The only reason im giving this 3 stars is because it has good picture. I was excited to buy this tv for my first 4k. On top of it was excited for the price I got it! I had an amazing time watching the first day I set it up! The second day, I got off of work went home and was excited to kick back and watch my new favorite purchase! But when I turned the tv on I got this green screen.. I kept turning it off and on until it went away, Which it finally did. Didn't think much of it because the tv started working again. The next morning I woke up went to watch tv and my tv would not turn on what so ever... I Called Westinghouse and they couldn't do anything for me so I eventually had to return it and was disappointed. also the sound was decent not good. So I spent the extra 300 and got a LG.

Why make a 4k tv with a 60hz rate, that doesn't make sense to me. Also the speaker on this TV sucks! Mine is just a day old and I am ready to pack it up in the box to return it. Unless you have a home theater system I do not suggest this product. I don't believe someone should have to buy a new TV and have to purchase a home theater system or soundbar just to have good sound. TV also takes about 2 minutes to turn on and after exiting out of Netflix it goes to a blank screen instead of the main menu, even after pressing main menu, constantly have to turn it off and back on or it will glitch. Very disappointed with this product. Do not give in and buy just because it says 4k, you're better off with a regular 1080p 120hz TV.

OK, if you just want to say you have a 4k TV

Image Quality: The image quality appears great at first, and since this was my first 4k TV, it obviously had a much sharper, high-resolution look to it than my previous TV. However, I bought it as part of a deal with an XBOX ONE S, thinking I'd be able to view 60hz 4k content with it. As it turns out, this TV handles 4k... but (according to the Xbox’s assessment) only up to 24hz. So, if all I bought it for was watching 4k movies at 24 frames per second, that's fine. But if you want to take advantage of the 60hz, you’ll most likely have to stick with 1080p or less content. Physical Design: Visually, the TV looks great. Not as thin as some models, but definitely doesn’t look bulky. What boggles my mind is that they placed the IR sensor smack dab in the center... precisely where your Center speaker or Soundbar would go, rendering the remote control completely useless if you want to have decent sound. Smart Features: I only briefly explored the smart apps. They seemed pretty standard, and I was able to view some beautiful 4k videos using the youtube app. Audio: I didn’t bother testing the speakers very much. I knew the audio quality for an inexpensive TV was not going to be amazing. My belief is that if you’re purchasing a large TV, you should have a decent sound system (I recommend a VIZIO sound bar), and not expect the TV to give you an amazing audio experience. PROs: - Meets minimum requirement to qualify as a UHD (4k) TV. - Most affordable 4k TV out there. - If you really want very basic 4k on the cheap, this would be the entry-level option. CONS: - Not truly 4k at 60hz, from what I could tell. - IR sensor is dead center, which means it will be blocked by any soundbar or center speaker sitting in front of it. Bottom line: You get what you pay for.  If you want an optimal experience, I highly recommend the LG 60UH8500; it's more money, but it’s virtually future-proof, and even handles 3D!

I decided to write a review because the reviews I read on this page did not tell the whole story. The TV picture quality is very good, the refresh rate is average, however, the sound quality is poor. Sometimes it is difficult to understand what people are saying on TV. You probably need outside speakers to go with this TV.

This Westinghouse 4k is one of the best 4k out so far, honestly I returned my 4k Sony and got a better, and much clear picture with the Westinghouse. This TV isn't just a TV, its the Best thing I've ever seen and I do recommend this TV to anyone who is looking for a better TV than Sony and Samsung. This TV went past my expectations, and has set a new standard for every 4k being made! I'm proud to say that I own a Westinghouse 4k.

I have 3 Sony LCD TVs. That being said, I still decided to buy my first 4ktv as a westinghouse. The menu was not slow at all compared to my Sony. The Netflix interface was up to date and was just as fast as my ps3 Netflix. I did use my Sony soundbar that I already had, but the sound coming out of the TV seemed fine. I didn't see any issues watching a warriors game in 60hz. This is a fine TV.

    HORRIBLE

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

It's ok for budget TV's to skimp on features or audio performance and even remotes but the visuals have to be at a bearable standard and this Westinghouse falls very short. On a black screen or an even colored scene like the sky or the ocean uneven lighter blotches are clearly visible. I don't know if this is a problem with all of these units but I suspect that cost savings were made in the LCD panels used or in quality control at the factory. I also had a problem streaming 4k movies from netflix as they would top out at 1080P. This was not a problem of bandwidth in my network as I am now the proud owner of a Vizio M55-C2 that streams 4k perfectly through my wireless network. If you are in the market for a 4K TV DO NOT purchase this one. Chances are your current 1080P unit will outperform it. I know the Vizio, Sony, and Samsung cost more but you will save yourself the trouble of having to box this up and return it. Best Buy gave me no hassle and made the process easy and I exchanged this for the Vizio and additional money of course.

