Good storage space for large videos and file for 3.63TB actual space value (vs the whole byte conversion thingy). There also a backup software but I don't particularly like it nor do I need it. I have it set up to back up a certain folder twice a week and it does it job. There an option for sleeping mode or power saving mode where it turn off the harddrive after x minute. The bad thing about this is a 5-15sec freezing to wake the drive.

Plugged it in, formatted and set as the primary drive. Now I have tons of room for games and don't have to wait to re-download a game I had to remove to make room for a new one.

I thought I was done with external hard drive designs that required power outlet, but this one was good for the value. I am definitely a fan of Western Digital, especially, I've never had a problems with any of their products. I was able to score on this one during black friday and I'm glad I did. Love the design as I've had a previous version before and for some reason this one is definitely more easier for plug and play. Had no problems hooking it up to my computer and I can barely hear any noise coming out of it. You can definitely notice the USB 3.0 difference as I'm able to backup my data within hours, especially large files.

I bought this as a gaming storage solution, and its amazing how much more i can save now. I love WD for the quality and care they take in their products no problems or worries .

Decent pricing (I got for ~$130 in early 2015) for a 4 TB external. Read/write speed through the USB 3.0 seems to be fast enough and access times aren't bad when full (I have ~3.7 TB of files on this one and it takes about 2-4 seconds when you open it up to bring up the folder listing)

I bought this 4 Tetrabyte external hard drive (not even available a year earlier) for less than I paid years ago for much less storage capacity. EXCELLENT product, and VALUE

I bought this to use with my Xbox One. I had issues with it at first, and after calling in to Western Digital's customer service line, I was advised that the one I had was defective, and I needed to exchange it. After going back to Best Buy and making the exchange, I brought the new one home and started hooking it up. Needless to say I was wary and very skeptical. I needn't have been. I made two connections (power cord into the outlet and USB cable into the back of my Xbox One) and fired it up. The Xbox One immediately recognized that I had an external hard drive hooked up and asked me if I wanted to format it. I said yes. Then it asked me if I wanted to make all future installations onto the external hard drive (I said yes to that, too). It also asked me to name it (I just kept it named external for identification purposes). And that was it. Super, super easy. I transferred a few games over to see how it worked, and it was super fast and incredibly easy to do. If the external hard drive was making any noise, I didn't hear it. And I didn't notice any longer load times when I played games from this hard drive as opposed to playing from the Xbox One internal hard drive. The bottom line: it's quiet, fast, and easy to use. I highly recommend it for expanding your memory on the Xbox One.

I have several of WD My Books of various sizes. USB 3.0 transfers data at an unbelievable speed. I've had other brands of hard drives fail while my WD drives keep on going.

I bought this hard drive to back up my laptops and PC. Backed up the entire contents of my laptop with ease. I have over 3 TB's available storage remaining. Very easy to use.

I've used MyBook external hard drives before so was familiar with the quality and reliability. Set up was quite simple. I use it for scheduled backups of a large internal hard drive storing a lot of pictures and music. For added security it can be plugged in for a manual backup and then unplugged and taken off line. Even aesthetically fits right in with other devices on my TV, printer, cable stand.

More space than what I'll probably need. Easy setup! Would repurchase again! We also have this same hard drive in 500 gb size.

I love to take photos with my iPhone. My business is very visual plus I love gardens, architecture, design and the natural world. It's not unusual for me to take 200-500 photos in a day. Where do I store them in order to find and/or work with them? It used to be my poor older MacBook Pro. Now it's "My Book!" They're all in one place so I can continue to organize them. Then when writing my blog I can easily find what I want when I want to show "Before" and "After" or "Good" & "Bad" examples. I'm not a techie and this is simple for me to use. It's my third "My Book" external hard drive and they all are working fine.

I have had this HDD for a few weeks now and I am very pleased with it thus far. Western Digital seems to be the best brand to get right now for conventional hard drives, and I must say that I agree with that based on my own experience so far. I am using this as an expansion for my Xbox One, and the unit wakes up on it's own when I turn the console on, and goes idle when the console is turned off. It is very quiet, which is appreciate, and it does not seem to generate very much heat which should prolong the life of the drive. I very much recommend this product to anyone looking for an external hard drive.

Great external hard drive. The easiest to install and transferring files is so simple. Bought this mainly to store pictures, music and important files. Highly recommend.

The Western Digital 4TB External Hard Drive (Black-My Book) has been a very good product for me. I've never had it fail. The last one I purchased, I'm using to automatically back-up my computer, once a month. The W.D. Software was easy to install and updated to a new version, automatically and promptly, with no issues. The Auto-Back-up can be ran Manually also. The drive is a bit noisy at times; but, compared to it's competitor, the warranty is longer and I've had the competitor's drives fail. If you need to back-up music, photos, files, etc., don't hesitate. You won't find more TB for the buck.

This was bought for a external HD for the Xbox one. I got it on sale for a great price, it was simple to connect and use.

Couldn't ask for a better deal. I have never had any problems with WD and probably won't have any with this hard drive.

I purchased this external to replace the Toshiba 2TB that I had previously. I have purchased Western Digital externals before and feel confidant that I'm buying a quality product. In short, the load times are fast when it comes to loading up my games on my Xbox One, there is no lag whatsoever, and with 4TB of storage I've got plenty of room to last me awhile! The only con to the HDD is the fact that it needs it's own power supply. The Toshiba that I replaced was USB powered, so it was a tad more mobile, but I quickly grew accustomed to needing another plug-in when using the MyBook.
