    Never buy Whirlpool

This dishwasher was purchased by our landlord on 7th of September, 2016. Order number - BBY01-787985091300. 1. It didn't work even for 1 year. On July 15th, 2017 this dishwasher just stopped working. We scheduled a service appointment which is still covered by Whirlpool warranty. But this was just the beginning of the worst customer experience ever. 2. On July 22nd, 2017 their technician came, told us that we need to pull it out from our kitchen. We kindly asked him to wait while we can quickly do it right now - he rejected to wait and just went away. Let's say this was our fault and we didn't know what needs to be done initially. 3. Next service appointment was scheduled on August 3rd, 2017. Yes, their time slots are horrible. On that day their technician came, told us that he fixed the issue and immediately left without proper testing of how this dishwasher operates now. When we tried to run a cycle the dishwasher even did not start. We immediately called their service center and asked to call their technician and ask him to come back. Unfortunately, their people are very "fast" and this didn't happen. Well, a new service appointment was scheduled on 15th of August. 4. On 15th of August the same technician came, did some investigation and told us that there is one part in our dishwasher that needs to be replaced, he will order it now and when it will be shipped he'll come back to us and finally fix our dishwasher. 5. A new service appointment was scheduled on 29th of August, 2017. Instead of their visit they called us with the information that the replacement part was not yet delivered and they kindly rescheduled our appointment to a new date - 7th of September. 6. On 7th of September they called us and explained that there was a need to replace 2 parts and they for some reason ordered wrong parts, not compatible with our dishwasher. A new service appointment was scheduled on 18th of September, 2017. 7. On 18th of September we called their Service Center and asked to confirm the appointment. They told us that everything is good and their technician will visit us shortly. We took another day off at work and started to wait. When their technician didn't came to us at the confirmed time we called their Service Center and politely asked for how long we have to wait? And their answer was unbelievable: "Unfortunately, the replacement part that we received for your dishwasher was delivered to us damaged...So, we have to reschedule your service appointment once again". This is what they told us despite the fact that they confirmed that everything is good and on time 2 hours prior the visit. This is a nightmare customer service and a horrible product which didn't lasts for 1 year. There are already 2+ months passed since they are trying to fix the dishwasher and still counting. Our advice is never buy anything from Whirlpool because of their poor quality and the worst customer service ever.

    Decent for the price

So for the price I paid this appeared to be the best option, I searched online a lot. And better yet, it went on sale after I ordered it so Best Buy issued me a credit for the difference. I did the installation myself and compared it to the 20 year old Kenmore I was replacing. The Whirlpool is not as solidly built, a lot more cost efficiencies obviously, lots more plastic and thin gauge metal. There is also almost ZERO room to work under the dishwasher once you get it into the cabinet, so hopefully you can get everything connected before you slide it in. The water inlet is 3/4" - not 3/8" like your water lines under the sink are. This dishwasher does not include an adapter, so you'll need that. And the only way to get one usually is a "kit" with other things you don't need, so add 20 bucks to the price of the dishwasher. Drying aid - they harp on the need for this in the owner's manual. I ran it the first time empty and in fact it was full of condensation on the inside at the end. So, if you had a dishwasher you were using only detergent in you'd better plan on that drying aid stuff in addition now if you want dry dishes. Sound - I saw a couple comments about the noise level. This unit is no quieter than any other dishwasher. It's the same as the old one it replaced. There is a big "blanket" of insulation that comes with it, which is not sized to fit it and not properly set up to secure it when you slide it into place. I had to put some tape near the edges and cram it into the cabinet space. That blanket thing is probably an attempt to cut sound down, it makes it not unreasonably loud but not whisper quiet either.

