I use to buy external hard drives because they could store more data, but about 3 years ago I switched to only portable hard drives to get rid of the bulky power bricks that come with them. I have only bought Western Digital portable hard drives because they have never given me a problem, so until they do I will stick with them. I have used their 750GB, 1TB, 1.5TB, and 2TB models on various things. From a raspberry pi, to my current pogoplug, and my continued use of backup data. I usually just copy data on this drive and store it in a safe. The computer I use doesn't have a USB 3 port, so I don't get super fast speeds but it is fast enough for my use.

I recently found it necessary to consolidate my large collection of archives of photos taken over the past 10 years using four different cameras. This drive is just the right size for the task. I have a large number of WD portable drives of the 1TB size, and have never had any problems with them. This new drive will provide the space I need to consolidate my various archives, and provide the reliability I have seen in these WD products.

The WD - My Passport Ultra 2TB External USB 3.0/2.0 Portable Hard Drive is a fairly cost effective solution for your backup needs and its 2TB capacity is more than ample for most applications. I found it to be a good performer, appears to be very reliable, is quite compact, and has a solid build quality. I would strongly recommend this drive.

Great external storage. Reliable. I have 20 of them. I use them for onsite uploading & also for at home backing up and storing raw files. Haven't had a single one fail on me after formatting. (1 drive failed, but once I performed my own format on the drive it worked like a charm. Since then I always perform my own format before using drives) Switched to WD after a buffalo drive crashed mid session. (I had everything backed up on my server but I had to redo all the edits I was working on)

I got this on sale and it has been well worth it. I had a 1TB unit, but my computer for some reason requires a 2TB drive for backup since I upgraded. So far it's been very reliable and super easy to use.

This storage has an amazing amount of room and fit my entire computer back-up plus more. It it very easy to setup and use, it is also small so it is easy to store in a safe place.

My notebook had been acting flakey lately and I needed an external drive to back it up. Since the original hard drive was only 240 GB, I did not need a large capacity external drive. The size of this drive was sufficient for me to back up all my notebook computers. The size is perfect for fitting in my pocket making it easily transportable. It's quiet and does not produce a lot of heat. I am satisfied with this purchase.

Provides plenty of storage on my Xbox One. Set up was very easy. Small size makes hiding it behind the console easy. Recommend it.

My 1 year old laptop ran out of storage! I moved my important data to this drive to have more space. Then, my 1 year old laptop decided to need service for the 2nd time! Being without a laptop is not a choice for me, so I bought a new one while the first one was getting serviced. I was shocked! I plugged in that Seagate Drive, my new laptop accessed all my data and I was off and running. It is easy to learn how to use this external drive and incredibly valuable to never skip a beat.

Bought this on sale at BB. WD has become the reliability standard on external hard drives and this is no exception. Unpacked it and plugged into a USB port and it works like a champ. Loaded over 35GB of music files in short amount of time, faster than expected actually. It's fast, it's super quiet, don't hear a thing out of it, super small and portable. Using it as extra backup for important music, pictures and documents. Love the 3 year warranty. Very happy, highly recommend.

This is the third WD passport I purchased. I purchased my first WD passport a few years ago and loved it so much that I bought two more when they went on sale. I prefer to carry small large capacity harddrives like these rather than USB flash drives because you get more gigs per buck and they are not as flimsy and not micro size to the point that you are afraid you might lose it.

Based on the reviews I read, I decided to purchase My Passport Ultra and am so pleased! The berry color is vibrant and fun, and I love how compact/small it is. More importantly, it works terrifically! My backup is much faster than with my previous hard drive, and it was super easy to install and run. The fact that it doesn't need a power supply is the icing on the cake!

I needed an external hard drive for my 500GB Xbox One since I ran out of space because every game is required to be downloaded onto it. It has worked perfectly with my Xbox One so far. All I had to do was plug it in and my Xbox did the rest!

ON sale these are a great bargain BB will price match these. Tough drives built to last. We use them all the time. Get different colors for different uses and people. Makes it easier to keep track of them. We honestly have 80 Passports of varying sizes and vintages. We use them for video capture when we webcast. We travel constantly and are on the road in all kinds of locations. We carry 3-4 with us all the time. These drives get beat up. We have had 4 fail in the 5 years or so we ave been using them. We use these more in one month then you will in 2 years probably.. TOTALLY acceptable lifespan for as much as we use these. They run for hours a day, every day recording or transferring. Not just sitting... If you send them to WD they will send you a new one. GREAT warranty Support.

I needed extra data storage space to back up some videos and photos, so I looked at several brands and models. Decided on this one and so far I am not disappointed. The unit is easy to use and data transfer is very fast. The unit is also very small for 2TB storage space. Very portable.
