Great Washer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Whirlpool replaced our 14 year old Kenmore. Was hesitant about the lack of standard agitator. Cleans clothes great when loaded properly. Have washed extremely large loads of heavy clothing and towels without any issues. Unit makes some different sounds than our old unit during the different cycles. Already used to the sounds after the first week. Have used "HE(High Efficiency) powder detergent without any problems or residue except when our daughter did not put detergent in tub BEFORE washing (as shown on instructions). Cannot make a legit determination of its efficiency since we have only had it for about a month. Purchased matching dryer also...great offers from Best Buy when purchasing the pair!

great if you know how to use it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this washer a few months ago and it is my first HE washer. I looked at all the reviews here before I bought it. They are mixed but were leaning more to it being a good washer. First thing I noticed if you read how to use a top load HE washer you will have very clean clothes. I think alot of people that dont like it might be using it wrong. not to plug but Tide works wonders over most detergents. I will admit when you see how much water it uses you will wonder how it cleans so well. But I get alot of jeans dirty and they really do come clean. Also if you want to wash your clothes more like a traditional topload washer set it on bulky items and it will fill the drum about 2/3. I use the second rinse alot when clothes are real dirty or am doing whites. It uses very little water so I think that is OK. I do wish it had a warm or hot rinse but that is why they can call it efficient, As long as you load it around the agitator correctly you really can fit alot in it. And I think the nicest thing about it is when the clothes are done in about an 50 minutes or so they really are almost dry. Most drying times are under 30 min. Not to put some of the bad reviews down but I think people just need to spend some time to learn how to use it right,

I love this washer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read all of the reviews before buying this washer. However, the price for this HE product cannot be beat. The washer basket is stainless steel and larger than most. The fact that there's no agitator is very nice (they only break eventually anyway). I don't know why certain people are giving this bad reviews but I guess they didn't read the manual. You have to load this a certain way. It's easy to load and similar to an agitator but it must be loaded that way. You also have to balance the load somewhat. I have just placed the clothes around the basket evenly and have had no problems yet. And, of course, you must use HE detergent! No matter how much you dilute regular detergent it won't work right in this type of washer! The lack of a fabric softener and laundry dispenser is just fine with me. Less to break, less to clean (fabric softener gets nasty when it's spread all over). I like this washer and I don't find it so loud. Of course, I just replaced a loud Whirlpool Washer that I had for 10 years. I also don't have problems with dirty clothes or clothes that never got wet. Again, I think those people didn't load it or install it right. I made sure mine was level and that's all I did besides plug it in. Oh, and if you just purchase the extended warranty for $50 you can be safe on the longevity, too.

Washes anything you throw in it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. From my use of this machine since April 16, 2013, it has outperformed my expectations thus far. It has a lot of the high efficiency options with the water saving technology (no agitator), as well as 4 different temperature options. Now granted a lot of reviews on this particular model seem to point to the disliking of the locking lid. I really don't see how it's much of a big deal. If you get your clothes or whatever you plan to wash together ahead of time then you don't need to be opening and closing through the cycles. Yes, the machine makes a lot of clicking sounds and can seem a little on the loud side at first, but I have mine in an open laundry room area with no closed door and it's not that bad. Now I want to caution people that get this model installed by Best Buy to make sure they install it right. When the Best Buy guy installed it for me he neglected to attach this "u-shaped" fitting that the drain hose pops into which aides in securing the hose into the drain. This guy assured me when I asked about it that "You really don't need it." Well, Best Buy guy turned out wrong, and while I had a load of clothes washing at about 10:30pm a couple nights later, the drain hose slipped out and my laundry room quickly became a slip n' slide. After sopping up all the water and attaching the "u-shaped" fitting myself (the way the installation manual says) there are no issues with that whatsoever. Best Buy was good enough to throw a Gift Card my way for my troubles. As far as the washer, as stated above it works great and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

There are a lot of bad reviews of this product!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are many bad reviews of this product all over the internet, which I just don't understand. Consumer Reports gives it a good rating where it counts in cleaning. If you read the loading instructions you will be more than happy with this machine. If you have ever tried to wash out north Texas red clay you will know it is near impossible this machine does it on the first wash in cold set to normal. So any machine that can do that in one wash is a great machine. Ignore those who say it doesn't was well it does. It does a queen comforter with no problems if you don't use fabric softener use a dryer sheet with a comforter and no problems. It is louder than a front loader but quieter than other top loaders. I do not regret purchasing it at all.

