Phifer Dawg Forever. Kinda wish he was on the album even more, but understandable that he isn't... While certainly not as amazing as their second and third albums, it's still great to get one last shot at hearing one of the greatest, creative Hip-hop groups of all-time. Musically inventive and entertaining, might even get better with repeated listens.

This is the best Tribes album yet. The messages are strong in current issues and the music is masterfully done. I am really impressed by this album, it really is a treasure for such a long lapse from Tribe Called Quest.

This is probably the last time we'll ever hear Phife Dawg... maybe even A Tribe Called Quest all together.
For being a group that came out in the early 90's, man they still got it. Great album.

18 years later and well worth the wait…

As a lifelong ATCQ fan, I held off hope that perhaps they'd release that one final album they were under contract for with Jive Records. With the years gone by, with false alarm announcements or general anticipation, one skepticized that the hype surrounding its release would far outshine an album itself. Then in early 2016 when Phife sadly succumbed to his diabetes, that hope seemed all but lost. Then surprisingly in late October, Q-Tip announced the release of that new album a mere two weeks later! Now after 18 years with the CD finally in my hands was it worth the wait?
Absolutely.
I cannot put in a review how a lone album can encompass 18 years of anticipation and hype, but nothing is lost on the album; not even with the passing of Phife. In fact, there was a lot more of his presence on the album than I would have expected, including a couple tracks his bandmates made in memoriam. Still the stellar production by Q-Tip & Ali. Even Jarobi, who has never rapped on their prior albums, shows some incredible flows alongside Tip, Busta Rhymes, Consequence, André 3000, & Kendrick Lamar.
I never wanted this album to end, so I think I'll keep it on repeat over the next 18 years. ATCQ forever…

My lord. What a fun album! Offbeat, hyper-relevant, huge range of talent featured on this album, I mean what's not to like? If you're a Tribe fan, or a true fan of lyrical, creative hip-hop, this is your album. Old school attitude with semi-new school feels, while still keeping beats raw and original. According to sources, the arrangements that Q-Tip made with each contributor on the album was that they had to come to Tip's studio to not only lay the track in person, but they had to write their rhymes there. So it lends itself to a bigger collaborative effort. Andre 3000, Talib Kweli, Jack White, Kendrick Lamar, Common, Busta Rhymes, and Consequence among others. This album is charged. Socially, lyrically, politically and just overall. Give it a listen with an open mind and an understanding for who made this album, how it was made and what it represents. It's a powerful and much-needed statement for Hip Hop in a time where the genre needs it most. RIP Phife Dawg. Making this album was some of his final efforts on this Earth.

I have been a ATCQ fan since I was a kid. It broke my heart when they disbanded. For years I hoped that they would bless us with another album. As the years progressed my faith and hope diminished. The final nail in the coffin was when Phife passed away (R.I.P.). So when it was announced that there would be a final album I will admit I was torn. I was happy for the album but I wasn't sure I get over Phife not being there. I gave it a listen and I must say that I have not put it down. Since it's initial release on streaming services I have been listening to some part of it every day. And when it was released in stores I ran to purchase it. You will not be disappointed. I promise!

After a 18 year hiatus A Tribe Called Quest return with what turns out to a posthumous album due to the lost of the legendary MC and group member Phife Dawg. Due to his untimely death in March what was to be a celebration for hip hop becomes a celebration of life and home going for hip hop. This is one incredible album put together by the super talented Q-Tip, Jaharbi, and Ali-Shaheed Muhammad. With guest appearances from the greatest rapper alive Andre 3000, to Kendrick Lamar, Busta Rhymes, Talib Kweli, and Consequence this album shapes up to become pure perfection. I recommend this to true hip hop heads and lovers of great music. Rest in Peace Phife Dawg

Tribe delivers another classic

ATCQ came out of nowhere to save hip hop. Luckily Tribe had this album already in the works before Phife's passing. Lyrically, there's a little bit of rust. That's definitely understandable since it had been 16 years since ATCQ last released an album. Jarobi picks up the slack in Phife's absence. Jarobi, Tip, and Anderson Paak shine on 'moving backwards', one of the albums highlights. There's plenty of other goodies on here as well. 'We the people', 'The Donald', and 'killing season' come to mind. While this isn't a classic in the same vein as 'low end theory' or 'midnight mauraders', it still serves as a reminder as to what real hip hop sounds like.

