What a S-L-O-W USB 3.0 drive!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Even though this is a USB 3.0 drive, at times it copies even SLOWER than a 2TB USB 2.0 drive that I have. I cannot tell if it is my computer's USB 3.0 that is messed up, but I don't have any other USB 3.0 machine. Also the WD software tools absolutely stink! It could not even finish a pared down backup list as a test. I could not partition this drive via Windows 7 Computer Management. Also needed to use the WD tools.

HUGE drive space

When transferring ALL my files over, I still have 73% FREE SPACE. There is plenty of room to grow with all my photos and videos. I have it connected to a USB 2.0 port on my router, but it is still fast. I've only had it for 2 months, so I can't attest to its reliability. My previous 1 TB drive was a WD. It was almost 3 years old and still running perfectly, which was why I stayed with WD when I needed to upgrade.

Great hard drive for image archive

I had a bad experience on the two of the products. I could not access the archive images after about two years. I took one of the hard drive to a best buy store and was told that I might be charge up to $1200.00/each to recover the contents.

Some other brand drives failed their own tests which may take seven hours or so to complete. People should run the tests immediately after such a purchase to assure they have a fully functional hard drive. My only second thought is that I would like it to have been a larger hard drive at a similar price.
