Plays ISO files and many other types. You will have to upgrade the firmware 1st thing out of box. It would not play ISOs until it was upgraded. Viewing pictures sometimes causes the unit to have to be rebooted. Works well with Windows Home Server 2011 file shares. I like the customized icons you can make on the main menu. Good product for the money in my opinion.

We bought this and a WD My Cloud for my father-in-law for Christmas so he can store all of his DVDs and pull them up on his TV anytime he wants. He absolutely loves it! He said it's easy to use.

i like the WDTV because it functions over wifi and is easy to use. The only comment i I have is the display needs improvement. I sent Western Digital an email stating that the icons on the display are too large and over extend the size of my TV screen. This needs to be remedied.

This is the best media player if you're looking to play multiple formats like .mkv ..... I used to have the Boxee box, but this is a far superior device to the boxee.

I bought this product to stream media from My Cloud to TV. Now I can stream my videos, music, and pictures to my TV effortlessly. This Product has made it easy for me. I would recommend this product and WD My Cloud.

Zippy and attractive interface. Plays almost everything I throw at it. Fairly responsive. Wish there was a more robust tablet app though. It'd be nice if I could somehow browse my home network/shares, select, and play them through a tablet app. Having to use a remote for that is obsolete these days.

I loved the easy setup and the easy to use menu. It found all of my movies on my WHS server without a problem. I was able to stream Blu Ray iso files on wired connection only, not wireless.

This media player has played every video file I have run on it. I love of the other apps that come per installed. Great Product

I put all my movies and home videos on this box it works great and streaming is a breeze wifi works well with it too!!!

Have had an earlier version of this device for some time and it is still working, Using this in a syem being set up for a friend. Functionality has been advanced and use made easier. Looks like it is a great product. Definitely serves my needs.

For years I have struggled to find a suitable media player that would be able to play back the various video files I have on my computer. I was shocked when WD released their latest media player. The thing performs like a rock star and can handle just about any file. The only thing I wish is it had Netflix as one of the apps. But besides that it's a great deal especially at the current price point.

I use this for my kids' movies and it's great for that, but not so much for apps like Netflix. It has Hulu and YouTube, but no Netflix or ConTV. I think most folks would still want a Roku or AppleTV, especially cord-cutters.

First let me start off by saying this unit is great it does everything you wanted to do. My only gripe about it is having to type in your login and password to access your network shared folders that has all your movie stored on it. After a couple reboots the WDTV lost my shared folder and cannot login anymore. It's very frustrating trying to network this unit with a secure network with passwords. If your shared folders are wide open over the network (bad idea) then this unit will connect no problem. It will play movies from the USB port with no issues. Also plays full bluray over wireless G from my WRT54G router to my living room.

Very easy to hook up to TV and external hard drives, I play old videos of my family on my TV. The remote makes everything so simple.

Easy to use and set up....even my dad can use it! Any TV can be a smart TV now!

I did have to reset it a few different times before it would read some of the file types listed on the box. But overall it does play well with most formats and my usb toaster drive dock and my network. I only wish it played flv files.
