Bought this cloud storage because we wanted to have easy access to large movie, music and picture library. So far, it's worked flawlessly. Very easy set up and has been accessable from all devices.

Was planning on getting a removable drive but decided to go with this. So far so good. Easy to set up and a lot faster than USB over a GB network. Splurge on a new AC router and life will be easier.

This drive has been great so far. Had it installed for a couple of months now and the only reason it didn't get 5 stars is the remote connectivity sometimes hangs up when transferring files from outside the home network. Internally to my home network, the drive works great, just as I had hoped. We are storing all our documents, pictures, music files, etc. on the drive and can access everything from all different types of devices. Just what I was looking for!!

Bought this because I had gift cards to use and a friend recommended it. Was looking for a way to get access to my files remotely if needed. This does the job and was a breeze to setup.

This NAS couldn't be easier to install, plug it in and it will find your network and it is all setup. You'll have to then install the WD software on your PC and check for a firmware update if you choose to. The software is basic but it gets the job done. I thought the BB price of $179 was fair for a 3GB drive. There's also a USB port for adding storage. The software package didn't include a good backup solution, WD wants your $$ for there solution.

I researched NAS devices and WD had good ratings. Setup was (supposed) to be easy. I shopped around and picked this up in June. I waited until I read the manual and watched many youtube videos on how to make this a 'no sweat' effort and generally it was. I had a number of error messages that I eventually resolved. Upon setup completion I was prompted to do a firmware upgrade which seemed to take a long time. Somewhere in the process it was requiring me to buy a subscription to drop box (everything I researched indicated that this was not a requirement). I skipped that and will come back to that later (when I understand automatic backup better). On the 'main PC' that was hardwired to the router, I could see the new drive and did a test moving of a file. Success. I went to another device (mobile) and downloaded the Android app and accessed the file successfully. I set up an automatic photo backup from the phone and when I connected to the in-house wifi, it began downloading. I'm still having problems accessing files from the web. I use Firefox but I get an error. I switched to Internet Explorer and after a Java Update I was able to access the files. I had various error messages, but I attribute this to the in-house network being overworked due to many files being copied. I began offloading files from another (expensive) cloud service and that has taken most of the day. However, it looks like things are going OK. I recommend his unit, but want those that do choose this to know that you'll need to dedicate time to getting things running smooth.

I prefer to have my data backed up on my own cloud service. This external hard drive and the My Cloud service provide that for me. I would not recommend this for someone who has a slow Internet connection or for someone who is "technologically challenged." You will need a fast Internet connection to retrieve your data and you will need to be able to set up a file structure for your data and be able to trouble shoot issues. I do like Western Digital products in general. They work correctly and they have online tutorials for users. Note: I have yet to set up my mobile device to access this product but I don't anticipate any issues.

I BOUGHT THIS 3 WEEKS AGO...I WAS GOING TO GET THE AIRPORT TIME CAPSULE BUT I REALLY DIDN'T NEED THE ROUTING CAPABILITY ON IT SO I DECIDED TO GIVE A TRY TO WD. IT WAS A BIT DIFFICULT TO CUSTOM SET UP BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE...IT JUST TAKES TIME TO DO A RESEARCH ON CUSTOM PROPERTIES....FINALLY I GOT IT TO WORK ON MY MAC BOOK PRO AND IT SEEMS TO WORK WELL ENOUGH BUT FOR SOME REASON I NEED TO USE THEIR OWN WD SOFTWARE TO OPEN AND VIEW MY 1080P 60FPS VIDEOS WITHOUT ANY ISSUE BUT WHEN I TRY TO OPEN THE SOURCE FROM FINDER IT BREAKS A LOT...I GUESS I'LL STICK TO THE WD SOFTWARE FOR VIDEO FOR NOW UNTIL I FIND A CURE TO THAT.

Have owned WD NAS since the first generation, World Books. This my cloud drive is the fastest with better interface. Interface is much faster an easier to navigate then previous versions. Includes user level access with/without passwords. Remote Access is much improved and faster.

This drive has worked perfectly right out of the box. I was happy with the iOS app that it alerts you when firmware updates are needed and you can install them while out and about so no waiting for the update to install when you get home. Drive sharing with guests is a breeze and setting permissions was easy as well. A must buy if you are in the market.

My spouse and I love having our own personal cloud that we do not have to pay a monthly fee for. We can log into our cloud from any where in world and on most devices. My husband uses it to store his old school music and play it in his car from his smart phone. I like using it to store and share photos of our children. Bust thing sense slice bread.

It offer a lot of space and you can access it from anywhere in the world. If you experience some connection drops, just set a static ip and that would fix it.

I was hesitant to purchase but I really needed a personal storage since both my wife and I take many pictures & videos of our kids, setup was easy, but since we had over 1000's of pics including videos it took couple of days for data to transfer. easy to view works great and I would recommend if you are looking for a mycloud device.

This sounded like a great product, access your archived photos from anywhere, share them with friends and family... Get my music on my phone. Nope... Started and the setup was easy, then the problems started. No direct usb wire so you have todo the time machine over the air, worst idea ever after 24 it had only done 5% and several crashes later. Read up online and disabled some of the services that were causing issue (thumb nail daemon and others). Tried again nope, 48 hours and had only gotten about half on 500 gigs, also crashed numerous times. 1. No direct usb in, bad 2. Software for admin looks great but ultimately was over engineered. Example would be a service which runs to creat thumbnails for new files. So uploading a bunch of files takes for ever to complete. 3. Takes almost 5 minutes to restart. 4. Not suitable for backups Only buy this if you want to add files here and there, not to manage an already large set of pictures, even then it's not worth head ache. I returned after 72 hours, you do better running an ftp server on your desktop than buying this.
