I waited a looong time for the ScanWatch to become available. It looks nice but does not deliver. Pros: 1- Can do ECG and O2 levels manually, but it is not easy to do. 2- Tracks heart rate 24/7. 3- It seems very well built. 4- It notifies you if you have an irregular heartbeat (I did, but my doctor said that there was not a problem) - still good to get the warning. Cons: 1- Horrible at tracking sleep (counts TV or computer use as sleep). It is usually off by multiple hours per night. 3- Overnight O2 level is an average; I need to track it by individual readings, like with heart rate. 4- Activity tracking is not accurate (it keeps giving me cycling results when I have not been on a bicycle in a decade. 5- The clock itself is occasionally off by 12-15 minutes when I wake up, then it either needs a manual reset or will reset on its own. 6- A fully charged battery depletes in 3-4 days. 7- I waited a looong time for the ScanWatch to become available. NOTE: While the breathing disturbance monitoring is nice (the reason I bought the watch), given all of the other issues like not being able to determine if I am sleeping or playing a computer game, I will wait for an upcoming sleep study appointment to see if the ScanWatch results match the formal study results. Overall: Not recommended.

The unboxing is pretty simple, the box contains the watch, charger and travel pouch which looks great. I got the 35mm size that is perfect for my wrist, the watch comes with a silicon wrist strap that feels really comfortable, in black color looks fantastic. Once I opened the box and took out the watch, I downloaded the app and was ready to use. The app is necessary to set up the watch. The app shows you everything you need to know during the installation process. Once the watch was synchronize I was able to start the ECG and SpO2 in real time and see the results in the watch and in the app. The watch can track workout, walking, running and breath, even during sleeping time keep track of your oxygen. The best thing in my opinion is that the watch keeps monitoring your heartbeat all the time, and if you use any of the features you can get an instant report which is so nice. Besides that, the watch can show you notifications from the most common apps in your phone, this can be able and disable any time. The scanwatch is water resistant up to 50m and, is compatible with most common wrist bands so you can personalize it. The Scanwatch looks like a high end watch and nobody can tell that is a portable ECG in your wrist ;) In summary, this is a good looking watch that has great features to help you to keep tracking of your heart health. I highly recommend it.

Love how this watch looks like a real watch and yet has the smart features which are very useful. Most importantly, it connects to other Withings devices. Long lasting battery! Received lots of compliments and so happy I made the decision to get it.

This is a watch for someone who wants a smart watch but needs a traditional look instead of digital screen. Battey life is good and its not too heavier.

This is my first experience with a smartwatch, and it’s mostly been very positive. It’s been more than 25 years since I wore a watch, so I thought I would hate having one on my wrist 24/7. I was relieved to find that this Withings smartwatch is lightweight and very comfortable. Most of the time I’m not even aware it’s there. Over the years, I have considered getting a smartwatch for various reasons, but I was put off by the appearance. I prefer a more traditional watch face over the black glass square on a band. Enter the Withings ScanWatch. I really appreciate the classic look of the round analog watch face. When accessing the smart features or viewing notifications, a circle in the upper portion of the face illuminates with an easy-to-read white-on-black text or graphic – easily visible in any light – that conveys the necessary information and then returns to the nearly invisible black circle. I decided to give this smartwatch a try because I’m not as young as I used to be and, honestly, I lack the discipline to stick to a rigid exercise program. I hoped that being able to see at a glance my day’s steps might be the motivation I need to be more active; so far, that strategy has worked. I really appreciate that I can set custom goals for steps and monitor my progress by glancing at my wrist. There is a dial inset in the watch face that rotates 0-100% and tells me my percentage complete of the day’s goal. The Health Mate app uses my phone’s GPS to display distance and route and pace information for my activities. Also, I’m up and down stairs many times a day, and the watch tells me how many flights I’ve traversed. By pressing the crown (the rotating button on the right side of the watch face), you have access to the full range of realtime-monitored stats like steps, calories burned, heart rate, miles walked, blood oxygen saturation, on-demand ECG, etc. The function of a long-press of the button can be changed from within the phone app. It’s all very intuitive. A light vibration notifies me of incoming texts and phone calls, by default. I opted to add notification of incoming e-mails, and the display tells me who it’s from and scrolls the Subject across the screen. From within the Health Mate app, you can choose/change what notifications you receive on the watch. My one gripe? There is no functionality to send an automatic acknowledgement (say, to a text) from the watch; that is really one of the only things I would change if I could. Some other features built into the watch are proving to be very informative. Within the smartphone app, there is access to daily 24-hour logs of a plethora of information (steps, sleep duration and sleep score, average heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, electrocardiogram (ECG), breathing disturbances – and more), but I’m most intrigued by information regarding my sleep cycle, pulse oximetry, and heart rate. My wife tells me I snore like a big dog, and I have family members that have diagnosed sleep apnea. It’s reassuring to be able to look at a night’s report and see no concerning information. I almost forgot battery life. That’s kind of fitting, as it appears the battery is the component of this Withings ScanWatch that I will think about least. Three days ago, I had run the battery down to 30%. I placed the watch on the included USB charger for about an hour to reach full charge. It’s now been back on my wrist for three days and is still reading 100%. Withings claims a 30-day battery life. I believe it. Overall, I’m very pleased with the traditional analog appearance of the watch, the smart styling, and I love the trove of information available with the push of a button. If you like, you can deep-dive into the stats to your heart’s content from within the Health Mate app. I am very happy my Withings ScanWatch.