Took a while, but this one seems to work.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First the bad news. The first machine was dented out of the box. The second machine simply didn't work. The third one seems OK, but that's a lot of fuss to buy a washing machine. Now the good news. The machine (number 3) seems to work just fine. And, Best Buy was really good about replacing the defective ones promptly. This washer is shorter than most top loading high efficiency machines and my wife is short. She couldn't reach the bottom of most of the top loaders. This one is just fine. If this is your first encounter with a high efficiency washer be prepared for some pretty weird noises.

so far so good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've only had this washer for two weeks and have done about 10 loads so far, on various settings. The different noises it makes during cycles does take some getting used to, but it's not a problem for us. If you follow the the specific loading directions, it takes a little longer to load the washer properly, but the result is a finished wash that is clean, slightly damp, and untangled. Our dryer time has decreased significantly with this washer. Our expectations for washing machine lifespans have lowered a lot recently ($1000 front-load washer for small family lasted only 8 years), so we're just hoping this one lasts a reasonable amount of time.

Great washer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The washer has ample room to handle large loads. Never had issues with being off balance. Good number of settings for different types of loads. Has really cut down on the water usage and saved us a bunch as we are doing a load of laundry every other day due to using cloth diapers.

Love my new washer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yes, it's a little loud. The door locking is not ideal. It seems like it takes a little longer to wash but The wash basket is huge! My clothes get clean and dry faster. They delivered it 2 days after I ordered it. I owned a HE washer before - so I'm used to how they work. I'm very happy with this washer- hope it lasts a long time!

great for the price..few drawbacks!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.well...am very happy with this purchase ..it was within our budget and its WHIRLPOOL so we knew it would work well...! The cleaning is good though it makes some very different sounds that scared me initially.... The capacity is great..and has many cycles... whats a little troublesome is the lid lock feature...i once paused it after soaking to see if it had sufficient water..when i started it again to start wash cycle the washing wouldnt start..so i had to cancel the cycle...what it did was it drained the whole water and the the detergent was gone:(..had to add detergent again and start a new cycle...so if u do not stop the cycle or have to add clothes in between then everythings alright....

Almost 5 stars
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would have rated this machine 5 stars if not for two issues. 1. No end of wash signal. I became spoiled by my old Whirlpool signaling when it was done. And 2. when heavy items become unbalanced you have no way of knowing. The machine just quietly shuts down at the first hint of becoming unbalanced, whereas my old machine would make a ruckus, or some machines even signal. Until you become used to this, it will be an inconvenience.

Takes some getting used to
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't need a real fancy or expensive washing machine. This one was a real steal as an energy star one with a sale price, no sales tax, Best Buy finance discount and $100 rebate from the electric company! At first I was concerned about the wash time when the installer tested it on "quick cycle" with no clothes in the machine. It seemed to take much to long. But now that I am actually using it, it is a rather quick machine. I've gotten used to the weird noises it emits siince it washes in a different way that my old agitator one. I don't think it holds as much; I'm washing more, but I think my energy consumption has decreased for the first 2 months. It washes well but not perfectly--maybe I just don't know how to get out some stains. My only grip is that the spin cycle puts in too many wrinkles which do not come out if you hang the clothes on the line instead of in the dryer. I really like to use the sun.

Read the instructions first!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We had a Fridgidaire front load washer that died after 6 years. I called a few appliance repair companies and was told LG, Samsung and Fridgidaire are the most expensive to repair because the cost of parts and wasn't worth fixing mine. They recommended Whirlpool, Kenmore, and Maytag for reliability and low repair costs. We were on a tight budget and found an open box buy at our local Best Buy for only $355! With our local water company rebate program for HE washers, I will be receiving a $200 rebate which will make my total purchase price of $155! Now cost aside I can tell you from my experience that when we installed our washer, I too didn't load it properly and overloaded the washer. The result was unclean funky smelling towels. After my wife educated me on the proper use of detergents and loading, this machine is GREAT! I think the people who complain that it doesn't clean well are not loading it properly and not using the proper HE detergent. We are using Kirkland brand liquid detergent and it cleans great. Make sure you pour your detergent in first before you load your clothes. It is a little noisy but not overwhelming by any means. Also you can add clothes to your started load, again just read the manual! I am very happy with our purchase and encourage anyone looking for a good inexpensive washer to try it out.

