Purchased this dual tuner to compliment our streaming services after "cutting the cord". I'm using this USB tuner to record OTA broadcasts on an SFF I5 desktop computer with a D++ displayport that I bought from Ebay. If you try this make sure the computer's OS is Windows 7 pro. This OS version has Windows Media Center as a standard option. Download Hauppauge's WinTV v8.5 which has the drivers included. Allow the program to install the drivers and then it will stop and ask for a WinTV key, don't enter the key and just cancel the install. The drivers are installed but WinTV isn't. The winTV application is very poor compared to Windows Media Center. Just start Media Center and follow the set up, both tuners should be recognized, the local tv guide installed and the ability to watch and record. The video is great, channels change quickly. The only issue with WMC is that the recorded video file format is unique to WMC and will only play with WMC. There are free solutions though.

After a week struggling to get a reliable operation, I discover the poor quality of the connector of antenna was the problem. After the setting, I disconnected the antenna for store them. In the next assembly, the pin in the connector of the antenna sunk, avoiding a proper contact with the male antenna connector. A pliers and a drop of super glue at the bottom of the antenna pin glue solved the issue. The next was the continuous crashing, so, I updated the software. Actually, the tuner still remains crashing but less frequently. Another detail is you need internet access to install the software, if you are in the wild, forget it. I recommend this TV card as your last resource, better buy a small TV. The only advantage is that you can carry it in your pocket. The image quality is as good as your monitor, there is no complaint about it.

I brought this one mainly to watch the TV on my computer. The recording function is very easy, and the quality is excellent. You could schedule it to record the TV show that you want to watch later, or you could record one and watch the other TV show. Because this device allows you to watch 2 TV SCREEN AS ONCE, which the best thing I like about it. Therefore, I use it every Sunday to watch 2 football games as once.

So far it works fairly well. Sometimes it chokes up or the sound stops so I close and reopen it. The worst thing is I cannot get the remote to work and there's not much help in the paperwork and website, which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. But I can watch TV on my laptop and even record shows or do a picture in picture.

The dual tuner and portability are great features. However, the device gets hot when in use, and even hotter (112°F with an infrared temperature gun) when both tuners are in use. The software isn't very polished but does have some nice capabilities that I did not find in third-party apps. There is a problem with the overall volume during live TV and playback of recordings when using their WinTV 8 software—it is very low. I was able to increase it some by changing the preferred audio CODEC setting to Microsoft's, however it is still lower than everything else. Playing a recording with another program, such as Windows Media Player, the volume is normal, so the issue is within their software.

    TV tuner (dual) for computer

The WinTV-dualHD USB Video Recorder has done exactly what I've needed it to do. It has a scheduler to schedule recordings of shows which I either want to keep or see at another time and are not available via web stream. It formats them in older, MPEG2 Transport Stream format (.ts) which Plex (and without transcoding at that!), SMPlayer and Win 10 Movies and TV all play. Set up is straightforward and it is easy to operate. I am well pleased with this purchase. It comes with a small whip antenna, but I use my boosted HD antenna with a splitter - 1 line to TV, the other to the Hauppauge. Reception is the same as the TV without the splitter in the line, so I am pleased with that as well. Good buy.

    Great Dual Tuner

After researching different options to watch OTA TV when we decided to drop satellite service (since we don't watch anything that's not local channels anymore), I decided to try this out instead of one of the OTA DVR boxes you can get. So far, it has turned out to work great for a much lower cost! I use it with a Windows 10 PC running Plex Media Server, which it integrates very easily with, for DVR service and streaming recordings and live TV to all our TVs and even remotely. We are over 30 miles away from the broadcast towers, so I got a pretty good long-range external antenna to use (but still had had to get a signal booster to pick up the one VHF channel in the area). The picture is great, as good as connecting a TV directly to the antenna. This has been working so great with this setup that I haven't tried connecting it to our Xbox, which it is supposed to work with. The WinTV software you get with it is OK, but I don't use it at all. This tuner does come with 3 months of the Plex Pass to try out the DVR and remote streaming capabilities. Luckily, the shows we record are only on 2 at a time, so being only a dual tuner hasn't caused an issue. There is one that we have to record from online (using Playon, which is a great service as well) in order to watch it later. If you are looking to cut the cord, but stay with a lower budget, this tuner is definitely something to consider.