I've owned a Nokia Steel HR, Steel HR Saphire, and now the ScanWatch - it's better than ever and the digital crown makes the upgrade worth it, as does the increased resolution. The slightly larger diameter (38mm) does make the watch more substantial and is the right size for a skinny wristed guy.

love this watch. if you want everything on your watch like an Apple Watch or Samsung watch, this is not the watch for you. But if you like hybrid watches that look great and minimalistic while still getting your steps in and text messages/notifications than this is amazing

This watch intrigued me originally because of its price tag, which matches that of the latest Apple Watch SE. Yes, I know this isn’t a competitor to the Apple Watch, but the contrast between those two devices draws me in. The ScanWatch comes in a wool pouch that resembles a soft glasses case, along with its proprietary pin-style charging cable. The stainless steel watch has classic styling with a small circular cutout in the top half of the face for the digital display. Only 5-minute tick marks are present on the face (no numbers), and the bottom half of the face maintains symmetry with the top circular cutout; in the bottom cutout is another analog dial that shows your activity in terms of percent of goal. The crown on the side of the watch serves as navigation for the smart components, where rotation navigates menus and pressing the crown selects items in those menus. This is not a full smart watch but has a good number of features and sensors. There is no onboard speaker, but the vibration motor works well, especially as a sort of silent alarm for waking up in the morning. The watch supports activity tracking (GPS, steps, elevation, distance, workouts), as well as measuring heart rate, ECG and Sp02 levels, along with sleep tracking. The smart notifications are just that—notifications—and can’t really be interacted with from the watch; you can read a text message as it is scrolled across the small digital screen, but you can’t reply, nor can you dismiss an incoming phone call. The watch also features Quicklook which activates the digital screen when raised. The battery life is great, although it shouldn’t be a surprise as the small black and white display doesn’t get much use except for quick glances of information. During an eight-day testing period, the fully charged battery depleted only to 40%. Withings indicates a battery life of up to 30 days is possible. An integral component of this watch is the Health Mate mobile application available on Android and iOS. It presents a very clean and bright interface and is a joy to use; it integrates with Apple Health and allows for some customization of features (for instance, when long pressing the crown you can launch the ECG, Sp02 or workout modes on the watch). And, while I don’t see this app replacing your existing health app, it does provide a great set of tutorials for first time users of the watch. It is no surprise, but this watch is a good watch—because it is a watch first, and smart second. You benefit from this with great battery life, but if you’re used to a more typical smart watch, this will be a step down in features. I imagine someone who is a relatively light smartphone user would like a device like this, as it may help to reduce the number of times you pick up your phone throughout the day, thanks to being able to glance at notifications as they arrive. That said, an Apple Watch could be used in exactly the same fashion, so there has to be a specific market for a device like the ScanWatch. I’m sure I’ll be criticized for comparing this to the Apple Watch SE. I’m an Apple Watch user myself, but I also have a small collection of ‘analog’ watches that I’ve accumulated over the years—so I get the attraction to a nice-looking timepiece. And that’s where, if anywhere, the ScanWatch has to fit: as a nice timepiece. At $279, it’s not too expensive for a nice watch, and it also happens to include an array of modern smartwatch sensors. If you happen to fit into the category of people that would benefit from this kind of device, then I suppose this is worth considering, but, it would be hard for me to justify this over more robust offerings at a similar price point.
