This thing is a bit large and clunky (and heavy!), but what do you expect from a product that houses two laptop-sized hard drives in a metal enclosure? Packaging was adequate. Setup on a Mac was seamless. The included software didn't require installation, just execution. It was straightforward and allowed me to configure the device as just a JBOD (with a total of 2TB of storage), or a mirrored RAID (with a total of 1TB of storage). Bottom line - it does exactly what I bought it for: protect my data, in a mirrored way, on two hard drives without me having to do the manual copy/paste process.

I Edit large video Files for my Aerial Imaging Business & this was the perfect answer. I need to have a portable work station & the Macbook air is brilliant but not huge in the Memory department. WD PASSPORT PRO to the rescue. Super Fast to Set up & super quick when working thanks to the thunderbolt connector WHICH by the way is amazingly attached to the device so there is NO looking for power cords etc, it runs of your Mac & connects via the same wire. Could not be happier, & will Definitely be using these in the future once i fill it. Its 2TB so it's going to be a while. Thanks

This is a great external drive. It's fast and has lots of space. The only complaint is the built in thunderbolt cable. I wish it were detachable, in case something happens to it.

I use this drive for Time Machine backups on my iMac. Is is small and quiet and the Thunderbolt interface is very fast.

Although a little heavy, this is a compact drive with high capacity. Speed with Thunderbolt connector is amazing! Easy to set up for dual drives or Raid configuration.

Works great until you been the cable and then if you try to send it back to western digital they don't do repairs and they try to charge you for a bran new unit either don't bend the cable or don't buy this hard drive they repair nothing and will not even sell you replacement parts

Bought this for use with photo editing software and to use it as an external library for images and edited versions.

Stores beautifully with wraparound cord. No AC needed.

i enjoy the speeds. however the mac needed it to be formatted 1st or the driver would not read. now it works fine after format. overall a great product.

I used this external HD for barely 3 weeks before the connector fritz out and lost my data. No power, no access. Luckily, I had another back up. The built-in wire is a vulnerability. It was replaced by Best Buy, but my next external HD will have a separate connector.
