Look no further if you’re looking for more insights from a scale beyond just weight. This scale may cost $$ but it has many features and insights that makes the cost worth its weight in gold. First, the scale is super easy to pair with the app. The app is intuitive and you can complete your first weigh-in within minutes. Beyond just weight and BMI, this scale also accurately measures body composition (in 3 parts), vascular age, pulse wave, standing heart rate and electrodermal activity. More about these measurements next. Body composition is broken out by muscle, fat and bone. And yes, this scale measures all 3 and doesn’t take more than 10 seconds to gather all the data it needs. Since it’s Wi-Fi, the measurements are recorded into your app and you can quickly see the trends on why your overall weight is changing. Is it muscle growth? Fat Mass decline? The app will tell you. Vascular age is neat as it tells you the conditions of your arteries in relation to your age. Pulse Wave measures the stiffness of your arteries. Stiff arteries are a sign of poor heart health. Electrodermal activity score is an indication of your nervous system’s control of the sweat glands. The results are either “Normal” or “Low” on the scale but the app will give you numerical results and plotted against a “suggested” score. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with Withins’ Body Comp Scale. Gives me additional insights that other scales can’t give. Automatically recording each weigh-in to the app and plotting over time to show me trends is very insightful. Besides plotting my data, the app also shows me “healthy ranges” and where my data points are in relation to. The scale is also family friendly as you can set “family members” or “share” your scale with someone. I can set my kids as “family members” and I can see all their stats within my app. I “shared” the scale with my wife so she has her own app to see her data that I have no visibility to. The scale also automatically knows who’s who so the data goes to the right person. Get this scale, you won’t be disappointed.

    Comprehensive Insights Into Your Well-Being

----- SUMMARY ----- Verdict: What sets the Withings Body Comp scale apart is its ability to provide a comprehensive body analysis. Just tracking weight doesn’t tell the whole story. If I want to gain a few pounds of muscle, I can track that with the Body Comp scale. There are many other insightful measurements that you won’t find on other scales, and the Health Mate app is rich with data. If you’re looking for insights into your well-being, consider the Withings Body Comp scale. Pros: - Sleek and stylish design - High-quality and durable - Provides a comprehensive body analysis - Automatically syncs data via Wi-Fi - Tracks up to 8 users independently - App shows trends and details - 12 months of Health+ included Cons: - Hefty price tag - Health+ needs more work ----- DETAILS ----- Setup: Setting up the Withings Body Comp scale is a breeze. With the Withings Health Mate app on your phone (available for Android and iOS), you go to Devices, then click the “+” and select the Body Comp scale. It’ll connect and start a software update. The slowest part is the software update, but even with that, the setup process only takes a few minutes. Design: This is easily the best-looking scale you’ll find on the market. I like the sleek design with the tempered-glass platform and bright display. The circular metal centerpiece is a nice touch. On the bottom, feet on each corner provide grip on smooth surfaces. Carpet feet that slide over the top of the regular feet are included in the box for use on thick carpets. There’s also a battery compartment (four AAA batteries are pre-installed) and a pairing button. Withings says the batteries will last about 15 months if you weigh yourself once a day. It’s a simple design that gets the job done and looks great doing it. Features & App: The Home tab in the Withings Health Mate app provides a simple overview of your measurements. You can tap on any measurement, such as Body Composition to take a closer look at the trends and details. Up to eight people can use the scale, and it’ll automatically detect who’s using it (based on weight) and record the results on the appropriate profile. The automatic detection works well for my wife and me, but users close in weight might need to manually select their profile. Since the Body Comp scale connects to Wi-Fi, you don’t have to have your phone nearby for measurements to be recorded. Across all smart scales I’ve seen, the Withings Body Comp seems to be the most comprehensive. For a full body composition analysis, you can track weight, body fat, water percentage, muscle mass, bone mass, and visceral fat. The scale also provides a couple of heart health measurements like standing heart rate and vascular age. Additionally, you're provided with an electrodermal activity score, which is measured by stimulating the sweat glands on your feet. The intent is to warn of peripheral neuropathy, most commonly caused by diabetes. Without access to medical-grade tools, it’s difficult to assess the accuracy of the Withings Body Comp scale measurements. However, the numbers seem to closely align with my measurements when I visit the doctor. That and the fact that I don’t see any unusual changes in my measurements from the scale makes me confident in its numbers. Tracking weight on it's own can have some benefits, but it doesn’t tell the whole story. It’s been very interesting to see measurements like body fat and muscle mass regularly. If you're looking for a wide range of health metrics conveniently in one device, the Withings Body Comp scale is for you. Health+: Included with the Withings Body Comp scale is 12 months of Health+. At the end of the 12 months, continuing the subscription is currently priced at $9.95 per month. Although Health+ has some useful features, it’s not required for any of the functionality mentioned above. What it adds are programs where you can choose to focus on activity, nutrition, or sleep. With various missions that involve, advice, workouts, meal suggestions, and articles, Health+ is a habit-based approach to healthier living. I like Health+ and think it’s a solid way to help users work towards healthier habits, but I likely won’t continue the subscription once the 12 months are up, mainly because I can find similar resources for free elsewhere and prefer to use my Peloton subscription for the workout piece. Perhaps with some more refinement and unique features, the Health+ subscription would be more enticing to me. ----- WHAT’S IN THE BOX ----- 1 x Body Comp Scale 4 x Carpet Feet 4 x AAA Batteries (Pre-Installed) 1 x Quick Installation Guide 1 x Product Guide