This is the album that Hip Hop needed for the dreary 2016 election season. Despite Phife Dawg's unfortunate passing in 2016, Tribe reunited and enlisted the help of affiliates Consequence and Busta Rhymes and former group member Jarobi, to craft a classic Tribe album with modern sensibilities. Social issues, politics, Phife's life, relationships- lots of ground is covered on this project. Special guests include legends like Andre 3000 and Elton John as well as relative newcomers like Kendrick Lamar and Anderson .Paak. This is an album that old school Tribe fans will love as well as younger fans. A must cop.

It goes without saying that ATCQ was a major player in the scope of Hip-Hop during it's "Golden Era".
After being gone from the scene for so long, as a group, it is AMAZING to hear how remarkably flawless this album sounds.
Considering the passing of Phife Dawg, his presence on the album doesn't sound forced. Q-Tip's ear for production hasn't lost its head-nodding touch either.
I could go on and on about how ATCQ is one of the greatest groups in rap history, but for those that already know their track record, its not hard understand that this album only further solidifies that claim.

Heard Tribe was dropping a new album and my ears perked. Saw Tribe on SNL performing 2 new songs from the upcoming album featuring Phife (R.I.P.) & an effective Jarobi--who only appeared as hype man on Tribe's previous efforts. Needless to say, Tribe brings the pain: dope production, social message (an element missing in "rap" not hip hop music) & minimal guest appearances. My only complaint is the lack of DJ/co-producer Ali who isn't featured anywhere in the credits. Maybe professional and/or differences haven't been ironed out. All in all, this is a dope effort from a bunch of 40 plus pioneers.

This is quite likely the best Hip-Hop album to be released in 2016, albeit late in the year and several weeks after the deadline for Grammu consideration this year. It's dope, though. These guys are speaking about issues and conditions that adults of a certain age should catch and listen to repeatedly, and the production and lyricism are top-notch. Great collaborations and cameos from Busta Rhymes, Elton John, Andre 3000, Kanye West, Marsha Ambrosius, Kendrick Lamar, Anderson.Paak, Talib Kweli, Jack White, Consequence, and feels like I'm missing somebody. Either way, get this album.

For those of us who grew up on Tribe, we may be pleasantly and unpleasantly surprised.
This is a good album. Not a masterpiece. And moreover, it certainly feels like a grown-up version of ATCQ.
If you're expecting "Scenario" or "Electric Relaxation" type of crowd-pleasers - they're not really here. These tracks are more about meaningful ideas, laced with dense beats.
It's a Tribe and it's a gift to hear Phife again (Rest in Paradise, man!) and it's a good album. But it's different from the Tribe most of us know - for better and for worse.

This is the very last album created by A Tribe Called Quest. It does not have the Ali Shaheed Muhammad productions as with previous albums, but the production on it by Q-tip none the less has great beats rhythms vocals and lyrics to go.
With guest appearances such as Busta Rhymes and others who you definitely will recognize; it is definitely an album to have for your collection especially for any real true Hip Hop Head.
There are quite a number of tracks that also have Phife Dawg on them; may he rest in peace.

Love, Love. LOVE!!!!!! Got the same soul like their other albums, but new flare. This is how hip hop should sound. A breath of fresh air! Their final album is brilliant, oh so brilliant, in every sense of the word. Not that A Tribe Called Quest intentionally foresaw it, but the timing of this album drop is so perfect that it's chilling - and just right. Like the album itself. Lyrical, poetic, hip-hop brilliance that spills every tea as it also bears its heart out with all its soul.

Awesome album for this venerable rap group and their first studio album in 18 years. It's like they never left. The album starts off with the burner Space Program which perfectly segues into the next track We The People. The late great Phife Dawg shines on various tracks on the album as well as original member Jarobi. Q-Tip does his usual thing too. Other notable tracks are Dis Generation, Solid Wall of Sound, Melatonin, and Enough. Great jot Tribe!

This is undoubtedly the final Tribe album... that fact alone makes the LP worth a listen. Beyond the fact that this represents a beautiful last chapter for a group, after more than a decade the guys have not lost their touch. If anything, there is a deeper sense of camaraderie than on the ironically titled, The Love Movement. Do yourself the favor and pick this up and proceed to play it from start to finish. Rest In Peace Phife.

Finally some true art is hitting the hiphop scene. After decades of everybody copying everyone and not writing their own lyrics, tribe came back to save us. Stop listening to fake Drake, stop listening to fake panda, stop listening to fake future, and pick this up now. Between this, Kendricks untitled, and kudi I finally have hope for rap and hiphop. F*ck the wack rappers that been releasing the same f*cking songs over and over.
