I was unable to go to the store so I sought out the same version and brand as my old one. I liked my older whirlpool front loader dryer a lot, but it began squeaking and even after cleaning and oiling it became louder. It was a shame bc it worked perfectly but the noise was like a torture chamber. I broke down and got the newer version and I was very disappointed for small but annoying reasons. They had it right the first time, why change?
The first thing I noticed was NO LIGHT! This was the dumbest change ever.
Next, they changed the distance of the door from the floor to 9 inches from 12. Now my laundry basket does not conveniently slide underneath or allow the door to open and close. After further investigation, so do all the other brands. This is clearly a tactic to get you so uncomfortable that you need to buy the super overpriced pedestal.
Even the lent catcher flap frustrated me. To see down and check if lent escaped to the bottom or to clean it with a lent lizard vacuum attachment is a hassle. Some genius decided to make the flap into flaps. If you want to see through that tiny gap now you can only see through half of it at a time unless you akwardly hold them both down at the same time. This made cleaning down there a bigger chore. I accidentally washed and dried a tissue left in my pocket. So while trying to clean my brand new dryer lent catcher, I had that stupid flap coming back up and blocking my vacuum attachment.
Then there's the issue of the buttons or lack thereof. The sensor pads are so sensitive that if you brush past the power button, it turns off. I thought, "I'll set the 'lock panel' option so it won't be hyper sensitive." That was a bust bc the power still responds regardless of the 'lock panel' or not. I did not read reviews before buying. I saw 4.5 stars and was very familiar with the model options (so I thought) but other reviewers have complained about the sensitivity of the panel. My older model had actual buttons.
The final straw was when after a few loads, it bagan to squeak. It was not unbearably loud, but given enough time it soon would likely be. After the squeak, I decided to exchange it for a brand & model that had a singular lent flap, buttons and a LIGHT. The new brand also came with a fillable steam container option and a stainless steel drum ($50 more for those upgrades verses this whirlpool model). Thank God Best Buy has a no hassel return/exchange policy. Lesson learned, go look at them at the store first. Your older model may very well outdo the newer, supposedly better, models. My new brand starts with an L and ends with a G. I'm very pleased with the new one (minus the door height from the floor, but that seems to be all the brands, like I said.) If none of the above issues bother you, the machine functions perfectly for laundry. It's having had all the previous conveniences taken away that turned me off...plus the squeak. New dryers shouldn't squeak.
I realize this is a very nitpicky review but hopefully someone in the whirlpool product development department will make necessary changes to improve what used to work so well.

We almost bought a cheaper model until we decided that the stacking ability was worth the extra cost. We quickly found that this was the case for much more than just that. This machine performs great at all settings; even the quick wash does a decent job for something you've simply sat at a desk in all day with air conditioning. The extra settings are great for not beating up good clothes, and it is very efficient.

Good. No light. When stacked you can't see the normal setting at the top of the dial. Didn't know it was there until 3rd week. Dries well, sufficient settings to dry whatever load. Looks good. Made in America-like that.

I bought the matching set of washer and dryer so this somewhat encompasses both.
This is a front load dryer. The buttons are on the front. You cannot, whatsoever, in any capacity, lean over this thing to reach something above in back or heck, you cannot even let a piece of fabric brush the buttons on this apparatus or your whole machine is stopped, reset, reprogrammed.....you get the point. These buttons are SOOOO touchy when you don't want them to be. Let me put it into perspective; these do not fit in the laundry closet on my second floor so the install team was nice enough to remove the doors for me. I then put up some curtains to hide the space. The curtain ever-so-slightly brushes the power button on the dryer and IT STOPS! I mean like I walk by create a small breeze and wham-o....dryer is reset and it does not matter what part of the cycle it is in. It's off. By the way, the washer is the same way.
The normal cycle is the only cycle that has the ECO save...whatever that is supposed to be. It dries on medium heat. You cannot adjust it. It takes like 75 minutes and guess what, unless you have three things in there, they are not dry. I end up using timed dry most of the time. I do like that it has low heat as we have these Ikea duvet inserts that love to melt. (Kind of scary now that I think about it).
Now, as I mentioned above, these are rather large and due to the space requirement for the dryer....they do not allow the closet doors to be closed. So, if you are considering this set, you may want to measure your space then add however much is needed for the dryer venting.
On to the good stuff. The dryer works well. It's not loud. It does it's job.

Easy to use, metal lint screen, drys clothes fast. Also has an energy saving setting but that takes much longer to complete the drying cycle. Doesn't have all th bells and whistles but we weren't looking for that anyway. Operates great and is very quiet, we highly recommend this dryer.

I purchased this Whirlpool Dryer because my previous dryer which was over 13yrs old was a Whirlpool. I also purchased the Pedestal and love the added convenience. This dryer does all it says it will do and is very easy to use. I highly recommend this Whirlpool model. The features are perfect and the price is very reasonable. Thank-you Whirlpool!!!

I have only had this for a couple months but seems to be doing a great job. Lots of options on how you want to dry your clothes. this dryer is much larger then my previous stackables so that is great. takes me less time to do laundry since I can do much larger loads. it is quiet.

I would like to start by saying I would give it a 4.5 versus just a 4, but def not a 5. The dryer has many modes and is very easy to use, clean, and maintain. I would only subtract half a star from a 5 due to the sensitivity of the buttons. I read other reviews about the sensitivity and thought it surely should be heat sensor-ed when pressing buttons. But nope, my clothes can definitely touch them. Not a big deal breaker for me.
The dryer has multiple settings and they are all very easy to use. I mean, it's a dryer! It has a cycle signal to let you know when the cycle is complete. The dryer produces a lot of heat when on a high setting. I have had other dryers in the past produce minimal heat on a high setting. I am really loving the dryer. No complaints about it so far!

Bought this dryer because my old one was acting up. Wanted a matching duet dryer to match my duet washer but couldn’t find one. This dryer is very close and is a great dryer for the money didn’t realize how expensive they can be. Drys my clothes very well and even has the anti wrinkle function. Very happy so far

Replaced a Whirlpool Sport Duet which was about 10 years old. The touch button controls are so sensitive that reaching over the machine or knocking into it while walking past can cancel the drying cycle, unless you remember to put the control lock on! There is no light in the drum - and the electronic sound at the end of the cycle is so feeble its hard to hear unless standing close by. On the plus side there are more dying options than on than on previous machine including wrinkle shield which is important when not hearing the signal that the cycle has ended!

We purchased this electric dryer and installed it in our Salon in a stacking pattern. It is working great and our staff is very happy with it. This dryer appears to be quieter and slightly larger than its previous model.

The capacity on this dryer is great. The sense dry also usually works very well. I've only had issues with very large loads of towels or blankets. It also has many settings, though you sometimes have to change some of the settings (auto dry vs time dry for example) to get tweak others (high/low heat, etc). I hope that makes sense.