I recently got the Withings Body Comp Scale and I must say, I am really impressed. This scale not only accurately measures my weight, but also provides a variety of other measurements that are incredibly helpful in tracking my overall health and wellness. The scale is sleek with a modern design, with a color LCD display that is easy to read. It also connects seamlessly to my phone via Wi-Fi through the Withings App , allowing me to track my progress over time and set goals for myself. One of the best features about this scale is its ability to measure multiple things rather than just my weight . In addition to my weight, it provides data on my Body Fat Percentage, Muscle Mass, Visceral fat, Heart Rate, Vascular Age, BMI, Bone Mass and Water Retention. This information has been very helpful in guiding my weight loss, as I can track it through graphs throughout the week. Another great feature of the Withings Body Comp Scale is its ability to recognize multiple users. This is perfect for myself and significant other, as we can both use the scale regularly. It automatically detects which one of us is stepping on the scale and records our measurements separately, so we can both track our progress without any confusion. Overall, I would highly recommend the Withings Body Comp Scale to anyone looking for a high-quality, comprehensive scale that provides accurate and useful information about their overall health and wellness. It's easy to use, reliable, and has become part of my daily routine.

    A VERY CAPABLE SMART SCALE!

Monitoring personal health and wellness is important to many people. In fact, many medical professionals encourage home monitoring to benefit health, wellness or medical outcomes. I currently use both Withings BPM to monitor blood pressure, and Withings Scan Watch to collect and monitor a panoply of other health and wellness data. I also, of course, use the Withings app to aggregate and interpret all of the data from both of those devices. I also closely monitor my weight, as well as monitoring changes to my BMI, however I have been recording that data manually, without benefit of a “smart” scale. After filling many pages with weight readings, I am finally enhancing the process with a Withings Body Comp smart scale which provides a great deal of additional functionality beyond simply measuring body weight. The Withings Body Comp was the obvious choice of smart scales for me, since I am already heavily invested in the Withings device ecosystem. Additionally, Withings recently superseded the original Body Comp model, which had a monochrome display screen, with a new hardware model with a 2.8” high resolution full color screen, as well as some additional features. The new features that are currently available on the Body Comp are Athlete Mode, which uses a different algorithm for calculating fat mass, and Eyes Closed Mode which hides all measurement data from the display screen and replaces the metrics with smiling faces and other “upbeat” graphics to prevent some users from being discouraged by their data readings. I probably would have named that feature, ostrich mode or hide your head in the sand mode. I count myself among the users who are keenly interested in all of the data, otherwise I would not use the measurement devices. Both Pregnancy Mode and Basal Metabolic Rate measurements are promised in future firmware updates. The Withings Body Comp capabilities include numerous metrics, including: • Body Composition Analysis Metrics: o Weight  Fat Mass  Lean Mass  Water Mass  Bone Mass  Muscle Mass o BMI (Body Mass Index, which is a measure of body fat based on height and weight applicable to adults) o Body Fat (Total fat which includes both visible, surface level fat (cutaneous fat) and Visceral fat o Visceral Fat (Deep body fat which surrounds internal organs). o Vascular Age (begins reporting after 5 measurements) o Electrodermal Activity (via the sweat glands on the soles of feet) o Heart Rate (BPM) o Basal Metabolic Rate (promised in a future firmware release) Body composition analysis is performed using Bio-Electrical Impedance Analysis via electrodes embedded in the glass top of the Withings Body Comp. All data collected by the Body Comp is synchronized via Wi-Fi with the Withings app, which stores all data on the Withings cloud servers. The presentation of the data on the Body Comp display is customizable through selection options in the Withings app. A standard set of metrics is the default configuration, however I do not have much interest in viewing the weather forecast or air quality index while standing on the scale. Several other metrics are far more important to me, and I easily added those while removing the display of the data elements which are less important. The manner in which the data is displayed in the Withings app is clear and meaningful. Many data elements can be displayed in graphic or tabular format. The dashboard presents the most recent data readings. Each data element may be drilled down for additional data as well as examining the full set of all data or viewing the aggregated data over time intervals (timeline: week, month, year). The body composition data elements on the display screen are displayed as percentages, only. However, in the WIthings app they may be displayed as absolute values or as percentages. The Body Comp and Withings app qualify certain data elements with helpful descriptors such as “Normal”, “Optimal”, etc. Withings