Our last dishwasher lasted 18 years. Did extensive reading on reviews/repairs on several different brands. We settled on this one due to both pricing and reviews. Priorities were pricing, quality and it does what it was designed to do...clean. We have had this new one for a week. 1. Installation was a piece of cake, even for a gal. 2. Reasonably priced - as we've learned that with dishwashers price is not indicative of quality. 3. Reviewed rather well compared to other brands and models. 4. Very quiet - This was not a selling point for us. We did, however, add the insulation from the old one on top of the new one and secured it....'stealth mode'. 5. Dishes come out very clean but we are 'prewashers'. As a chef, I know that even commercial dishwashers use a prewashing before they go into the dishwasher. 6. Dries thoroughly - we use the rinse aid as recommended. Dishes, even the plastic ones and top rack items are completely dry (every time). 7. It has several features but we are not a bells and whistles people so we just use the regular settings. 8. We cook most of our meals at home from scratch. The machine is large enough that it will accommodate all the dishes we use for the entire day in one load. We like the silverware basket on the door and that there is no tower in the center that takes up so much space like our old one did. Hoping we get 18 years out this new 'maid'.

I purchased this dishwasher to replace my 15 year old GE dishwasher. I shopped for price, color, and quiet. The dishwasher was easy to install provided youpurchase the installation kit (additional charge). The silverware tray is flimsy and comes off the inside of the door to rest on 2 plastic prongs attached to the end of the bottom tray. It has 2 rotating water blades which helps clean. The cycle is really long so I recommend the 1 hour cycle to save water and power. The drying element doesn't work very well as the dishes are still damp when it finishes. All of my dishes come out nice and squeeky clean but we do rinse and brush them before placing them in the dishwasher, which believe helps. The best feature's are the sleek look and the ver VERY quiet cycles. I have a great room with a pass through opening to my kitchen so with our old machine we could only run it at bed time or in the morning when no one was watching TV in the great room. I run it on the one hour cycle without heat drying and leave the dishes inside until it cools, they are just as dry as when I select the heat drying cycle. Overall for the price it is a very good dishwasher.

It is VERY quiet and I like the 1-hr. wash, which seems to be doing a good job (I always thoroughly rinse dirty dishes before placing them in the dishwasher). I've only used this machine about 5 times so far, so it might be too new to rate its performance. I do NOT like the way the latching mechanism works and I don't care for the looks of the grab handle. Perhaps a towel bar would have improved the looks of the machine, but that was only available on the more expensive unit with the stainless steel tub. Thanks to the layout of my kitchen, this white, plain-looking unit is not visible when you walk into the area. Have had to press the Start button twice before it lights up to proceed--we now know to press harder on the second attempt. I really dislike the way the door doesn't drop all the way down when you open it and do not like to have to pull out the bottom basket in order to weigh it down! We are used to having the silverware tray on the door; however, because of the protruding soap dispenser, table knives interfere with the removal of the tray from the door. We learned not to put any knives in that area of the tray. I liked my old Whirpool much better (except for the dial--the push button start is so much better). I can only hope to get the same 22 yrs. of service out of this new machine. I have stayed with Whirlpool appliances because they have been so trouble-free in my present home. I hope by the time I need a new range, microwave, and refrigerator, they will be more attractive than this plain-looking dishwasher.

We bought this dishwasher to replace that one that came with our house (also a Whirlpool). We installed this ourselves (no, we've never done that before) and it was pretty simple. I never thought I would say that I looked forward to running the dishwasher but I do! I've not had any issues with this dishwasher after more than a year of ownership. My dishes are always clean (and I admittedly barely or don't rinse anything before I put them in there) and it's pretty quiet. I know a lot of people always write about how loud or quiet a dishwasher is and all I can say is that if you're right next to it, you know it's running but if you're a few feet away from it, you would have no idea it's on. I really don't have any complaints and I use the dishwasher at least 4 times a week. I think I've only had to buy 3 bottles of rinse aid (it really does help make a difference despite my skepticism) so it's very economical in terms of use. The outside door is easy to clean and surprisingly, it's not a fingerprint magnet. Highly recommended and I'll definitely buy a Whirlpool the next time around.

