I'm so disappointed with this machine. After 6 years the tub pulled away from the body. The machine was very noisy from day one; it sounded like the stabbing scene in the movie 'Psycho'. Not a good choice.

I had this washer for two weeks. Had to re-wash every single load. I tried more clothes, less clothes, more detergent, less detergent, etc. I had previously owned a Whirlpool Duet front-load washer and loved it. That would not fit in my tiny apartment laundry closet, so opted for this top-load unit and I feel that I wasted my money. The machine determines the amount of water to be used, and it was apparently never enough. The features would have been great if it had actually worked as claimed.

WISH I COULD RETURN THIS WASHING MACHINE WORSE ITEM I HAVE EVERY PURCHASED.....EVERY LOAD HAS TO BE RE-WASHED - EVEN THE SMALL LOADS (4 items). It should save on water but since everything has to be rewash - you're not saving on the water or on the electric. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY!!!

Purchased on line and disappointed. Bought specifically for a fabric dispenser which on line claimed it has. It has a knob for the setting and tells you to buy a Downey Ball to dispense!

It doesn't seem to judge the amount of water accurately. It takes forever to wash if you pick anything except "Regular". It does not seem to wash as thoroughly.

This machine left soap and frabic softener stains on the clothes. When I washed my blanket it came out with dry spots and that was using it on bulky. This was the first washer I ever got mad at enough to actually return it. Also you have to spin and drain manually. No finish signal

Loudest wash machine I have ever had. Clothes are very wet and don't spin well. Lid locks so you can't check on clothes. Detergent residue on clothes......so it must not rinse well, either.

    Great Washer for the price

I read the reviews after purchasing for once, so the bad reviews made me really nervous. However, when the washer got delivered and I used it, I couldn't be more happy with my purchase. First, the bad reviews consistently complained about the amount of water being used, the locking feature, and the lack of cleanliness of clothes after being washed. These are things I specifically looked for, and here is what I found: 1) The washer does use less water because it is high efficiency. However, I have been following the manual and changing the settings to fit the load I am washing and haven't seen a problem with the effectiveness of the washer. 2) The lid does lock when you start a load, but if you read t he manual, it tells you that you can press the "start/pause/unlock" button to add more garments if you forget some. Some of the reviewers weren't aware of this, and neither was I until I read the manual. 3) My boyfriend works in the kitchen at a seafood restaurant and comes home with greasy, dirty clothes, so I was especially nervous when I saw some complaints that clothes were coming out dirty. When I washed his clothes, though, they came out perfectly clean. I don't know why some people aren't having that effectiveness with their washer, but I've followed the instructions, added detergent before the load and kept the washplate clear of clothes, and everything has come out perfectly. Normally I don't take the time to write reviews, but after how nervous I got, I thought I would share my experience with this washer (which has been excellent so far). Hope this helps!

    Loving my new washer!

I just had my new washer delivered today. This is my first new washer. Before I either used someone else's or owned a used set. So while I wasn't overly picky about my new washer, I did want it to function properly & do the job. I was not in the market for an HE washer. Up until I purchased this did I even really know an HE did or anything. After just a couple loads, I already like it. I was kinda nervous at first b/c there are lights that tell you what cycle the machine is on. The first light is 'Sensing.' This tells the machine how large the load is. It made weird noises & I found it strange. (My mom came to my home for the delivery & she ran it once for me. She said that it sounded strange, so be prepared.) I really thought my machine was broken because it was doing all of this 'Sensing.' I grew impatient, but I was just standing there, hovering over the machine. But when the lights switched, I happy. This sound of the machine is comparable to deep robot kitten purring. It doesn't really bother me. It's actually kind of soothing. I love the sound of a washing machine. It's pretty quiet after a while. So I can look past the weird sounds. My clothes came out clean & fresh. I used All brand He detergent. The locking feature doesn't bother me, either. Just push the grey button & you can add more items or whatever. No bit deal - just takes a couple seconds. I also love the variety of load settings - from delicate to bulky. I do several loads with different items, so it's nice to have to many options! I like how large the opening is. I don't have to shove things in the washing machine like I did at my mom's or with my old washer. It's easy to take the clothes out, too. It's very comfortable to use - if that makes any sense. It's just easy. I also like how the machine looks. I love the short agitator. Bras & tanks sometimes get caught around a taller agitator. I like how I don't have to worry about straps getting warped or my delicates getting ruined. overall, I like it a lot! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a washing machine. I bought the dryer that goes with it too.

