Contrary to all available resource info, unless you have a non-Android device to set this thing up, you're screwed. Fortunately, apple products abound. I had to use an Apple iPad in order to connect to the wireless access point on the outlet switch, in order to get it connected to the house wireless system. It is one of life's difficult mysteries, that the fine folks at Android-world are UN FREAKING able to have an option to TURN OFF the requirement that all wireless connections permit access to the INTERNET. Once you get past that, you might find that the device just works. I was >--< close to returning the device to Best Buy because even with the iPad to boot strap it up, the first attempt failed miserably. However, I later found out that evening, that i needed to restart my routers - so perhaps the problem was in the wireless network itself. No matter, when I tried again about a week later, the device found the local wireless network (I have 2 separate access points due to distance) and I was successfully able to operate the device remotely with an android app. 3 stars I give this device, because it should simply not be that difficult to set it up. I would, however recommend it nevertheless. You have to be able to remotely turn on/off a device sometimes afterall.

... but setup requires patience. Think of this as a remotely controlled switch for any plug-in item. (I used them for a couple room ACs.) It's straightforward - but setup can be tricky. It took a couple attempts for the most-distant WeMo to recognize my WiFi network. Be patient - and look on the online forums for solutions to specific problems. (The setup tetchiness is the only reason I don't give this device 5 stars. It's clever.)

This is a great product. The instructions for the initialset up are not user friendly. I ttried getting help from the companies web site and had no luck. Had to join a tech forum to get help.

I use this to remotely turn off and on lights at my lake house when I am not there for security. Easy to use and can be used with my IPhone. Would buy more. Would try the other products associated with this device.

If your looking for simple smart switch without having to buy hubs or some expensive starter kit they are great, I have four, if your wanting to make your home a full smart home don't start with these, go with insteon or a system that has more additional system like wall outlets switch and modules to do more things in your house, but if you only want to turn on a light, sound system or Christmas tree they are great,

This is about the 10th WEMO switch we have purchased. They are my favorite gadget, especially at Christmas time, when the tree, lights, etc all get plugged into these switches. Can set up a timer so the lights go off/on or (MY PERSONAL FAV) you can control them via an app on your phone. Do you know how fun it is to turn the lights on the tree in MO off/on while you are in AZ? Lol. Gave all the adult kids their own WEMO switches for Christmas this year.

I purchased this, and it's a great addition to my smart home set up. It works good with the Echo, but I was bummed it didn't work with logitechs remotes...maybe on the next update.

I bought it on a whim but haven't found a great use for it. It does as advertised, allowing to turn on an outlet from phone or tablet.

I have several WeMo units in my home. They are delightful and integrate easily with my Amazon Echo. This unit is particularly nice because it goes beyond the functions of other WeMo devices. This unit provides electrical usage information. It provides the current and high wattage rating for the products plugged into it. I use this to evaluate electronics energy consumption and it showed me that it was time to replace some old products that are less efficient..

The insight plug works great, but the regular one is cheaper and works just the same. I don't usually check my energy usage, so this was a waste for me. But, it's still a great product.

This is so cool!! I have it set to where it's connected to my Alexa and control my devices using this plug.

I purchased the WeMo and set it up. Setup was easy but did have to download the APP twice. I use it to turn on lights through the Amazon Echo unit. It works like a charm.

So I bought this to work in conjunction with my Amazon Echo (Alexa) and so far it works great. The device was very easy to setup and the app comes in handy for those times when I am not close enough for Alexa to hear me. Also the energy monitoring is neat, even though I am not sure how accurate it is. Also love how easy it is to set a schedule using the app, no more timers that you have to unplug to be able to see what the heck the display says while trying to program.

I really feel once these are $15 to $20 range I'll be installing them all through the house. As it stands I purchased this for my father for his birthday. He is a mizer when it comes to power usage and I think he'll get a kick out of managing the outlet he plugs this into. Setup was quick and simple and I liked that he can control the unit with his voice and his google home device.

This product is really effective if you have a hard-to-reach plug that you wish to switch an item on and off with little effort. The product works as advertised, and it is easy to setup. Just remember that if your electrical item being controlled resets when power is disconnected, it will do the same when you switch your Wemo off. If your controlled item loses configuration when disconnected from power, that will happen when using the Wemo.

We purchased two different types on smart plugs and this was the best. The app is very simple to use and set up, and multiple plugs each get their own location label so Alexa controls each easily. As a bonus, this plug has a nice big, well lit on/off touch pad right on top for manual control of easy to reach plugs. We bought three and we’re getting more to set up other plugs and small appliance timers through the app.

I bought this timer to be able to turn my lamp on an off and set it at specific times. I like being able to also use the app to do it. It also works with Amazon Echo which I don't own...yet!

We use this for a dehumidifier on the second floor of our townhouse. We wanted a way to turn the unit on/off on a schedule and it's served that purpose well. We could even leave it on and turn it off remotely if one of us takes a longer shower that develops excess steam. Also it's nice to see how much operating a dehumidifier would cost. We were presently surprised that it's less than expected. Great little product.

Easy setup. Can turn stuff on from any where I have internet
