I bought a WD external backup a few years ago and of course it eventually died on me after 2.5 years. At that time even the Mac edition didn't seem so easy to use with time machine. In any case I couldn't believe it didn't last longer so I switched over to Seagate. Surprisingly my Seagate drive lasted even shorter than my WD so I came back to WD hoping things would be different this time. I've only had the drive for a few months but set-up was very simple and it worked seamlessly with Time Machine. I'm hoping it will last me a little longer than 2.5 years but unfortunately I think most external backups just won't last longer than that.

Had trouble with a few prior hard drives...but this one works great with my Mac. Very dependable and lots of memory space.

I am using this external drive to add additional photos and videos for my iMac. It only has 500 GB so the 3TB external drive will give me extra space for iPhoto and IMovie.

I was really impressed with how easy this is to use with my Mac computer. I had tons of photos that I needed to back up and purchased this to do so. I was a little concerned when there weren't detailed instructions in the box on how to use, but once I plugged it in, it connected directly to the TimeMachine interface and automatically backed everything up. I haven't used this long enough to speak to reliability, but for first time use, it's a breeze!

I'm very impressed by the WD My Book. It's fast. Dependable. Quiet. I wish I'd gotten one a long time ago.

It does exactly as is says it will do. It is easy to setup and is quiet. exactly what I wanted.

After almost 20 years of being a PC guru, I finally broke down and bought an iMac from BestBuy for Christmas. I decided to buy the "My Book for Mac" so I can backup my projects via Time Machine. All I had to do was just plug it in and everything worked. It was so easy a Caveman could do it! Wait.. that was a Geico commercial, never mind. :-)

So easy to use and reliable. It's great to use with the Time Machine feature of iMac.

The WD is formatted for Mac so it worked well right out of the box. There was a little set up to work with Time Machine but has a fast transfer rate. Selected this one because my iMac has USB 3.0 but my router is USB 2.0. This external works with both and that allows multiple back ups from connected computers via wi-fi.

This is my third WD external hard drive and each one is easier to use. The set up is quick and so far no problems! My last two HDs were reliable and lasted a long time, so I'm expecting the same for this one. Works great with Time Machine, very easy.

This external HD is attached to my iMac for time machine back-ups. Very simple to set up and a ton of memory for all my photos, videos etc. Unlike my previous HD, this one is totally compatible with recent OS updates and does not unmount spontaneously. Highly recommended.

Easyt to use, great space for Media files especially for filmmakers

The My Book for Mac provides easy and excellent storage back up for all of your important documents. Easy to just let it stand like another book on your desk or shelf. If you worry about losing everything in THE CLOUD or it being hacked, here is your safety net.

I don't know what the price is now, but I bought it for $95 which was a great price compared to other drives. This thing says its for a Mac but it is USB 3.0 so in reality it can be formatted for whatever. I'm currently using it on my XBOX One and it feels like the XBOX One simply has a larger hard drive. no issues with it at all.