claims that the Body Comp weight function is accurate within 0.1 lbs (0.05 kg). The Body Comp has four weight sensors, wherein most of the electronic scales that I am familiar with have only one sensor. The Body Comp can store and track data for up to eight users. Users can have their own, private profiles with separate Withings accounts, or multiple users can share the same account and see each other’s saved data. My wife and I share our profile data. A minor annoyance is that the scale does not always properly retain who the last user was, and will switch itself to a different user upon the next use. This has occurred when the idle period was just seconds or if was overnight. This requires scrolling through the user names in order to reselect the correct user (who was in fact, the last prior user). The method for changing the selected user on the Body Comp is not well documented. In fact, the only place where I could find “directions” for changing users is in a brief animation on one of the initial setup/familiarization screens. I could find the information even after extensive searching on the Body Comp Support Site. User selection can be changed/scrolled by momentarily lifting one foot off the scale which will result in the display of the next user name in the list. Replacing the foot on top of the scale selects the displayed name. Obviously, this requires multiple repetitions until you arrive at the correct name to select. Beyond cursory initial use instructions, there is no detailed printed documentation. The Withings Body Comp Support Site has an extensive collection of user information, educational material, explanatory information and all manner of information pertaining to the Body Comp. However, that extensive collection of information is not assembled and organized in a particularly convenient or user friendly format. Many hours might be devoted to exploring each of the separate links and tabs, then backtracking to explore another tab or item, and/or using the webpages search function to hunt for the sought after information. Likewise, the Withings app has many screens and tabs in its “Help” section. I find that attempting to find necessary information is cumbersome and convoluted and requires excessive time and effort. Most information can probably be found somewhere on the site, but it is not organized or assembled in a practical or efficient way. I recognize and acknowledge that some information may change over time, and some information may even be highly dynamic, but many manufacturers of technology products deal with that by compiling a well organized, thoroughly hyperlinked HTML User Manual which contains the complete and comprehensive user information for the product in one location. Even better is a searchable PDF User Manual (whether “printed” from the HTML “document”, or a standalone PDF “document”) which allows users to find everything in one place without plowing through dozens of screens and exploring dozens of links. The Withings Body Comp is sleek and modern in appearance. It is available in either Black or White, and I selected the black version. The dark black, thick glass top is attached to a plastic base which houses the electronics and batteries. The top is mirror-like with its highly reflective surface, and the horizontally and vertically oriented embedded sensors are an even darker, contrasting shade of black. The Body Comp measures approximately 12.75” x 12.75” x just over 1” thick. It is powered by 4-AAA batteries, which Withings claims will operate the scale an average of 15 months (it is obviously far too soon to validate that claim). Setting up the Body Comp is simple, straightforward and quick. Upon powering on the Body Comp by removing the plastic tab which protrudes from the battery compartment (or by depressing the button on the back of the scale), then following the prompts displayed on the scale, the setup procedure is simple. If you are new to Withings, it is necessary to download and install the Withings app on a smartphone (Android or IOS) and create a Withings account to receive and store the data. Being a long-term user of the Withings app with my other Withings devices, I simply needed to add the Body Comp to my Withings profile via the app. The Body Comp initially must link with the smartphone using Bluetooth, but once the Body Comp is connected to a Wi-Fi network all data synchronization is automatically and immediately accomplished upon the completion of each scale reading. I am finding the Body Comp is producing generally consistent readings. Both the on-scale display and the app are kind (or cruel) enough to indicate any trends such as increases or decreases of many of the parameters. For the weight reading, the scale also depicts the increase or decrease since the prior measurement. Clearly, there is no means by which I can easily validate the accuracy of the measurements, but there is no reason for me to distrust the data. The use of a smart scale is more for the purpose of identifying meaningful trends in weight and body composition, rather than focusing on the absolute precision of each measurement. A smart scale is not a medical device. It is, however, a very useful tool for monitoring, managing and improving health and wellness. I am very pleased with the Withings Body Comp, and very glad to have acquired it at this time. This excellent body composition smart-scale is a great addition to our home-health toolkit.

