I have played through 1 and a half tiers of this game and I really enjoy it. The career mode is filled with challenges that not only reward you with your finish placement but with every spin out, crash or damage you inflict on your opponent. I find the demolishing derbies the hardest part of this game. The physics feel familiar to me. If you’ve played any of the other racing games ie NFS, Forza etc, you will pick up the controls easily. There are plenty of cars and upgrades to choose from as your bank amount increases and DLC is also available with some pretty wacky looking vehicles. This game is really fun in multiplayer mode. Real life opponents can be quite brutal as getting around the track in one piece can prove difficult. It’s amusing to see the carnage of automotive carcasses laying about the track and car parts strewn everywhere. It’s most gratifying crossing the finish line with nothing more than a badly damaged frame left of your car. There are also plenty of wild fantasy tracks guaranteed cause maximum destruction in the first few laps. This game is for the racer in all of us that doesn’t mind rubbing a little paint or worse.

First things first. This is NOT Burnout and does not carry the same sense of speed. The thrill and challenge in this game lay in the physics of the destruction. There is a certain joy to be had in seeing the fender of a competitor on the track and knowing you’re the one that ripped it off on the previous lap.
As mentioned in the summary, this game is very reminiscent of the Destruction Derby series on the PS1, particularly Destruction Derby 2. The gameplay is not “sim” but not quite “arcade” either. It strikes a nice balance. It looks fairly good, especially considering everything that is running in the background, like the physics and AI.
Speaking of AI, it’s solid. Not a pushover but not crazy challenging either. You will lose races, but won’t feel cheated.
Sounds are pretty well done, with some minor bugs on the XB version at the moment. And the soundtrack, Rock/Metal, just like Destruction Derby 2 was.
If there is any knock, it would be load times. They’re a bit longer than many titles and is hopefully something that’ll get cleaned up in a future patch.
Overall, for $40, this is an extremely fun game.
My copy was played on an XBOX ONE X, loaded on the internal HDD.

The Best Racing Game Not Named Forza

Wreckfest is the spiritual successor to the original Flatout games created by Bugbear (Flatout 1, Flatout 2, Flatout: Ultimate Carnage). Flatout 3, not created by Bugbear, was panned across the board since it was a bad game. Flatout 4 while not created by Bugbear, is still a pretty good game, and a big step up from Flatout 3. That said, it still wasn't close to the original Flatout games created by Bugbear. Enter Wreckfest, the true sequel to Bugbear's classic Flatout games in everything but name. If you enjoy destruction, top notch physics, and just an overall enjoyable arcade racing game, look no further than Wreckfest. It's not perfect & has a few issues such as the A.I. sometimes being cheap & the loading times being long, however they did recently release a patch to improve both. Wreckfest is an excellent racing game.

Fun destruction without the blood

Pretty decent game. Was looking for a demolition derby game to play with my 11 year old...with a fun level of destruction, but without blood or death. This game provides just that!
There are only a couple of things I don't really like...
1) As you advance in Career Mode, there are some restricted events or races...this is normal and fine, but I found it difficult to understand what steps were required in order to access these events. Example: Maybe you need to buy a specific type of car to qualify for the race. Or, maybe you need to upgrade / downgrade a specific vehicle. This part is not user-friendly.
2) The Career Mode is relatively short. You can enter custom events (outside the career events), which is good.
Overall, it has been pretty solid. I had the opportunity to purchase it on sale, so I'd say the value was great. (If I spent $59 on the game, I'd be pretty disappointed).

So I've had Wreckfest purchased on Steam for years now, but haven't been able to upgrade my PC enough to play it, so I bought it again on console and am having a blast. There's no mod support yet, but hopefully console will get it. There's a couple dozen cars as of right now, plus like 6 or so silly cars, damage models are pretty realistic with the minor bangs and crashes, but once you start slamming the cars for awhile, they turned into foil balls basically. AI are pretty aggressive, which makes it fun, and challenging at the same time. What little I've played online seems to be good as well, everyone I was with had a max of 80 ping and nothing really lagged or ruined the experience for everyone else.
It's not as silly or crazy as Flatout, but it's made by the same guys and published by THQNordic, so... Praise both of those companies. If you like racing and being a little aggressive/beating doors in, this is the game for you.

Played on the PC originally, and it is fun to play. Glad to hear it came out for the consoles. Does a real good job of looking like the PC counterpart minus the nice 60FPS the PC has. Crashes and physics are great and makes the races and demolition derby a joy to play.

For the budget price, the graphics are nice and there is a fair amount of content to keep you busy. If I had one complaint, it would be that the loading times can be a little long.

Nothing like racing around or smashing into some other junkers to blow off some steam. The game play engine is steady and offers reliable and realistic play, but the load times are abysmal. Even scrolling between cars in your garage initiates a short but very annoying delay. Also, the interface can be a bit confusing until you figure it out, such as when events are locked and you don't know why (wrong class of car, wrong drive-train, wrong country, etc). All in all, happy with the purchase despite the negatives.

This is a pretty fun game. However the load times are a killer. They take forever when loading up a new race. Other than that, it's really good graphics for the destruction that these cars have.

I been watching this game for a long time. This is no easy demo or racing game, but not to difficult. The only cons I have about the game is the lack of cars, customization it's there but it's no Forza customization, I guess for $40 I can't really complain but NO COUCH CO-OP!!!! Come on .... the music is not for everyone but it fits at times
Pros : it's a fun game with good graphics , good controls for a great price and that's something you don't see that often .