    Affordable and Does the Job

I bought this with another dryer using a couple best buy cards I got from direct tv and another furniture store and spent 785 on this and my dryer. It looks like a normal dryer and the inside is a big size. I had a hard time figuring out how it actually washes and saw a video on you tube. Basically the bowel fills with water about 4-5 inches on the bottom while getting all the cloths wet. The wide protruding things on the bottom are the agitators. Basically the cloths rest on the bottom and the short agitators on the bottom turn around and agitate the cloths. The agitate noise sounds like a loud grinding sound to a pulsation sound of spraying water on your window to clean it. I was nervous if my cloths would clean with so little water and was surprised that it came out clean. BEWARE there is NO FABRIC dispenser. You'll have to get a downy ball or just put the fabric softer in with the soap at the begging. Make sure my softener and soap are dissolved in the water before adding my cloths. DONT add softener on top of your cloths or you will wash it a few times trying to get the stain out. Its annoying to not have the dispenser but in realty those things get clogged over time. I'm just a new graduate on a budget looking for an affordable and reliable washer and that's what I got. I would watch a youtube video to see it work before buying it because it is VERY different method like a wash board method. But works. I ordered from bestbuy.com and I would not do that. I paid in full and when my delivery date came no appliance. I went to the store and they said they are not affiliated with bestbuy.com. They called and found out the supplier were out of them and then were going to give me a refund and then got more and told me i needed to schedule another delivery date. No one told me this. Was really upset but got it 5 days later and the guys installed it. I ordered the extra appliance equipment during check out to install it and I have to take the dryer vent back because it was not the right one. I would check to make sure you have the right cords. Overall I'm satisfied with the product not the delivery.

    great price and great product

Purchased this washer and matching dryer about 3 months ago. Free shipping. Used my rewards coupons, plus on sale so both with tax came to $818.00. I spent a lot of time reviewing other makes/models; top of the line. Even watched some videos - these were very helpful! Just when I thought I had made a decision, I would see a video of the model I wanted broken and product not reliable and changed my mind. I decided to get just a basic, simple washer/dryer that was energy efficient. BTW, My family has two adults, a teenager and young adult and I do a couple loads every day. I wanted to wait a couple months to write the review to make sure there were no problems. I am so pleased with my purchase. I got 4% rewards for using my Best Buy visa as well. The last Whirlpool I had lasted over 15 years. I did like the look of some of the more expensive versions, but, in the end, I just wanted a washer that would wash large/small loads efficiently and a dryer that would dry without wrinkles. The washer doesn't have an agitator and now I use HE detergent (pods). It does make some funny noises, but nothing I can't live with. The top locks and all you have to remember is, to wait till the first light after sensing comes on, hit the button, wait a couple seconds, the lid unlocks and you can add something to wash if you forgot to. Simple. They are already paid for and have done hundreds of washes todate - I am extremely happy so far. Technology changes so quickly and I didn't want to break the bank with a complicated washer/dryer. White is fine since it is in a separate room off the kitchen. Hope this helps anyone who is undecided. Oh and I also got $50 for a NJ energy rebate.

Really does clean well with less water!!!

My very old Kenmore washer died last week and I started to check out the reviews for new energy efficient washers in preparation for purchasing a new washer and dryer. When I read the reviews I was very skeptical of buying one since there were many people who thought they were not good or were just ok. I went to Best Buy and looked at the Whirlpool brand HE washers and found the washer and dryer to my liking. Believe me, I kept second guessing myself for my choice for one full week until the delivery was made. After the delivery I could hardly wait to drag my week of laundry to the washer and begin the BIG test. I used the bulky item setting, the heavily soiled normal setting and the regular soiled normal setting and got awesome results on all of them. NO streaks or lint on the dark wash, bright white wash as one would expect. I ran upstairs and grabbed the bedspread from the queen sized bed and did another bulky item load thinking this will be the one that fails. Wrong!! The bedspread was so clean and I was shocked at the results. I used the same HE detergent as I have been using for a year in my old agitator washer till it died. I have no qualms about the locking lid at all. Why do I need to watch the wash?? I have better things to do with my time than peek in at the wash. Just set it and forget it. I don't care how little water is in the tub if it still gets the wash clean. If people feel that the old way is better with the agitator, so be it, but I remember when my mom used a ringer washer and she thought the new modern box type washer could never clean clothes. Same principle here. I may be older but I do not want to be wed to old ways!!! This washer is great in so many ways. I cannot attest to the longevity of the washer since I just purchased it but the performance is profound. Please take my word for it and trust in the good Whirlpool name and don't be afraid to purchase this washer for any reason. Just follow the manual and use common sense in loading it and you will be pleased as I was. I didn't use fabric softener or the downy ball in the washer. I never did use it in any washer. I do not like any residue left in a washer or on clothes from these products. I use a fabric sheet in the dryer. I am a happy consumer.

Great Washing - Doesn't always drain all the way

    Posted .

For example: Loads with sheets or towels The washer does not always drain well or remove excess water from the items. When this happens I have to run the drain/spin mode only before putting items in the dryer. Other than that it is a great washer. It has the ability to hold a lot of items, I have yet to fill it completely. It has many settings. If it wasn't for the draining and slight issues with bulky things I'd say 100% It is great at sensing the needs for the load, water level, time, etc.