Read the Reviews about how the sound sucks. Sounds pretty good to me. Every Tv needs a sound bar or full surround sound to sound great. Not a big deal. Picture is amazing. Best Deal I have seen for 500 bucks. I love it.

    Frustrating purchase!!!

I will share my frustrating experience for future buyers to think twice or three times before they buy any product of this brand. I bought a 55 inch smarttv in December 2016, after using it 4 months started to have flaws, the netflix was frozen and I had to wait 3 to 4 hours with the TV turned off to turn it on and it works. I call to apply the guarantee to the manufacturing company hoping to solve the complaint, to my surprise the company has absurd policies in the procedure of replacing the television. I had to send and pay the damaged TV, additional I had to wait 3 to 4 weeks to receive the new TV, this is crazy, that the customer must pay the shipping for something that does not work and aside wait so long without TV, my children make me crazy if I leave without seeing TV. in my option, the policies of guarantee are absurd and the company that distributes these brands, is the one that should take care of the claims

The refresh rate is awful it needs at a min 120 and the sound stinks but nothing a good sound bar didn't fix. But the picture is nice just that refresh rate makes it hard to watch any action movies and I thought 3D came standard with most all new TV's this isn't a 3D TV but it's probably best with the refresh rate.

A piece of junk- A defective unit

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I got a defective unit and I experienced the worst customer service provided by Best Buy and Westinghouse. Best Buy said since it is a defective piece they are not going to accept the return. Wetinghouse said that they cannot replace it or exchange it. Are you serious? I cannot pull up any app on it though it is connected to Wifi. The other main issue I have is TV does not respond to any of the command. I cannot go into menu, change volume or even turn it on and off. I have to plug out from the outlet to turn off the TV. This TV is a complete piece of junk. So, now I have a 55" TV sitting in my home that I cannot do anything with it. Even if I try to take it to junk yard would cost me money.

Intermittent Power Cuts after 6 Mo

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The tv started great and stared intermittently powering off after six months. We checked every alleyway and option and ends up it was a manufacturer defect. It took two months for the manufacturer to agree to replace it...and ends up for them to be willing to do that we had to ship the TV to Industrial City CA. The cost to ship was the same as we paid for the tv. Spend the extra $80 for the insignia. The manufacturer is Best Buy, so you can return it there if there’s any issues within the first year without having to buy the Geek Squad protection plan. We got the Insignia out of pocket after giving up with the manufacturer and we love it. The built in Roku is nice and we are able to connect the Disney Now program with our cable company and get a lot of extra shows and options. We are in love.

    Stuck Pixel

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The day i received the TV it had a stuck white pixel in the middle of the screen, you can see it every time a dim lighting scene is on the tv, it makes it unwatchable. I tried to contact westinghouse to honor their warranty and they said i would need to ship it back to them at my own cost. This is a 55" tv, I would be paying probably 50-100 dollars to ship it. Dont waste your time, buy a better brand that doesnt sell tvs with dead/stuck pixels in the center of the screen.

2 Stars for the size of a TV

Bought the TV as advertised 4K, when I received it I spent sometime on it's app came in default. Logged in to Netflix and then I found huge dissatisfaction on the quality of 4k videos. The color distribution towards subjects and objects or still images doesn't match the definition of 4k. I agree for the size the price is amazing.

This was the first new TV I bought in over 15 years, and was so excited, but it has not lived up to my expectations. Also, it's been on sale twice for much cheaper than I paid (bought it on sale for $549.99 in January), but now they're listing $549.99 as the regular price (it was listed as $699.99 when I bought it). Should have bought a Sharp or Samsung.

    On TV #2

Purchased this tv back in Feb. Had it for a month and after watching Netflix when the show would change to the next the screen went blank. It had vertical lines. Had to turn it off and turn it back on in hopes the picture would come back on. Called the Geek squad (thankfully I took out the 5 year coverage) and long story short was told they no longer have parts to fix this tv. Told me to head to Bestbuy and they would have to give me a comparable tv in place of this one. Well.....they showed me one that I would have had to pay $200 more for. Think not!! They found another one and I settled on that. Well here I am again about 3 months later having the same problem. Once again Geek squad told me they have no parts to fix this tv. So I will be heading back up there to battle this out again. They aren't very helpful in fixing the issue it seems unless you have to pay out more money. That I will not do. We'll see what results I get this time when I go back up there.

For the money, I thought it was worth it. I continue to have problems. First problem was with the apps. YouTube or Netflix wouldn't load. When Netflix started working, it was blurred completely out, but I could hear sound. Then I noticed it doesn't stay connected to the WiFi. Then last night, I was watching You Tube..when forwarding a video...the screen went black and froze..I had to unplug the power to restart. I can't take anymore issues. Anymore issues, I'm returning and purchasing a Samsung! (pictures won't upload?

Sound was horrible, picture was horrible and well it was 4K but most hd tvs are better and most tvs from the 90s have better sound. Wifi range was horrible and I could only watch Netflix in 6 second videos that were around 360p