    Insightful Health Scale

I recently changed from using a "fb" health tracking device to using an Apple Watch. For me the latest "fb" watch did not track my sleep properly, it basically said I never slept. My wife has not had the same issues, her tracker works fine for her. A few years back we got the "fb" scale and she had used it pretty regularly; so I'm familiar with the data it captured. This Withings scale is quite similar, but I actually find it to be much more sophisticated with better data collection (although I've used it just over a week). I had a lot of problems with getting the "fb" scale to register my Ecg and O2 saturation, but no problems at all with the Withings. The Withings is also much faster in collecting data, it takes between 25-30s to collect all data; the "fb" scale took closer to a minute. If you've never used a smart scale, you should use it at about the same time everyday if you want to get consistent results. I'd suggest either first thing in the morning, or right before bed time. For me, I found that I lose about a pound or two overnight (dehydration). Setting up the app and scale was very simple, just what you'd expect. The Body Comp Scale is very easy to use, just step on the scale and it automatically measures your weight, body fat percentage, heart rate, bone/water percentage and other statistics. This data automatically syncs with the Withings Health app, and with the Apple Health App. This makes it easy to view your progress over time (and in multiple formats). You can set goals and view your progress in achieving those goals (mostly weight). It is possible to share your progress with friends and family. My bathroom floor is a white tile, the white scale looks very simple and modern on the tile floor. The numbers on the scale are plenty large, I don't need to wear my glasses to see them. I believe the scale is very accurate. To test this I got on the scale, got my weight, then got back on holding 2x10lbs weights, and my new weight was exactly 20lbs heavier. I weighed the weights alone and the weight was 0.1lb shy of the expected 20 lbs. And I've not seen any significant swings in the data it records, except for my sleep data (which it has detected reliably, but my Light, Deep and Rem sleep varies significantly, as does my Awake periods). Getting this data integrated with other data from my Apple Watch makes for a pair that plays very well together (something Apple seems to do with very few). So having used a smart scale before, this Willings Body Comp scale is a great advance in data collection. I'm looking forward to creating a lot more data over time. The scale does require you to set up an account with Withings, and they claim all of your data will be kept confidential; no different than Apple and Apple health I'd guess. I'm quite impressed with the scale speed and data collection operations, it's a fine piece of health equipment. I recommend it to track your health data.

The Withings Body Comp scale is a solid choice for anyone looking for a reliable, and accurate way to track their weight, body fat percentage, and other health metrics. It is pretty easy to use and provides easy-to-understand results. All your data syncs with the Withings Health Mate app, which makes it easy to track your progress over time. I was already using the Withings app for my hybrid smartwatch, so this was a no-brainer for me. I’ll include some screenshots of the Withings app with my stats so people can see what kind of information they’ll be seeing once setting up the scale. Here are some of the pros and cons of the Withings Body Comp scale that will help you with your purchasing decision: Pros: Affordable: The Body Comp scale is very affordable, especially when compared to other high-quality scales on the market. Accurate: The Body Comp scale uses Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) to measure your body composition. BIA is a safe and effective way to measure your body fat percentage, muscle mass, and bone density. There is also a vascular age metric that takes a bit to compute but is very interesting in itself. I’m really excited to learn more about my body through this scale. Easy to use: The Body Comp scale is super easy to use. Simply step on the scale and it will automatically measure your weight, body fat percentage, and other key health metrics. Syncs with the Withings Health Mate app: The Body Comp scale syncs with the Withings Health Mate app, which makes it easy to track your progress over time. The app also allows you to set goals, track your diet and exercise, and share your progress with friends and family. The app will automatically find the scale once you turn it on and open up the app. It’s a super simple setup process. Cons: The app can be slow at times: The Withings Health Mate app can be a bit slow at times, especially when first loading. However, this is a minor gripe and doesn’t affect the overall performance or experience in my opinion. The scale looks kind of boring: The Body Comp scale is a basic white scale. It is not as stylish as some other options on the market, but it is still a very functional scale. I really enjoyed using the Withings Body Comp scale and really haven’t had any issues with it. This will replace my older smart scale and I’m excited to track my health trends and learn more about how each metric affects my overall health. If you just want a scale that tells you how much you weigh then look elsewhere, but if you want a full body analysis every time you step on the scale then look no further than the Withings Body Comp.

