Needed a drive to hookup to my WD MyCloud. This drive connected, and was seen by the cloud w/o a hitch. With the USB 3.0 interface, transfer speeds are great

I considered several brands and sizes to perform periodic backups on several of our PC's at home so not to be so vulnerable to the CryptoLocker computer virus. I didn't want something that has to run continuously because it would be vulnerable to the same kind of attack. This device, and its built-in software, will separately save all the files on the drives of several family PC's. Then when it comes time to perform a follow-up, plug it in direct it to the same PC's files and within a half hour or so it has brought its files up to date with more recent files or new files that have been added. Anything I have chosen to check has always been there and available. Certainly a CryptoLocker attack can occur between a refresh cycle but better to loose a few new files than to be held ransom for everything one has! I'm really pleased with the 4TB Western Digital My Book device.

This is WD MyBook #4. I started with a 1TB(2009), then a 1.5TB My Book Premium Edition II (2010), and then added a 3TB (2011). And now the 4TB because the 3TB is no longer big enough to store my backups. With the exception of the PEII , I have used the My Books exclusively for backing up my main drive(s) using Time Machine. I haven't had a single problem in the 7 years I have used My Books. All of them still work and I plan to continue using them for the foreseeable future.

This is a great unit to backup all of my digital images from my full frame DSLR. The image files are so large that without offloading to an external hard drive, my C drive would be overflowing in no time!!!

This HDD has significantly reduced load times on my Xbox One. Most notably is on Destiny. I arrive at every destination at least 10 - 15 seconds before others arrive. For the speed upgrade it is well worth it.

I've only had this for a short while, so I can't speak to its long-term reliability, but it's quiet and has fast data transfer speeds, so I'm happy for now.

4TB is just what I needed to combine my main drive and several other external drives information onto one drive.

This product is AMAZING, it was so simple to hook up and is much faster than a previous product (Seagate) that I was using. I use it as an external hard drive to my Xbox One and it recognized it immediately.

What can I say??? Its a hard drive, It will take a while before I know if its really any good. I have had fast hard drives and large hard drives. WD, Seagate, Toshiba.. The most important is reliability.. I am not tough on my hard drives I just want them to work for longer than 2 years. I had 4 WD passports that failed on me within 1 year. WD support was great at replacing them but nothing can help when you had important data on the hard drive you lost. Lets hope this book drive last longer.

I bought this so I could do a back up of an HP computer that caught a virus...it doesn't back up everything but I think that's because of a java issue, not the MyBook. It is so much better than the Maxtor externals which have all failed on me.

This is designed to sit at a desk. Not really intended for portable use. Works great with the Xbox one. The Xbox ones does not allow you to partition the drive for multiple use. It requires the full space.

Replaced old hard drive made by different manufacturer. You get what you pay for. Very happy with purchase and is exactly what I was looking for. Buy the best and avoid the rest. Cheaper in the long run.

Needing another storage as the current one I have was filling up. Saw this on Black Friday and bought it because of the price . Has performed well so far. EZ to set up. Time will tell if it lasts.

I ordered this notebook for my son for Christmas. He was thrilled with it! It was mailed to South Dakota, and the packaging was superb, considering how much I paid for this item. It held up well.