Went to the open box warehouse event to replace our dishwasher AGAIN! We went the middle of the road route last time- not the most expensive and not the cheapest and we still ended up repairing the washer once and decided not to put more money into it. So this time we decided to get the cheapest one we could find and consider it disposable. Saw this one and liked the price so decided to take a chance. Works well (though we do clean/rinse our dishes prior to loading them) and is VERY FAST - heavy cleans in an hour compared to 4 hours for our LG, and haven't noticed any difference. Noise level is acceptable for us, we usually start in before everyone leaves for school/work anyway but even if we are home, it's not disruptive in any way and we have a kitchen/great room TV combo. Also like the Clean indicator light, which our prior twice as expensive LG did not have ( a little thing but we were constantly asking if the dishes were clean or dirty- maybe cause we clean them off so well before loading). Overall, happy with the purchase and performance AND THE PRICE..

    INSTALLATION SUCKS!

Overall, I am very happy with Best Buy and the Sales Associate that helped me, so this review in no way is intended to reflect poorly on them. About the dishwasher. This dishwasher is replacing my previous Whirlpool dishwasher that only lasted 2 1/2 years. It matches my other appliances and looks better than the last one. That said, the trouble begins during installation. While what you see on a daily basis looks great, the installation SUCKS! Whirlpool has crowded the fresh water line into the other plumbing making it difficult to work with--but that's the easy connection. The drain tube is nearly impossible to connect. I have six significant cuts on my hands and forearms due to all the sharp objects the installer is required to manipulate around during the installation of this tube. It's poorly located amongst knives. It uses a pair of straight-connects that once installed sharply elbow, (why not just use an elbow and make installation easy?). And, the hose was shorter than the previous hose by a foot which aided in my frustration. Next, installation requires the use of a flat and Philips head shrewdriver--oh and that stupid star driver if you want to hook it up to the electricity. WHAT THE @#%$?!? Overall, I'm so angry at the product at install that I hate the machine. Luckily, I'm building a new house and this one won't be used by me. I will also not buy any Whirlpool appliances for our new house. Kenmore, you're out too--and so is any company who uses this design. I'll pay extra for good design and better reliability.

The dishwasher fits and looks much nicer than my old one that was 20 years old. It has less features but it has everything i usually used anyway. Surprisingly quiet! Our house is an open concept so that is nice to find out. Dishes came out clean and dry first time trying it out, i did use a rinse agent and powdered dw soap.. Some of my taller glasses and cups fit in the top rack now. I did a lot of researching before deciding on this one, Ive never used whirlpool before but after reading lot of reviews on different whirlpool dishwashers I felt confident this was a good buy to replace my old kenmore. This appears to be a newer model as there was no reviews anywhere on it yet. The older model simular to this one had good reviews though. I like that I can move the silverware basket around and I can open the tops if the silverware doesnt fit in the slots and just lay them in there. Very pleased with my purchase of this a few days ago.

We've been using this around two months now, and it has been doing an admiral job of keeping our dishes clean. While it's not the quietest unit on the market (I think they rate it at 55db), it's still whisper quiet. We can run a load of dishes in our open floorplan and you can barely hear it from our couch ~6 feet away. In an effort to make this dishwasher more efficient, it uses a series of washes, soaks, and pauses to get the most out of it's energy and water use. It seems to work well, but at the cost of longer cycle times - a normal wash cycle can take anywhere from 2 to 3 hours. Not such a concern for us since we typically run the washer when we go to bed or leave for work, but if you're hosting a large group for dinner and need to wash a load in a hurry, this isn't the washer for you. The stainless finish does not have a smudge resistant surface and seems to attract fingerprints and water trails on the front. It will clean easily, but it's not nearly as maintenance free as our range and microwave that do have smudge resistant finishes.