First off all scale arrived nicely packaged. I received mine with no damage. The scale comes with batteries however you must have a smart phone or tablet to download the app prior to using the scale. This took one star off for me because the set up process was very difficult. The app itself was easy to find and downloaded. You must first update the software then my trouble began. My scale was able to find and detect my Wi-Fi however the scale could not fully update. At this point I also realized that you have to have the update to even use the scale. It is not functional unless you can get through this process. Some of the cool features that I like is it recognizes whoever it is that steps on it. Other cool stuff is that it reads much more than just your weight. When standing on ot the screen flashes though other useful measurements like muscle percentage and body fat percentage. It also measures your heart rate. A few others as well. The app keeps track of your weigh ins and you can do all kinds of other cool stuff with the app. Overall I really like the scale. I had a hard time setting it up so I recommend to patient people who want a cool scale

Why I Bought It I chose the Withings Body Comp because of its clean software design, user-friendly app, and integration with the broader Withings health ecosystem. This wasn’t just about buying a scale—it was about investing in a platform. My goals are primarily weight loss and long-term health tracking, and after dealing with a generic no-name Amazon scale, this was a massive upgrade in both experience and accuracy. Setup & App Experience Setup was quick and seamless, and syncing via Wi-Fi works flawlessly. I connect it with both Apple Health and MyFitnessPal, which makes daily tracking effortless. The Withings app is beautifully designed, easy to navigate, and provides helpful trend reports and goal insights without overwhelming you with data. Daily Use & Reliability I weigh in twice a day, and the scale consistently recognizes me without issue. Readings are stable and trustworthy, with no glitches or sync problems so far. The screen is bright and readable, even in varied lighting conditions. Data & Metrics The metrics I focus on most are body fat %, muscle mass, and overall weight—all of which feel accurate and actionable. I’ve found body fat % tracking surprisingly useful for measuring progress beyond the scale. I share my data with my personal trainer, and the insights have been a game-changer for tailoring workouts. Design, Build, and Battery This scale feels solid, premium, and well-constructed. Its minimalist aesthetic looks right at home in a modern bathroom—very Apple-esque with clean lines and no clutter. Battery performance has been stellar—after one month of daily use, I’ve only lost 4%. No syncing or connectivity issues at all. Final Thoughts If you’re looking for a smart scale that does more than just track weight—and does it with style, accuracy, and consistency—this is absolutely worth it. I liked it so much I ended up upgrading to the Withings Body Scan to expand my health insights even further. The ecosystem support and app quality alone make this a standout. I’d highly recommend it to anyone serious about long-term health tracking.

TLDR: It's great, has everything you'd want, measurements are informative, and the color screen is easily the best. I don't think another scale out there offers such a rich and beautiful display on their scales. The app and setup process was easy to use and understand. THE SCREEN is simply the best. There's other scales out there, but I couldn't find one that offered this level of clarity and detail. It shows a good amount of data and the animations and colors are great. When you compare it to the others or previous model, you really can see the improvements there. Even the same data and how it's presented is significantly better. For example, trending data for your weight goes from a simple line graph with straight lines between point to a swooping line graph with more curves. This helps you see which way you're trending more and unfortunately for me, the wrong direction lol. But I like this because now I can do something about it. The Vascular age thing is cool too. Right now I'm older than I am, which is kind of a bummer, but just more information to feed my motivation on lifestyle changes. I do like the EDA function as well and the App itself explains what all this means so I'm not left guessing or have to do my own research. Some things I didn't like however are the super glossy glass finish, and some minor confusion stuff regarding the app. The super glossy finish is SUPER reflective which means two things; One, you have to clean it a ton to make it not look gross. Bare footprints, dust, fingerprints if you move it, etc. they all show up so easily especially if you get the dark one! If I had one thing offer Withings to improve the experience is to maybe use that frosted glass finish that some cellphones are using for the back of their phones instead of the reflective glass. And the second reason why the glossy finish isn't ideal is since it's so reflective, you get almost a mirror image of yourself in the most unflattering angle lol. Sure, that's my fault lol but I kind of wish I didn't have to see myself from my toes up haha. Just a reminder I need this scale to get back into shape. On part two, luckily the app has an "Eyes Closed" mode which hides the need for you to look down at the scale which is nice. As for what I didn't enjoy in the app is the guided weigh in. To explain this more, one morning I woke up and it said something to the effect of "Your vascular measurements are changing, let's do a guided weigh in" and I said yes. When I read it, it said I had to be on my feet for an hour and had to have been bare foot for at least 30 minutes, well I had just woken up so I canceled it because it said if I don't do those it may invalidate my results. Well I haven't seen that pop up again and I don't know how to get it back. I wish it said something like, "try again later" instead of "cancel" Dispite those two issues; glossy finish, and missing app assistance, I really really enjoy this product. The scale offers the best experience thanks to its screen and information it provides. I am a fan and can easily recommend it to my friends and family.