Works Perfectly
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First time trying the new "water-saver" models, so we were skeptical for naught. The washer works great, so don't worry about all the negative reviews. Just make sure to follow the directions (simple) and use HE detergent (not too much, either). Lack of an agitator makes handling bulky items a breeze. Some wash items/cycles do take longer than others, but given how well this thing works I'm okay with that. It makes some interesting sounds, but it's not any worse than any other washer I've had. The spin cycle is great; clothes come out super dry and so we actually save on the drying time (and cost) too! BestBuy delivery guys were great; hauled away the old one and even helped my wife re-connect a dangling dryer hose. Strongly recommend this washer & vendor!

Great washer for the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an HE washer, works differently then my old agitator model but I love it. Take your time to read the manual and understand how to load and operate this washer. It is not the same...you must follow the directions. Once you learn how to load and operate it's wonderful. Have only had it 1 month but so far so much better. Best Buy delivery was great, on time and professional. Bought the washer at a sales price which made it an easy decision. As stated, read the manual and learn how to use this. You must load correctly to avoid balance issues, just as you do with a regular agitator washer - use the center sensor as if it is an agitator and load around it - no problems. Got my first water bill after purchasing and must say that the savings will pay for it within a year We are a two person household and don't have tough stains so can't comment on the ability to get out tough stains.

doubtful at first, now I'm sold!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this washer because the deal that was offered... was hard to pass up. I did like the looks of it, the newer features, no middle spinner thing in the tub like my old one. Which by the way, will launder larger items because of that fact. I was very doubtful when first using it though...the sensoring thing to estimate the water level. But now that I'm used to it, I love it. It's very easy to use & it is so effecient. I think it saves on water AND energy since it rings out the laundry to well- they don't take as long to dry!

Great washer, great value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This washer works great. Our clothes come out clean, and the spin cycle gets out more water, meaning less time in the dryer. My husband works in a machine shop and his clothes get very greasy. The first time I washed his work clothes in our new washer I couldn't believe how clean they were. Our previous washer was the agitator style, and there are some differances when using a High-Efficiency Washer. READ THE MANUAL! USE THE CORRECT DETERGENT! LOAD THE WASHER PROPERLY! If you read the manual, you'll understand how the washer works, what some of the noises are, why you need to use HE detergent and how to load it. I'm very happy with this washer.

Good Washer at a decent price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Once I got the washer set up, which was very easy, I threw in a load of sheets and blankets, which it has a setting for. Very cool that it senses the load and uses only enough water that is necessary. The sensing phase at the beginning of the cycle takes a little getting used to at first and the cycle(s) seem to take a long time but other than that I can see no negatives. Other reviews said it was too loud, but I don't think it's as loud as my last washer which was an older Whirlpool. Another major positive is that the Spin cycle does so well that it cut my drying cycle by at least 20 minutes. I would recommend this to anyone that needs a good efficient washer at a decent price.

Very pleased with this washer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a little afraid to get this washer because of bad reviews on other sites. I've never had a washer without an agitator. I have been happy with everything about this washer. I like the big tub, many settings to choose from, it spins well and I am surprised at how little water it uses and still gets the clothes clean. It is easy to pause it so that the lid will unlock to add more laundry or to add fabric softener instead of using a Downy ball. I just water down my fabric softener before adding it.

Finally caught up on Laundry!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was delivered to our house 3-16-2013 in the early part of the delivery window. That was a good start. Installation was quick and washer was leveled .Advice given on the machine was thorough. After the test wash was done it was finally my turn. I re-read the manual. Added the required liquid HE detergent. My go to was Tide HE. Loaded the washer per instructions in a loose circle around the tub, but not covering the middle. Selected Water Temp and Wash Cycle. Pressed start.. Does make some interesting "talking" noises but nothing loud. Once it starts up it is very quiet. It was finally done! I lifted the lid and reached in..felt clothes that were clean and just damp. The spin cycle works extremely well and has cut my drying time in 1/2. Very pleased with this product and glad decided to purchase. I'm finally caught up with my laundry. That was a hard feat to accomplish with my old washer. It's so easy to get a load of clothes done quickly. Laundry is a chore but with this washer it has made it so easy and efficient!
