I love this... it was a bit of a learning curve for me to set up but once I got it the system works great. I have already stored 24,000 photos on it.

I bought this drive thinking it would be easy access from all my devices, forget about that. I am a photographer and I cant even manage my media because the thumbnails won't even load after over 15 minutes of waiting. Idk I mean my files are there as far as I know. Everything pops up just takes forever to load. It will take HOURS to move under 10 gigs... ridiculous.

The My Cloud Home failed on every level. It took years for files to load, and created massive issues on my computer that, three weeks later, I am still trying to unravel. Ultimately, I found it to be unusable and wish I'd never attempted to us it in the first place. The online help is outdated and not applicable in many instances.

Love the MyCloud Home. Yes it isn't the same as a true NAS experience as the MyCloud. But for the Non_techy people in the house it's perfect... set it and forget it! Gonna buy a second because its also perfect as a plex server!

Already have the single My Cloud and really like it. We bought this one for automatic mirror option but you cannot see the other drive to know it is backing it up. Also all the devices on our network would not recognize this device. Guess you cannot have two of them running at the same time.

Not really happy afterwards.
It’s an expensive cloud and hard to set up and use. I think it’s better to pay for a cloud service on Amazon, Google or any other place.

Great product

I bought this WD My Cloud Home Duo 8TB to have the option to store videos and pictures from my cell phone to prevent using apples icloud storage for privacy reasons and to prevent from paying apples monthly storage charge of $2.99 for 200GB or their $9.99 monthly storage charge for 2TB. ugh..
This is a great product. I bought the 8TB and use the 4TB function so the exact same data is mirrored on the other 4TB drive in case one drive crashes. I may never use the entire 4TBs but that's okay as I'd rather have too much available storage space than not enough.
The first concern I have is I don't believe that my pictures are automatically backing up (even though I have chosen an automatic backup) to the WD cloud unless I open the My Cloud app and begin a manual upload and then I notice pictures start moving on over.
Another concern about this product is: while in the My Cloud app, I've notice that for some reason I am unable to play or it takes a while to load my videos that are stored on my WD My Cloud Home Duo from the My Cloud app..

RAID not a RAID

Despite setting up this device as a RAID 1 array (mirroring) the drives reset and deleted all of my files after WD forced a firmware update. WD states they provided plenty of warnings about this firmware update, but this was not the case. I primarily used the device as a local mode from my desktop, but did at least weekly use the IOS application. At no time did WD email me about this critical firmware or send a notification through the application or the web-based portals for the device. After stripping our internet access for a while WD now adds insult by deleting all of your files with their firmware update that they only announced through their community forums. Stay clear of this or any WD or SANDISK product if you value your data.