I've been using the Withings Body Comp Smart Scale (with color screen) for a week now, and I absolutely love it. Setting up the scale with the Withings app was very simple. I just answered a few questions, connected it to my Wi-Fi, and it was ready to start working in about a minute. The box also included batteries and four little legs for using the scale on carpet. As for performance, the scale works great. I love that it keeps track of all my metrics, such as weight, body composition, nerve health, vascular age, and heart rate. For each metric, it tracks health trends, displays a graph of those trends, or gives me a score to let me know I'm trending in a healthy range. I also love that the scale tells me the weather and air quality for my area. It's so convenient to have all of this literally at my feet. The scale even made me smile on my birthday by wishing me a happy birthday. Overall, I'm very impressed with the Withings Body Comp Smart Scale. It's a well-made, easy-to-use scale that provides a wealth of valuable information. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a way to track their health and fitness.

A stylish addition to your home, this WiFi connected scale helps monitor your heath with new metrics and helpful guidance toward meeting your health goals. The free app not only serves as the portal to your measurements and trends, but also guides you to making healthy habits. The new screen is easier to read with its higher resolution and now is full color to enhance how it shows information. This scale’s even longer battery life than the prior models now uses replaceable AAA batteries instead of a built-in rechargeable battery. Pros: * Fast, accurate and meaningful measurements. * Bright, clear screen with impactful color. * Easy to switch between household members if it doesn’t auto-identify. * Integrates with Apple Health, Google Health, and more. * Easy to set up and modify. * Long battery life (claims over a year) with replaceable AAA batteries. * Rubber feet keep it stationary. Cons: * Doesn’t feel as solidly constructed as my older Withings Body Cardio scale. Some quick comparisons to the older Body Cardio Scale: * Measures a wider range of body weights in smaller, more-account increments. * Measures 9 - 440lbs in 50g increments vs Body Cardio’s 9 - 396lbs in 100g increments. * Higher-resolution color screen. * 320 x 240 color screen vs Body Cardio’s 128 x 64 gray screen. * Longer battery life with easily replaced AAA batteries: * Average battery life of 15 months on 4x AAA batteries vs Body Cardio’s 12 months on its built-in rechargeable battery. * Same size but slightly thicker: * Scale dimension of 12.8” x 12.8” x 1.1” vs Body Cardio’s 12.8” x 12.8” x 0.7” I’ve been using the older Withings Body Cardio scale for years. I have always appreciated its style and build quality, and the measured metrics helps me stay healthy by spotting trends before they get too far out of whack. This new Body Comp scale takes everything I’ve loved and amps it up! The Body Comp is even more accurate than before and has new metrics to provide far deeper insights into my health as I get older. The scale itself is the same basic shape but is just a tad thicker than before (about 1/2” thicker) - perhaps to support the replaceable batteries. This actually can be an advantage to those with robot vacuums as the slightly thicker scale is easier for the bot vacs to bump into rather than roll on top of. The platform is still tempered glass which is easy to clean and comfortable to stand on. Prior models had built-in rechargeable batteries that lasted about a year of typical use before needing to be pugged in to a microUSB cable for a few hours. While the scale was mostly good about letting you know when it needed a charge, it was sometimes inconvenient to stand on the scale for a measurement but be denied as you forgot to charge it. This new scale has replaceable AAA batteries instead, and claims to last even longer before popping out the old for new batteries in an instant. If the scale’s battery is dead when you go to take a measurement, just step off, swap in 4 new AAA batteries that most have lying around, and you’re back up and measuring in minutes rather than hours. The new screen is about the same physical size as before, but doubles the resolution and adds color to make everything easier and more enjoyable to read. Even without my glasses on, I can read the screen more easily now. The use of color highlights bits of info on the screen and doesn’t just add color to the sake of using colors. Setup was super easy with a compatible iOS or Android smartphone for the free Withings app. First remove the battery saver plastic tab under the scale to power it on. On the screen are clear instructions with a QR code to scan with your phone to get the Withings app. Create an account if you don’t already have one, then choose to add the scale to your account. Both the scale’s clear screen and the great Withings app guide you through getting the scale on your home’s WiFi, associating it with your Withings account, and setting up all the basics for the scale. That’s it! As part of setup or at any time later, you can select your personal health goals such as maintaining weight, loosing weight (how much and how quickly), adding muscle, etc. The scale will provide guidance to meet those goals and nudge you in the right direction if the trends aren’t aligning with those goals. Now just place it in a convenient spot where you’ll get in the habit of taking your measurements at a consistent time each day. This is probably in a bathroom or closet, but can be anywhere your scale has good WiFi signal and a flat, stable surface. As part of the account setup in the app, you an add up to 7 more family members (8 total) for shared use. Each family member has personal goals, settings for what is measured and how information appears on the scale’s screen. You can even set up the scale to take measurements silently by adding them to the app and including them in trends and suggestions, but not showing them on the scale’s screen. This might be better motivation for those just starting on a weight loss journey. When you’re ready to take a measurement, just step on the scale to wake it up and start your body analysis. The first thing it does is guess which of the family members is using the scale. It shows your name for confirmation and if it got it wrong, you just lean left or right to scroll through the family members list until your name is shown. All measurements are quick and clearly shown on the screen with colorful animations. When done, it lets you know it’s safe to step off the scale until next time. The scale takes the measurements and shows some basic information on the screen while you’re standing there, but the real magic happens in the cloud and the app. Trends are spotted and guidance is offered with clear and concise summaries that you can dive deep into for charts and raw data. Some people may find motivation in the details while others may prefer to just get suggestions for how to improve. The app makes it easy to get whatever you need in the way you want it. As I’m getting older, key indications of my health before more impactful. I really appreciate being able to monitor my health from home and take action while it’s still easy to do so. Whether you’re just starting on your health improvement journey, a seasoned athlete trying to stay on top of your game or someone who just wants to keep an eye on major trends, this scale will be a trusted and helpful partner for years to come.

