This is the 2nd one of these I have bought! I back up all my computers and photos to one, Then I back up all my photos to a second one! This makes me feel very secure in my photo backups!

This was a great price for a 4tb external drive...I have bought the 1 and 2 tb versions in the past and I have not had any issues. I look forward to using this one in the same capacity.

Never had a problem with any WD device. They are good with their warranties and they make sound products.

I have purchased 2 of these and they both work great. Speed seems fine, I do not have them connected to USB 3.0 devices so I cannot really test the speed. I would definitely buy again.

I actually own a lot of different drives, but always seem to turn to Western Digital. This drive works great, mounts very quickly, and seems to process files fast as well. So far so good.

Great hard drive, a few bumps along the way

I want to start with saying, all the negative that i am meantioning only happened with this drive, i have 5 other WD MyBook drives and have never had a bad experience... that being said: i ordered this drive while picking up a new pc to replace one that being top of the line in 2006 was needing to be pushed to the next level. i have a lot of backed up data (before this drive i had a total of 9TB of external backup on my pc) and this drive was intended to take a 1TB and a 2TB drive and colsolidate them into one. THE FIRST DRIVE came and out of the box had an I/O error in drive management, could not format, could not access, dead on delivery (picked this one up in store) went back to best buy and they were extremely courteous (GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE) and got me a replacement, they did not have one on hand so ordered it off their website. got me next day delievery being elite plus and all THE SECOND DRIVE came next day which was spectacular, this one actually allowed me to boot it up and initilaize it. HOWEVER at first it told me there was a "boot record conflic" and I had to turn the drive on manually in disk management. (normally this should be plug and play) and i had to call customer service, Juan answered the phone and insisted that i register they drive with their system first. (which later i found out i was registered as Juan... he put his only name in not mine) and he got the drive "working" so i tested it for about a day being there was an issue with the first and the install wasn't "typical" and it seemed to be good, and i started moving my data to this drive, about 2TB of data on the drive and it crashed, going back into Disk management its also having an I/O error and required formating, i called WD tech support AGAIN, and stated "the drive is telling me its not initialized but i juse put 2TB of data on it before this happened, is there any way i can recover my data" the tech support rep told me there would be a way with "our software" and walked me through installing WD Ware (which is rediculious to say the least.... a data transfer program instead of just drag and drop wiht the windows explorer softway, not to meantion a extremely cluncky and slow user interface) after about an hour of him odviously reading a step by step troubleshooting guide i get: "i'm sorry sir, it appears your drive is corrupted and neads to be reformatted" ...... that was exactly what i told him an hour and a half before...... so he makes the statement "WD is not responsible for data recovery" and sends me to a list of partner companies that do data recovery from bad drives. the lowest quote i get is 9000 dollars. in short, two defective drives later i have lost 2 TB of data that has been backed up since 1998 THIRD DRIVE!!! finally a good one i took the second drive into best buy angry about the situation and explained it to the customer service rep, who promptly offered to replace it with the same drive, or refund it toward another product. being this was my 6th external from WD and i'd never had this bad an experience before (and its the best cost for a 4TB external drive OUT THERE) i did give WD another shot and the rep replaced it with a slightly better model (7200 rpm instead of 5200 rpm and a 2 year limited warentee instead of a 1 year) for no extra cost. this drive has now been running on my PC for aproximatly a month. i've copied over 3TB of data to it (not moved yet) and there has not been an issue. overall i still love the WD myBook product and would highly recomend their harddrives, but am discused with their tech support.

This drive is a solid buy. The price was great. It's got tons of space. I didn't have any issues with drivers or my Windows 8 computer recognizing it. It's got some included software. The only one I used was to configure the sleep on the drive. If you're using it for streaming your internal movie collection, I'd highly recommend turning off the sleep. Otherwise you'll get some severe delays when initially starting up a movie.

Great External HD that is Idiot Proof

I've waited for several months of ownership before posting. Another quality external hard drive from Western Digital!!! The footprint is relatively compact. The hard drive is fast, efficient (goes to sleep on its own when not in use), and runs cool. My only complaint is the power adapter that came with the hard drive, it is kinda wide and almost covers another outlet on my surge strip. The basic bundled software that's included is nothing special.

I recently purchased the Pebble Steel after deciding that the Apple watch was too expensive and I didn't need some of it's fancier features. I haven't used the Pebble Steel too much yet but it looks good and like it should function similarly to my original Pebble watch which I really like.