I was in need of a dishwasher and my girlfriend has a Whirlpool machine that has taken years of abuse but still works great. My Frigidaire of 9 years suddenly stopped working so I decided to try a Whirlpool for myself. Time will tell how the new machine holds up but I am very disappointed in the construction. The Frigidaire was more solidly built using brass fittings, a more rigid frame and heavier plastic box. Also the sound reduction blanket was considerably more substantial than the flimsy one that Whirlpool provided. As with most new machines, you have to buy the inlet hose from the sink, the fitting that attaches to the machine and hose, and a power cord. On the Frigidaire, the new brass fitting between hose and machine attached to brass fitting on the machine. On the Whirlpool the new brass fitting attaches to a plastic fitting (garden hose thread). Extreme care must be taken when tightening as over tightening will strip the plastic threads on the washer and you end up with a real mess. The racks on which you load the dishes are also more flimsy than my old machine. The final thing about the Whirlpool is the door springs make a horrible squeaking sound when the door is opened or closed. And at 55db it's louder than my old Frigidaire. Hopefully it will last 9 years and keep washing my dishes.

I read numerous reviews on several different sites before purchasing this dishwasher. The negative reviews seemed to be user error. The only reason why my dishes would not be totally dry is because I didn't place the dish in the washer properly or that the item has a dip on the top ie: drink pitcher has one and no matter how it's placed in the washer it won't 100% be dry. No big deal, we just use a towel before putting it away. Once I realize the washing is done and the "clean" light is on, I prop open the door to air dry the rest of the way. I don't need to, but I personally do. With the door closed, it's a sealed tub, essentially, so that condensation can't dry within the sealed washer. This unit is incredibly quiet. We've run it several times while we have friends over, where we socialize in the kitchen and not once have we been disturbed by the sound level. Most of the time we don't even realize it's on! We hadn't had a dishwasher for at least three years because the last unit we had cost about $3 every single time we ran it, which with infants was at least once a day. It became too expensive to run. This unit cost us pennies each use! We are extremely satisfied with our purchase!

While this dishwasher was priced at $269 on sale... the same stainless steel washer runs at $499. If you have Ultra-High Gloss IKEA kitchen cabinets, it will blend perfectly and give the same reflective effect without purchasing a washer that allows you to put a kitchen panel/door on the front of the washer. It also fits perfectly within the IKEA plinth (kickplate) without using the Whirlpool bottom cover with two plastic screws. This washer is much quieter than the Kenmore we had. It takes time to get used to the on/off washing function within the hour it takes to complete a load. The reviews that state that this washer DOES NOT DRY WELL is NOT TRUE. If you expect it to dry with no assistance it won't. We use the drying/rinsing agent that Cascade sells and fill the reservoir. Dishes come out dry and spot free every time.

We bought this dishwasher after our Samsung dishwasher, which we had for just over a year, gave up the ghost. And thank goodness it did! There was a constant smell of mildew every time you opened it. Now onto the review of the newest part of the family! We did a lot of research before deciding on this one. We really didn’t have much criteria to go by, besides that it would have a silverware holder in the door (btw-you can put the silverware holder on the inside of the door, on the inside front of the bottom basket, or right in the middle left or right of the bottom basket), and wouldn’t smell like mildew. When we had this installed, we loaded it up and started it with trepidation. We stood there for a minute and looked at it, waiting for it to start. I finally put my ear closer to it, and it was actually running the whole time we were standing there! It’s that quiet! Our dishes came out beautifully, it didn’t cause a ruckus, and I didn’t really need to “prewash” all of the dishes prior to starting it.

