I wanted a bigger tv. The color and sound is pretty good. Can't beat price. Add a Streaming device and you have a Smart TV for half the cost.

The tv is being used inside the garage for my "man cave" mainly to watch sports on the weekends and to use while working out but is slowly being taken over by my kids with their WiiU and movies. I was surprised how clear the picture is considering the cost of the tv. The audio is weak as expected but the sound bar takes care of that issue. Overall I am satisfied with the product.

Great tv for your bedroom. It was cheap and the picture is awesome. Try the sound first. I thought it was ok. But if u watch movies you'd probably want a sound bar or surround sound.

I like this TV 90% of the time. Why do I say 90% of the time, well it has a "feature" that it's very annoying. Let me explain.... I have this tv connected to a DirecTV receiver and a Amazon Firestick. Both of these devices are connected via HDMI. The problem arises when I accidentally press the channel up/down button instead of the volume up/down (primarily at night). This causes the tv to switch to the setup mode in which you have to go thru a series of menus in which you have to select the language, whether you want to setup the tv in Retail or Home mode, select the input you plan on using or scan for channels.

I bought this TV a few days ago, the picture quality is outstanding! However the sound is very lacking. I was not in the market for a soundbar or surround sound system however I fear that I'm going to have to buy one. Anything over 50% volume even with sound adjustment settings in the menu does not increase the volume at all. Overall I would recommend this TV as a spare room or game TV where you are not requiring to have a lot of sound interface.

Pros: Large, full HD, good picture, good number of connectors, it's a dumb TV (i.e. no "smart" features), it has a source button on the TV (great for when I lose the remote) Cons: No Red/White audio out The source button on the TV is hard to use (I can't make it work, I found the remote tho'!) Things I can't comment on: TV service/cable box interface (I'm a cord-cutter) Sound (I use an peripheral sound bar) Tips from this procrastinating purchaser: Check that the number and type of connectors is what you want, this has a nice 3 HDMIs, which leaves me one to grow into I waited till Cyber Monday and I got a good deal (it might actually have been Tuesday by that point) and didn't see a better deal before (or since, but I haven't been looking as diligently since) I was originally angling for a 32inch TV from one of the premium manufacturers. Their prices never seemed to come down to my level and they all had features I didn't want that cost money I didn't have, or they failed to have full 1080 resolution. After doing some research about when 1080 matters I decided to look for a bigger size, and just before I was about to loosen the purse strings because all hope seemed lost, this TV was on sale for $270. While other companies' TVs in that range were much smaller, this was was large, full HD, and blissfully, wonderfully not-a-smart-TV TV. I've had it for about two months now, watched about 50 hours on it and I'm very happy with my set-up and with the TV's performance. The one thing I wish it had was a Red and White audio out, but I've been happy to make due with a 3.5mm headphone-type jack. I was nervous that, since I got a deal on it, it might kick the bucket early, but so far so good. The remote, like many remotes, is unfortunately easy to block (due to space constraints, my sound bar has to live right in front of the receiver, so I have to do the remote version of can-you-hear-me-now), but I don't count that against the TV.

Was searching for a new budget HDTV. I was hesitant at first due to the historical reviews of the brand but the price and size for the deal was just uncomparable without spending upwards of 500 dollars especially since I would be using it for primarily gaming and video streaming. Pros: - size vs price - 3 HDMI ports - VGA - 1.5 mm Audio Jack - 1 USB - 1 Coaxial - Good picture quality, streaming HD and Xbox One gaming - Not Smart TV (don't need it and don't wanna pay more for one) Cons: - Brand (build and longevity concerns) - Remote (cheap but works) - TV Menu/User Interface (Limited, clunky not very user friendly) - External Buttons (awkward to use and reach for) - TV built in Stand ( two legs that pop in on the far opposite sides of the TV, thus requiring a stand 50in wide or be mounted) First impressions were actually surprising, the picture and quality at 1080p at 49.5in was extremely satisfying. Now this is no 4k TV but it does the job. The speakers are awful and definitely need a auxiliary/external/bar speaker replacement. I had an extra computer speaker with a sub woofer and works great. I actually had to return my first purchase due to a dead pixel within the first day of use. But with Best Buy's return and exchange program, it was quick and very easy to get a replacement. I know this TV isn't something that is going to last forever, so I got the GeekSquad protection to extend that until the TV goes. But with the price, I won't be shedding any tears when it does go. I've had the TV for about 2 months and haven't had any issues with the picture and HDMI ports. Its something very nice to come home to and watch nextflix with the Missus without breaking the bank for the size.

Basically, I was looking to upgrade from a 32" to a 48" or larger. I did stop at my local store to check this tv out, but they do not display Westinghouse products. When I was told that I could return it for up to nearly 60 days, I figured, "why not?". Took it home and hooked it up within a few days. Really liked the picture and its size. It is not nearly as nice as the Sharp 50" that I got a best buy last year, but it is certainly serving its purpose. Yes, the sound is average at best, but I went in knowing that. I have purchased an inexpensive receiver and some nice speakers to offset that, and all is good.

I am pleasantly surprised with this 50 inch Westinghouse TV. I wasn't sure what to expect but now glad I decided to give it a chance. For three hundred dollars the screen is very clear and color is great. You do need to go into settings and find what is pleasing to you. Sound is OK but we already had a sound bar. The three HDMI inputs and optical audio satisfies our needs. We were not looking for a smart TV just something to enjoy cable, blue ray and Amazon on. I recommend consideration of this TV.

The color is very good at it's best, not great. And the sound is weak and you have to have a speaker of some sort to hear better because it do not have a good sound from the TV itself. I had a extra in the storage. For the price I paid it was worth buying even if I would have had to buy a surround system to improve the sound.

Purchased this tv for my in-laws after their old crt finally went out. They were excited about the tv and are pleased. It has a good picture and is quick and easy to set up. Only down sides are the speakers aren't great and there are limited screen ratio options. Only reason screen ratio is a problem is because they watch several old shows and movies. Would buy again for my own bedroom or kids room.

The picture quality is phenomenal for the price. Vibrant colors, good refresh rate, and beautiful picture. The only set back to this item is that the built in speakers sound like a Tin can and are unbearable for extended periods of time. A small sound bar system or other speakers quickly overcome that issue for a great purchase.

The TV has a great picture and very acceptable sound. Unlike some previous reviews, I did not find that the sound was bad. Everything was easy to set up and begin watching. My one complaint is the physical location of the "bottom" set of input wires. After the TV is mounted on the wall these are impossible to access so these have to be wired before mounting. If you are running wires behind the wall through an access port, the mounting process can be daunting! For my installation it took 3 people - two to hold the TV and the third to feed the wires through the access port. Once up, however, it looks great! I just hope I don't have to add any connections to the bottom ports in the future. The side ports are accessible when the TV is mounted although with some effort. All-in-all for the money, it is a great product.

I bought this TV on Cyber Monday. I was somewhat hesitant at first about the picture quality as I haven't really seen it on display. Once I brought it home and hooked it up, my concerns went away. The picture quality is excellent. It's very light so it seems like it should be easy to mount to a wall and wire in my Apple TV. Would recommend this TV to anyone looking for real value if you can purchase for underb $300.00.

I just hung this TV to the wall and it's so light for 50" (maybe no different from new TVs) and tested with over the air HD channels and DVDs, and with both the picture is really good even when it's 60hz refresh rate only. For $280 this 50" TV is more than good.
