I use it with my Mac using OS X El Capitan 10.11.3. To use with Mac, open the disk utility and reformat it. You can partition it to one partition or several partitions based upon how you plan to use it. The external hard drive comes formatted to work with a PC out of the box. I don't have to travel with my external hard drive but it's lightweight and small should I need to do so. I keep it on my desk in a stand that I purchased for my iPhone 6 Plus. I connect it to my MacBook Air when needed. It's a great source to use to backup using Time Machine or to load music, photos, and other files that you don't need to store on your computer which will leave more space on your computer. If you're a Mac user and hesitant about purchasing this external hard drive, then don't be!!

Amazing speed

I seen the My Passport external drive and began to read the reviews online. I then asked a very informative associate and I was sold. Not only does it look sleek but it's very durable. It comes with a 2.0 - 3.0 USB cable and I like the fact that you can encrypt and require a password to open files.
