Strong antenna, weak app
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using indoor HDTV antennae for years now, but I’m always on the lookout for an antenna that raises the performance bar. The Winegard PureTV Pro 60 antenna adds a new spin by including an integrated tuner that aids in finding the optimal placement for the best reception. Finding the best placement involves the use of a Bluetooth app that pairs with the antenna. As you move the antenna from place to place, the app shows how many channels it’s picking up, and whether they’re str ong, medium strength or weak. This does provide a little more certainty, and it’s much faster than moving and checking channels repeatedly. With respect to performance, I do think the Winegard PureTV Pro 60 outperforms the antennae that I’ve used over the years. I currently own and use 3 antennae of the same type, and the Winegard consistently provided a better signal across the whole spectrum of channels available in my area. I was able to pick up 32 channels over the air, and I was happy that they were strong and clear, even as weather changes that would affect my other antennae didn’t affect the Winegard. Best of all, I had no need to move the antenna just to view a different channel. The Winegard PureTV Pro 60 includes a generous length of cable, and the second tuner/signal booster can be powered by a USB port on the TV or with the included wall power adapter. Thoughtfully, the manufacturer also included a couple 3M Command Strips for attaching the antenna to its perch. For its main purpose of pulling in TV signals, the Winegard does a fine job, and isn’t so large as to be obnoxious wherever you place it, such as in a nearby window. While I loved the idea of using an app to streamline the placement of the antenna, the whole app experience left a lot to be desired. First, using the app requires you to set up an account with Winegard. These days, I have way too many accounts with passwords, and setting up another just so I can position my antenna seems like overkill. In addition, the app does not dependably work, and repeatedly locked up while I was trying to use it. When it did work, I liked the ability to see a list of available channels. Supposedly, I could have fine tuned the channels, but I gave up trying to get the app to work. This was a great idea in theory, but in practice it wasn’t all that great and the information I had to hand over wasn’t worth it. As an antenna, the Winegard is a worthy competitor to the leading company, Mohu. In fact, I plan to replace my current Mohu model and continue using the Winegard. The sub-par app experience results in the loss of a star. Technically, you wouldn’t have to even use the app, if you’re willing to go back to the old-fashioned, time-consuming way of finding the right position. I was fortunate that the app worked during initial setup, so at least I got the benefit of that functionality. The Winegard is a little more expensive than its competitors. The app alone is not worth the extra cost, but it does perform better than others, and in the end, that’s what really counts. Hopefully it’ll continue performing this well when the leaves are back on the trees.

The app doesn’t help at all.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It didn’t give me as many channels as I expected, given it has a 60 mile range. Also the app, didn’t work. It was faulty. It said I had 48 channels available, but only had about 20, when I did scan on my TV.

Winegard PureTV Pro 60
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a waste of money. I used the software to find the best location to mount the antenna. It said that I should receive 74 channels. I mounted the antenna and ran a channel scan on my TV and only found 30 and only 22 were viewable. Only 2 network stations were found. Needless to say, the antenna was returned to Best Buy. Also to use the software you have to register with Winegard. Then you have to setup an account which has to be verified. Even though I received a message saying the account was verified, it would not let me log on to use the software until after the weekend when Winegard did something behind the scenes. All this to use a TV antenna.

Not better then the previous versions
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had high hopes for this flatwave because we already own three older ones, and they have all worked amazingly, but not they don't. I assumed they were just old and needed to be updated to the newer ones, but that is not the case. This works just as much as the ones we have. we are not able to get any local channels anymore, which is a disappointment. I returned it and am still looking for a better option.

Hard to set up this product
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I spent three hours messing around trying to set it up.I downloaded the app and registered the product. It went through finding the channels and then kept going back to the setup screen. I returned the product to the store because I was going to use it in our camper and if I would have to mess around that much each time we set up camper I would have to scream.

A lot of effort for minimal payout
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Basically this is an inexpensive antennae with a faulty app. The connection process is cumbersome and the output isn’t worth the effort. The company is very invasive with the information they require. I am returning it tomorrow

Good Interior Antenna
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Winegard PureTV 60 antenna is a surprisingly thin pad which connects to the TV via a coaxial cable. There is an inline power block located approximately 3 ½ feet from the TV connection end. The power block has a port where you attach the accompanying power cable, and the other end can be plugged into your 110v outlet or into a USB port. The system is simple to set up. I connected the antenna to our TV and to a power source and I downloaded the Winegard app to my android mobile phone (connecting the app to the antenna did take a few attempts). Following the Winegard app, I captured a scan of the code on the back of the antenna’s power block and once the antenna was identified, I followed the set-up procedures per the Winegard app. When attempting to find the best location for the antenna the Winegard app will show you where you are getting the strongest signal. I used push pins to hold the antenna to the wall where I assumed, we might get the best reception. In our case, I found an area on an exterior wall close to the ceiling that appeared to be the best placement, however, I set the antenna down on a low cabinet and the app showed this to be a better location. I ended up mounting the antenna approximately 3 feet above the floor on an interior wall, the app signal showed this to be the best mounting location. The app displayed 59 strong signals however we did not receive that many stations. This did not make a lot of difference to us as we mainly watch internet TV and wanted an interior TV antenna to pick up our local channels, especially when wanting to watch local news and weather. The tv pictures we are receiving are exceptional good video. We have had a few other, alleged top of the line, antennas, and we have had constant issues with glitching/intermittent signals with some of our local stations, with the Winegard PureTV 60 we have not had that issue so far. I believe this is the best inside interior TV antenna we had used to date, is it perfect, no, but it has done a better job or picking up our local stations than the interior antennas we have used.

Simple and effective
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This antenna is lightweight and thin making it easy to mount most anywhere. For those of you who remember old set top antennas (rabbit ears), this is just as straightforward to install. The app available for iOS and android makes it super simple to find the best possible position to mount the antenna. Gone are the days of stretching and tipping things around to find the best signal. The signal strength indicator in the app also gives you the number of channels found. Picture and sound quality is excellent.

young "Cord Cutters" might like this.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this for a elderly relative that was not able to afford cable or phone. He needed something to pass the time during the stay at home COVID19 quarantine. So this was suggested and I jumped on it. Here is my run down of the product and set up, with the issues I encountered. Good: Simple design with minimal cabling Light weight so it is easy to transport if needed Since weight is light, it sticks to the window with no problem (comes with command strip adhesive) Can be powered in many ways (usb to tv, usb to power brick, or usb to wall adaptor. Easy Coaxial cable installation to tv connection. Bad: Bar Code that was scanned kept coming up as invalid during setup Antenna is slim, so folding and creasing are very possible and will affect the product Attempting to connect via bluetooth was a pointless endeavor. I would show up as a device, but would never connect. Little to no real instructions to explain how to best setup, use, or change the scanning of channels Customer service was a joke. No "hello how may I help you", it was "yeah"( as in, what do you want). Then they were trying to blame the age of my phone (sorry it is a Pixel5 so that does not factor in to this) Ugly: Unable to find troubleshooting, installation, or forums about this product, so I was left to my own devices during the whole setup. Not all tv's are against the window, or close by. So more length of cables would be nice, even if using a adaptor to join them. So end result was I was able to get it installed, got channels scanned and he is watching HDTV to his hearts content. I would not recommend this to older people as it requires a account, Bluetooth, WIFI and a lot of patience to install this.