Withings has been a life changer for me and my wife! It all started about 5 years ago with my first Withings scale. I was about 15 pounds overweight and pre-diabetic. I had to make some changes. I wanted wi-fi connected scale that sent my info to my phone. My main goal was to lose weight and that was as far as I was looking down the health road. I bought the Withings scale for that and I was off to the races. I really never heard of Withings at that time. I started and It was amazing to have all that data at my finger tips. With the smart scales I could see every .4lbs or .8 lbs and see the trend lines which encouraged me to keep going and choose better meals and snacks and exercise. I followed up the scale with the Withings blood pressure monitor the BPM+ and began tracking that as well. As I began to lose weight, I could see my blood pressure drop from 130 to 120 with the loss of about 10 lbs! Then I saw the Sleep tracking pad in a CES story and could not wait to get my hands on that. I think that was around 2019 (according to my app) and that added a key insight to my health…focusing on getting the rest I needed and being able to tell heart rate, snoring and rem patterns….Just amazing. THEN….COVID…and taking my temperature everyday (for my work and general health) took on a new importance that was not there previously. I was able to get a Withings Thermo thermometer and began tracking that as well. Turns out 97.7 is my normal body temp. not 98.6! Who would have guessed…and THAT’S MY POINT…. YOU DON’T NEED TO GUESS ANYMORE! Withings Body Comp Scale, Thermo, BP and sleep is like having a doctors check up everyday!!! And it’s all there for your review…and your doctors review too. I have taken my phone into the doctors office and shown things to my doctor! To know where you want to go you have to know where you are and Withings does that accurately and very detailed. It picks up on the subtle (and no so subtle) clues our body gives us. Their algorithms are world class and only getting smarter at an ever increasing rate! And here I am full circle, back to getting my hands on the latest scale from my first 5 years ago. The Withings Body Comp (2023) And WOW is all I can say. It nails the weight, muscle mass, fat mass, % water (to make sure I am staying hydrated) Bone mass (which is super important to my wife as she is pre-osteoporosis), and visceral fat! All those metrics every morning make me stop and focus on …what am I going to eat today…be sure to drink more to bump my hydration up… I want to get that run in…I am trending down on my fat and BMI and that encourages me to do more!!! It really is just so transformative if you commit and it’s hard not to when all the info is staring you in the face in a beautiful well deigned app!!! The app is just amazing and USEFULL!!!!! It’s one of my top of the day app check ins before social media and news apps! I can’t say enough about it! I also absolutely love the color LCD. It really pops and is far more engaging than the old LCD screen. So bright and vivid. There are still surprises though…After a few years of really working hard on my body I was shocked to see that my vascular age (the pliability of my arteries) is 5-10 years older than I actually am! I was shocked!!! That is a red flag for cardiovascular disease…and I had NO IDEA until now... NEW Challenge excepted! I would never have known about that and now I can change that! Overall…If you are wanting to live the best life you can and be the healthiest you can…Be sure to bring Withings along with you. There is no one in this space that delivers the data like Withings and their app. It also integrates perfectly into my Apple ecosphere. Knowledge is power and Withings is a powerful ecosystem and this scale is the foundation!!! GET IT! LIVE BETTER!!! THANK YOU Withings!

