when it dies, you lose all your data unless you are redundant about your collections.

I still have WD drives that are 8 years old and kicking. Figured I should make some backups before they do finally go bad. Can't go wrong with spending $25 per TB.

What's not to like about this drive? Western Digital drives have always performed at a high level for me. Lots of storage space and great addition to any office.

It is a reasonable external hard drive. For those not familiar with hard drives, don't worry about the fact it isn't a full 4 terabyte drive, this is typical of all hard drives due to how they are done. Things to look out for is that you will need to reformat the drive if you plan on using Windows' built in backup, it took me a while to realize the issues of using windows backup was due to how the drive was formatted. The speed of the drive is within reason, make sure you are using USB 3, other wise large data will take a bit longer, this is limited by your computer, not the drive itself. It is a little big and heavy as well as having a power adapter, so this is more ideal for desktop computer backup than a laptop or something that is portable.

4TB adds all the room I need for playing games and adding downloadable content to my xbox1. USB 3 is fast enough to make it not even noticeable. A must have addition.

I am an Xbox One owner and I needed an external HDD to hook up to my console so I can store more games. Saw this was on sale for a really good price at the time (it is still a good price, but was even more cheap at the time :P) Setup is easy. I plugged it in and formatted it in no time, the speed of this thing when using USB 3.0 is awesome. So if you need a massive amount of storage for a pretty good price go with this, I have several other WD externals and they still work great :)

I bought this to use with my Xbox One, and I could not be more pleased. It has more than enough room for game, pictures, etc. I would buy again for Xbox One if needed.

Purchased for my wireless home network to have as a network hard drive for anything I feel to use it for and so far it's met my needs and is working perfectly!!!

Not the first time that I buy from WD. Is the to go brand for external hard drives reliability and security. One of the few with password protection and encryption.

This backup drive is perfect if you want to back up your system AND other important files. There is plenty of room for both. Simple and straight forward design.