I have used this washer several times since I have installed it myself. I have made it my purpose to ease each different cycle except for the soak option. I don't put dishes in the washer that require a soak. I have had zero problems with any of these cycles. A great bonus from this machine is the removal dish rack that's on the door. It allows me to place more items in the racks without a bulky silverware tray in the way. My previous washer was a more expensive washer that the previous home owner purchased and this one works just as fine. The only difference is the lack of a stainless steel tub. The db may be 55 but I still run the washer at night without any disturbance from it. Installing it myself allowed me to save on the delivery and installation cost too. Unless you need the power cord the only other thing that I would purchase for it would be plumbers tape to make sure you have a tight connection between the water line and the machine itself. Whether or not you install it or a best buy employee does I would have a vacuum of some sort available to make sure you have a nice clean area behind the washer.

The features I really like on this dishwasher: - 1-hr clean cycle because I want them to be done as quickly as possible, regardless of water usage - gray inside tub which doesn't show stains as readily as white - silverware holder on the door, just like my previous d/w, so I knew I wanted this feature again - no cutout holes in the middle of the racks for water sprayers, and it leaves my dishes just as clean. leaves more room for dishes. i must note that i pre-rinse my dishes of all food and most oil before putting them in. Features I don't like: - the filter dome area is always oily after a load so i have to wipe it with a napkin. - standing (dirty) water in filter area, so much that I leave the filter on the rack after a load since I only do dishes once a week and don't want to leave it partially immersed in the standing water. at least the dirty water doesn't smell.

This was an open-box item - and advertised as excellent condition; I picked up at store because I am an out of town buyer and hired a local business to install. The dishwasher was missing the silverware tray and 3 other items necessary for installation - a bracket, clip and one other part. I called Best Buy and the appliance manager was gone the day I called. I was told that they would respond the following day. My call was not returned over the next 4 days, so I had the local businessman order the necessary parts because I had previously arranged for installation of countertop and tile, and I needed the dishwasher installed. I tried to call Best Buy 3 evenings in a row and was on hold anywhere from 30-45 minutes each evening. Over a week later I finally was able to contact the store and had a rather rude reception at first, but the manager said to email him the receipt for the parts and he would reimburse me. This has not been received to date. . . . . .

I am loving my new Whirlpool dishwasher. I looked specifically for one that allows me to put the silverware basket on the door. (can also be put inside.) This is the only model I could find and I'm very happy with it. There is so much room for the dishes. The tines are reasonably spaced on both racks. I have heard quieter dishwashers but this one is not noisy. I like the controls on the outside, they are somewhat small for elderly eyes. Dishes are coming out clean. Only drawback is the silverware basket on the door doesn't dry completely. Water residue is behind it when you take it out. The utensils are damp in spots but not dripping. If you use the air dry setting the whole interior is wet but the dishes are dry. I'm very happy with my selection. This is my second one....we moved to a new place and I wanted the same model. Had the other one for 4 years before we moved without any problems.

I went without a dishwasher for years, and I've never been so excited over a major appliance. This dishwasher did not disappoint. It's quiet, it's easy to use, and my dishes are spotless. I haven't tried any pots and pans yet, but we do have a lot of bowls caked with chili and other hard-to-clean items. I haven't had to put one back in yet. The silverware compartment is in the door, so there's more space for the dishes. It also comes out or opens up for easy use. Two things to note, not necessarily as drawbacks but unexpected. it doesn't actually lock, but it always seals when it's closed, so it's not an issue. Also, it doesn't save your selections, so you have to choose every time.

Have had this for about three weeks now and no issues. Have only used the 1-hr wash cycle (we rinse all dishes prior to washing), and it seems to do fine. We don't use the heated-dry, and dishes have some water on them after- but no more than the Samsung it's replaced that cost twice as much. The Samsung with all the bells and whistles had nothing but problems from day one, and the door seals failed after less than 4 years. Hoping for more from this, that simpler is better. The Whirlpool isn't as quiet, but it isn't annoyingly loud either. Not crazy about the silverware basket in the door, but it's OK. I do like the wider-spaced tines; the tines on the Samsung were too close together making loading a challenge. Installed myself and was no easier or harder than any other I've put in. Make sure to get an install kit with it.
