These so called smart TVs and receivers are sometimes too smart for their own good. Got tired of trying to mess with the settings to figure out why they were turning on. So I got this to cut power when not being used. I like this vs the smaller newer and cheaper one they came out with because I get notifications when the power cuts on or off.

The problem was it seemed to have some interference with another device and after contacting technical support they recommended I switch channels on my router and after that it seems to be working okay. I would probably purchase again and would recommend it.

Setup was pretty straight forward. It does have some wifi connection issues. I ended up placing in the same room as my router and now I do not have a problem. Pretty cool seeing the energy used thru the plug. I would recommend their smaller version if you don't need the energy reporting feature.

Pros: -Setup is easy. -When online, works flawlessly. Cons: -The iDevice app is wonky, requires constant refreshing. Hopefully solved in a future update. -WiFi reception isn't as good as other devices that are right next to it. Summary. You won't know if it's within WiFi range until it's in place. Do your firmware updates.

If challenges lies on the wireless connectivity of the device, we suggest to change the wireless channel of the router. The non-overlapping channels are 1, 6, 9 and 11. About the App, it would be best to keep it closed so all the data is up to date when you re-launch it.

I use the phone to turn my bedroom lamps on and off and don't have to crawl out of bed. The downside is remembering to turn the lights out before you turn your phone off. It has some really neat features such as vacation mode which will randomly turn the lights on and off to give the appearance of someone being at home.
