It backs up every hour . Nice feature if you need it but I don't need it to back up that often. It was easy to install.

i just plugged it in and turned time machine on and everything just worked

This is the perfect place to store all my photos and videos. I needed the extra room and it was so easy to move them to My Book for Mac. Highly recommended.

This is a good option for backing up your Mac. The speed is pretty good although it is not a thunderbolt connection the USB three has a pretty good speed for backing up a 500 GB drive MacBook. With a 3TB drive, I have plenty of room to back up my MacBook (500gb) and my iPad (128gb) and my iPhone (128gb).

It's possible that this is the best buy that I could have gotten haha.

Doing Digital photography does not take long to fill up hard drives and a need to be able to archive your work is very important and reality today you need 3TB drives or larger and the price on this drive and Best Buys repetition is one reason i purchase from Best buy they stand behind there products and price match. This hard drive has worked out great and terrific speed and performance and a very quiet hard drive which just plain works.

I have had no issues with it and it doesn't take up much room on my desk

If you are in the market for a Time Capsule, but you don't need the wireless aspect, give this a look. Its fast, and a fraction of the price. So far I've had zero issues getting it to work with Time Machine. I plug it in via USB. I didn't want hourly wifi backups anyway with a Time Capsule.

As with all HDDs, only time will tell if it is a good buy or not, haha! For now though, it seems like it's a winner.

I needed a new external hard drive with a larger capacity than my current drive, and after reading quite a few reviews the WD MyBook seemed like the best way to go. Can not argue with the price, it was very sharp and the new drive was very easy to set up and put into operation -- 'Plug & Play.' However... I am a bit disappointed because the MyBook does not work well with the iMac's Time Machine auto-backup system. Indeed, the auto system failed after a couple of backups so that I am now keeping the MyBook disconnected, only plugging it in and doing a manual backup once or twice a week. This is not a problem in and of itself, but not as convenient as it could be or should be. All that being said, this is a large capacity drive at a very good price that is easy to set up and relatively painless to use.

Very easy set up, no issues with compatibility for Mac & Yosemite OS. No problems so far & quiet operation noise.

This was easy to use. Just had to connect the hard drive, time machine recognized it right away. Backups had no issue. I did a restore to another macbook that went smooth and all my data was recovered. For the money it was a great buy.

I purchased this drive because several older backup drives were failing. The WD drive was nicely priced and already MAC formatted so little effort was required to get up and running.

I decided to upgrade to consolidate some of my audio and video files which were stored across several smaller external hard drives. I have 2 other WD My Book hard drives and have had no problems, so I had no concerns about the manufacturer. Also, I recently bought a new iMac, so I can take advantage of the increased transfer speed with the USB 3.0 interface.

Very easy to use, unbox, plug in and use it, just that easy.