I've never tried the cards you actually put in the pc so I can't compare, but this thing works great! I bought the one for the Xbox and used it forever through it but one day decided to see if it would work on the pc and it did but with limited functions. Since it was designed for Xbox you should use it for that. So anyway I decided to buy the Win-tv dual hd model and it works even better. I like the fact that I can record a show and watch another at the same time. Being strictly OTA with some exceptions of streaming services I'm starting to feel like less of a cord cutter. I only gave this 4 stars because of the Win-tv software, it is terrible. I use Windows Media Center and it's great. Win-tv software is sluggish, you change the channel and wait sometimes 10 sec whereas on wmc or even Kodi it's almost instantaneous. Using the native app you can do picture in picture if you enjoy that. No TV guide other than a generic one that automatically downloads from internet. So what I'm getting at is if you buy this have an alternative media streamer planned out. Don't use the native one. If you still use windows 7 or 8 use wmc. Or try kodi. I'm sure there's others but if you use the native app you'll be disappointed. It works it's just slow and sluggish. oh btw unless you live in a big city where channels are broadcast don't even try the cheap antenna provided. I live 40 miles away and can't pick anything up with it. That's just info for those of you that don't know any better. I highly recommend the Lava hd 8000.

    QAM lifesaver

Picked one of these up on sale to provide a QAM capable tuner to replace legacy analog cable boxes in a commercial setting. Cable company said their was no way they knew of that we could restore the functionality without running a new line parallel to the intrabuilding cables. Less than $60 later for this device a 5 year old laptop and an hdmi cable laying around later, problem solved. Picture quality is excellent, sound is perfect, setup is pretty straight forward. I deducted a star because I feel that the flexible extension on the usb end should be built in as part of the dongle instead of being a separate part that can become disconnected accidentally. In addition to the QAM capacity I tested this on my antenna at home out of curiosity and it pulled in the same channels as my tv tuner, and it worked perfectly on my pc. I played around with the recording functionality and the picture in picture and everything seemed to work as advertised.

This is a dual channel tuner that I purchased to replace a single channel tuner of the same make (the single channel tuner is to be used with a laptop in my RV). The dual channels allows watching one channel while recording another. You do need to be careful how you do this otherwise it will stop recording. Windows Media Center was a better choice for watching TV but is no longer available. The software that came with this tuner is flakey. Sometimes it "stops responding" and you need to start over. This is the reason for only four stars.

I have been happy with this unit. It was easy to setup and works pretty well. I have only been using it on over-the-air channels with the included antenna, but that works pretty good. I get a bit of stuttering but only when the signal strength drops (normally when I knock the antenna down). I can't select a channel directly, only by moving up and down the channels, but that is only a minor issue. This isn't a high end tuner, but it works for watching TV shows while I am working on my computer. The unit does get quite warm while in use, but I have it on a USB extension and away from the computer so it gets more air flow over it. YMMV.

This USB device has dual tuners for all Digital TV channels. I've used it on my entertainment PC at home and the sound and picture quality are great. I take it on the road to watch local TV on my traveling PC - I can watch sports on two channels at a time, anywhere I might be. It installed right away on both Windows 7 and Windows 10, no issues. The basic WinTv app does what it needs to do, and this tuner dropped right into Kodi TV and MediaCenter PC

I like this product. I bought so I could watch TV on my computer and record broadcast TV programs. I currently have Dish TV at home, but the current box I have only lets you record 2 programs at a time. For the most part this product works well. I've managed to lock it up once or twice by changing channels too quickly and it crashed on me once but restarting the program has always fixed the issue.

I did not give 5 stars since the software installation is a little bizarre. Providing a CD with the software is a little 90's like and of course it doesn't contain the latest version and getting the latest version from their website is not straight forward either. Other than that it works very well - and limitations are solely the result of the antenna and your location while using it.

HD Dual TVTuner for your computer. This little USB Stick carries really good reception. The HD picture quality is very good and easy to hookup. The software to record is decent, the remote included is small but works well. I was able to record 2 programs and watch a 3rd at the same time. Some choppyness on recorded playback. Great value for a PVR on your computer.

Reception is as good as a TV. Recording is easy and you can watch while recording two other shows simultaneously. Rewind and fast forward are in preset intervals so sometimes you have to watch about thirty seconds of commercials to avoid skipping some of the show

Easy Win 7 installation. Clear TV and DVR image. Great for capture TV pgm and watching TV while doing computer work. Product is the size of a pack of chewing gum and yet can handle two TV channels at the same time. No external power supply is needed. I had bought similar PVR from Hauppauge 10+ years ago and it was the size of a cable modem.