    Nice Scale, Questionable Composition Accuracy

The Withings Body Comp scale with color screen is a fairly good scale if you are looking to track different metrics about your body. The setup is fairly simple, though, it does require an app to be downloaded on your phone or tablet, as you initiate setup by scanning a qr code on the screen once you unbox the scale. The process ultimately goes smoothly, as you mainly just connect it to your existing account, or create a new one, which you do within your phone. From there, you pair it with your local wifi network, make sure you pick a 2.4GHz band, and not 5GHz. It will look for any firmware updates and then you'll be good to use it. All you need to do to activate the scale is step onto it. It doesn't need tapped to be on prior like some scales. Once you step on, you must stand ridiculously still, even the faintest twitch as you balance looking down causes the scale to deviate measurements up and down tenths of a pound so that it won't take a measurement. When it does that, I haven't been able to get it to read, it just errors out and I have to step off and then step back on, of which it then gets my weight within 2 seconds. Quite annoying at times, not sure why it does that. Once you get weighed, STAY ON THE SCALE! After the weigh in, it will prompt which user you are and you can lift a foot to go left or right to pick who you are if there are multiple people tied to your account for tracking, or you can pick Other for a random person you don't care to track. I have the Withings Thermo thermometer, so already had profiles setup for myself and family, so it was extremely simple to pair the first weight with who was on it. After that initial weigh in, it tracks you, and all subsequent weights default to the person that weighs closest. This might pose a problem if you and your partner or family member are extremely close on weight, but again, you can select who you want the reading to tie to. After that selection, it will then go through the "Body Comp" measurements of fat, muscle, vascular age, and EDA, as well as tell you the weather and air quality for the day, which is appreciated. Overall, it is well built and should fit into most decorum, comes with separate feet for use on carpet, and provides a plethora of information. How accurate that information is, outside of weight....is hard to say. I compared it to data from my smartwatch, as well as another brand of scales that does similar measurements, and I can't get any 2 of the 3 to be even remotely close. Except for the BMI, which is a simple mathematical calculation based on you age, weight, sex and height. It's intriguing to have and know this information, but unless you go and get a yearly professional test done by your Dr or otherwise to compare it with, I'm not sure it's totally accurate, as measurements under similar conditions at the same times each day, as you're supposed to do, yield varying results up and down a few percentage points. As well as the frequent erroring when you step on the scale and it doesn't pin down a measurement and you have to step off/on again.

So far it has been easy to use, had the right level of data that displays on the scale itself, and has an easy to use app that integrates well with Google and Samsung fit apps. Online official reviews say that it is pretty accurate, but I really have no idea...definitely has different measures that make more sense than the cheaper Xiaomi brand I had before.

Lots of extra useful features are on here like heart rate, EDA, body fat percentage, there is also an app that shows your body composition trends, but it is a bit pricey for a scale. Hopefully it lasts a long time. If so I'd change my rating to a 5.

I don't have a way to verify if all this is correct but seems accurate. My wife and I share it and you can set up multiple profiles. cool feature it can tell who is on it just by standing on it and each day you weigh yourself it sends the info to your phone with the free app and its nice for accountability.

I replaced a very, very old scale with the Withings Body Comp Complete Analysis Smart Wi-Fi Scale because my old scale was clearly inaccurate and would give vastly different readings within two or three weigh-ins. I was excited to have a new scale, hopeful to have an accurate and smarter way to understand my weight and the weight of my family living in my home. Overall, the setup is very simple - it was able to connect to the app and WiFi with no issues. The scale itself looks upscale and very nice (no pun intended!) and has a smaller overall footprint than my older scale. I did not score this smart scale with 5 stars for a couple of reasons: - Accuracy: I found the accuracy to be consistent inconsistent with multiple family members. What does that mean? I stepped on the scale and it would give a final reading, maybe 50% of the time identifying the right family member. Minutes later, I stepped on the scale and it was reading anywhere between 1-7lbs different than the initial reading -- and still didn't identify it as me - The BMI index and body comp measurements were also all over the place. - This is a very small complaint, but the location of the screen would be so much better if it were placed an inch or two lower on the scale; I have the scale sitting up against the wall underneath hand towels and it was impossible to see the screen. Overall, I'd score this scale as a 3/5. The inconsistent readings are concerning to me and I am not sure how accurate the scale truly is.
