It's a decent hard drive. Nice back up hard drive with lots of space.

The drive has a glitch in it and gets into this constant spin that you can hear. These cheaper ext HD are a joke. Try to contact WD company and was put on hold forever. Not helpful at all. Had experience with Seagate a few years ago with an external HD, same thing exactly. What now?

Self instructing to hook up to computer and begin to work.

I wanted a back up system for my MacBook, and purchased this disc drive to dedicate to that purpose. It was easy to set up with Time Machine, and has worked with no failures. I have only had the unit for a few weeks, but so far, so good. I am using the Time Machine software

I find this product both necessary and beneficial. I don't see how you can have a computer these days without one. This drive works well and isn't slow like other drives I've used in the past. Often I store large files on it and only pull them onto my desktop when I need to. This keeps my computer running smoothly and efficiently.

I only gave this product three stars because I have nothing to compare it to. MyBook for Mac was very easy to install and works without a hitch. It makes a backup of my hard drive nightly. It's easy to access the files, I just don't know what is in which file, lol. I'm not a techno guy.

I would love to see large hd's like this one usb powered at some point, that being said, this is a great drive. I use it back and forth between my mac and pc, and can even do some pretty clean editing on my pc via the 3.0. Its great value for the money and always reliable.

Great with time machine for MacBook Pro. Simple install.

After research I bought this super light laptop for my business. I wanted to be able to carry it around and use it outdoors. I am so pleased and could not be happier! We even had our business partners buy the same ones!!

This works well, but it doesn't have an on/off button. The drive goes on when the computer it is attached to goes on. It seems to drop into a low-power mode when it has been idle for a while, but, since I use this for backups, for security reasons I'd prefer to have it on only when I manually turn it on.

I bought to replace my old external drive that died after 5 years. It backs up my iMac quickly using Time Machine. I also am storing some large videos to free up space on my iMac. Pretty self explanatory.

This is my second purchase of one of these to use as a Time Machine backup drive for a Mac. They just work. The fact that it comes formatted for the Mac is a nice convenience.

It took longer to "unbox" than to install and begin the first backup. It has been in service for about a month at this point and I have nothing negative to report.

I am just now loading it onto my computer to back up pictures but it is a little more complicated than the first one. Too bad they can't create App to upgrade rather than force you to buy new drive. I really liked the old one.

Well I got this so I wouldn't have to worry again about all my data. Yup no more stressing on my pictures or special documents. Buy one or two they were a great deal.

i had bought a WD MY Book for both PC and Mac. It was far to complicated. This is a plug and play compatible with a MAC.

This is an awesome hard drive for anyone needing extra storage space for music, movies, etc. I have connected to my iMac at all times and has not failed me yet.

Everything was smooth sailing from unboxing, to installation, partioning and applying RAID. Up until I reached 70% capacity.....have been running into issues almost daily....Will update if I get it resolved.

I have used WD drive for a long time. This one works as well as any other I have used. I expect the longevity to be the same...years of use!
