3 tb is a good size to store lots of video and music and photos on, but for important stuff, I buy a second one and do 2 identical backups. At 3 years, I get nervous about reliability, but there are very few moderately priced desktop drives I trust more.

Works exactly as stated. Very easy to install. Took now time at all to get up and running

I have a Macbook Pro that is several years old. ALL of my digital photos are stored on my laptop, and my husband got this for me to move them to. I can't install it on my laptop even though it says it is Mac compatible. So frustrating!!

I bought it, thinking it would be easy to install and use. I had to call Apple to get help installing it.

To give the product the benefit of the doubt, I will assume that the reason that it didn't work with my dish hopper is because it was pre-formatted for Mac.

It works great with Mac/Apple but only compatible with Windows 8 or better so had to get memory stick to transfer other computers

seems that my mac mini had some difficulty finding the hdmi signal while booting I plug it in after boot

great speed even on usb 2.0, easy to configure and connect on your network.

Does not work on time machine well. Work ok not the ideal product....

If you have a Mac, then this should be your external drive. . PRO's:: -WD has a solid and proven track record for making hard drives in enclosures that work together, with lower failure rates.. -My Book For Mac 3TB has 3 year warranty vs. My Book 3TB version (2 year), both are the same price. -Quiet. -The ventilation design keep the enclosure cooler. Ample vent holes on top make sense since heat rises. -Works with Yosemite. CON's: -3 TB is the maximum for this version. (But actually I glady sacrifice the added terabyte for this added year of warranty) -Could make the USB cable a little bit longer.

I bought the drive to backup my IMac and does what I wanted.

These are surprisingly sturdy hard drives. If taken them on several intercontinental trips, in my carry on, and they keep going. The mac formatting isn't exactly necessary, since the first part of setting up a new hard drive is to erase it and reformat it. But it is for to have hard drives that say "for Mac" on it. I have two, and one older one that is giving out. Might replace the older one tomorrow.
