This system was highly recommended but is designed for users that are more tech savvy. We have had numerous connectivity issues and adding new pc's. Western Digital Support staff was only satisfactory is trying to resolve connectivity issues.
Would not recommend to novice tech users. Very expensive - could have purchased a less costly unit for our basic needs.

DO NOT BUY the updated model My Home this is exactly what you’ll be looking for if you’ve used any of Western Digital previous products! Works seamlessly on my home network. Going to buy larger hard drives to replace these once I’ve filled them to capacity!

I did not notice any difference between the cheaper version for home that cost far less. I thought I would get better transfer speeds but if there is the difference is not noticable

Drive failed after 6 months. Replacement drive dead on arrival. 2nd replacement had one of two hard drives fail after 2 days. 3rd replacement on the way. Told getting my money back wasn't an option. Lesson learned: Don't buy WD!

Set it up via instructions from WD, nas just looped the registration and wouldn't let me access the drive. Returned it to store, not worth the headache for the price.

I was looking forward to getting a NAS drive for a very long time and after a lot of research I bought the WD EX2 when it went on sale. Although, I am very tech savvy the initial EX2 Cloud setup was frustrating, so I called customer service hoping they could assist me in setting up the product, but the person on the phone was rude and wanted to remote in too my computer instead of helping understand the setup process. I have sent a compliant to WD about my experience and I have returned the product back to Bestbuy.

Access and rendering the content is slow. My idea was to use this as the back up drive for the plex. There is a lag.

I have an external drive that was full so I bought this one so that I can back up more data and have access on it through the app. First, its not as plug and play as they say. If you want more control over this you're going to need to call Tech support (who is very helpful btw) to help you set it up.
Now to the problems. I made 3 phone calls to tech support. The drive continues to disconnect itself from the network. Also if you try to send files over the network, it will take an eternity. For example 5 gigs takes 30 min. Thats just lame! If you plug in an external drive to the my cloud and transfer directly then its fast but thats pointless. I want to be able to access and deliver files through the network.
The app works great, but getting your data on the my cloud is a pain especially since it keeps disconnecting from the network. Overall, don't waste your money. Its not what you're looking for. I think if your a IT "pro" then maybe you can configure this to work the way you want it to work. But its def. not for the average user.
