Customers often highlight the excellent gameplay and large roster size as major strengths of WWE 2K16. Many also appreciate the improved career mode and the game's increased realism, although some find the controls challenging and the submission system difficult to master. A few players also mentioned issues with bugs and loading times. Overall, the positive feedback on gameplay and roster outweighs the negative comments on specific mechanics.

Better than last year

The last WWE game to truly capture my attention was WWE 13. With that said, 2k16 feels like a huge step back in the right direction.
Let me preface my review by saying I've only played about 5 matches but in those 5 matches the drama and excitement was something that was definitely present. Something I haven't felt in a wrestling game in a long time.
The all new limited reversal system is a welcomed addition. Playing with Seth Rollins I had 5 reversals at my disposal allowing myself to burn one off here and there while when playing as Cactus Jack and only having 3, I found myself taking a bit more of a beating holding on to my few reversals for bigger moments.
Before, strategy in a wrestling game was to revserse almost everything, gain a special, hit the special, gain finisher, hit finisher and so one, it had a more mortal kombat like feel to it.
With the new systems in place, Limited reversals and stamina, I found myself actually strategizing about how I'm going to wear down my opponent with out getting too gassed and keeping enough "just in case" reversals in my arsenal. And changes depending on who I was and who I was taking on.
The graphics look a lot better than last years game, although I think there is some room for improvement (they'll get there)
There are tons of superstars (120) most of which all need to be unlocked, but still a good mix already at your disposal
Lots of match types to choose from with the inclusion of some favorites that were missing last year.
Create and Arena and title are back and it was fun to mess with the options on those modes.
One thing I've really come to like is the atmosphere of the game while playing in a match, commentary is still pretty bad, but the crowd getting into it and the expressions and body language by the wresting models as the game goes on makes the drama feel more
Epic.
I don't think it's a great game, it's not perfect, but it certainly isn't nowhere as bad as most folks seem to make it out to be. There are a lot of improvements that have been made since last years entry and in many ways this is the game we should have gotten last year to be honest. I think of your a wrestling fan of the past, present or both, you'll be thoroughly entertained, especially with all of different modes at your fingertips.
I'm giving this game 4/5 stars, 8.4/10!
Can't wait to dig into it more.

This is 2K's second attempt at a wrestling game on these new consoles. Last year's effort was missing a ton of features and modes and what was offered felt bare bones. This year offers a career mode that is much more fleshed out and allows you to create a character that you can take through a full career similar to 2K's other sports games and the experience is fun.
There are definitely some glitchy moments like cut scenes that pause randomly to load dialogue or the AI going nuts for no reasons during matches, flying all over the place. The game looks good and plays OK. It has plenty of match types and a large roster of stars.
My biggest complaint is I am kind of done with these showcase modes. It was neat to relive the attitude era a few games ago, but if I want to relive a certain superstar's career (this year's showcase is about Steve Austin) I would rather watch it on their network, not play it.
Overall I think if you like wrestling and you liked the controls of the previous games this one is much more fleshed out than WWE 2K15

Anyone who has played 2K16 compared to 2K15 knows right off the bat that we are in for a treat. 2K15 quite frankly was on of the worst wrestling games ever produced under the WWE banner, but this year 2K Sports and WWE have made a comeback. WWE 2K16 boasts the largest roster in WWE history with 100 slots for CAW so you have the opportunity to make one heck of a roster. The new reversal system makes the game quite a bit more strategic and challenging especially for long time players who have mastered the old reversal system. There is new features throughout my career, showcase mode, as well as many of the strikes/grapples have been re-animated for a much more realistic look and feel.
Overall, I can definitely recommend this game for both new or old wrestling fans. The reversal system favors newer players, the roster favors everybody, and there is nearly endless replay value with how many variable options come from exhibition or universe mode.
Pros: large roster, showcase mode, improved gameplay, 100 CAW slots
Cons: Bizarre missing match types like tag team ladder matches, and the new submission system is absolutely awful. I used to play on legendary in previous games, and now only win about 50% of the time on hard because when you get put in a submission you are nearly guaranteed to lose.

This game improves in almost every aspect of the previous years version. Larger roster, more customization and a better career mode. All GREAT! My only issues are with career skill point progression and the new submission mini-game/system.
In career it seems skill points are rewarded in far to small amounts making career a long grind to improve your character. I would like nice progression with more improvement sooner so I really have a choice of when I want to advance to a new belt or if I just want to continue to DOMINATE the existing competition. It takes the fun out of the game when it becomes too much of a grind. That being said, the exhibition modes and creation suite tools are GREAT!
New in this version is a submission mini-game that I still have yet to get a handle on. Maybe it just takes time, but so far I'm not having much luck. I think this needs to be tweaked or something though as submissions for my just aren't working.
Other than those few issues that game is a great buy and I enjoy it a TON!

It felt like a big match. It played like a big match. Great graphics, huge and impressive roster. Some minor glitches that need to be patched. Mangers play and act as they should. I retained the tag team gold with a well placed distraction. Just like on tv. And there are quite a few surprises for managers. I highly recommend getting the season pass or at the very least invest in the unlock everything feature. With such a huge roster and a wealth of options, this year's game should not be missed. This game has great graphics, the gear looks amazing, the crowd sounds amazing, and the game feels real. The submission system will take time to get used too for some, and the reversal system is cool and add that much needed ring drama. Go forth and buy this game, create, and make your own wrestlemania moments.

WWE games have been an annual experience for over a decade and practically the sole professional wrestling video game experience to be had. Fortunately the series continues to base itself on the Yukes gameplay engine, the absolute best approximation of feeling like your playing pro wrestling.
WWE 2k16 is the sophomore release on the current Gen systems (ps4 / xone) and refinement abounds in every aspect. Almost every match type imaginable is now included as well as the largest roster of wrestlers old and new ever assembled. The creation suite has been restored to a ridiculous depth, from create a wrestler/diva to tv shows, arenas, and titles. The ability to upload your own images and the awesome new face capture with supported app enable you to truly place yourself in game, tattoos and all!
Matches continue to achieve closer approximation to authentic pacing allowing you a play experience that feels authentic. There is an incredible amount of content and customization here, enough to keep you busy for months, even without dlc to be released. Wrestlers look better than ever with all their unique mannerisms and moves represented as well as entrances. You really feel each star is captured accurately in game.
Graphics are also a minor weakness, however. It may be the best looking WWE game ever but that doesn't necessarily equate to it looking on the level of other current games. 2k16 looks very last Gen and not nearly on par with other releases this year like Battlefront or Fallout 4.
Customization is amazing save for the inability to upload your own music. While this is due to some copyright issues, it still disappoints being unable to fully realize your created superstars with appropriate music, considering how essential that is to pro wrestlers.
The ability to create yourself in game down to your actual face and full complement of moves is extraordinary...what to do with yourself in the WWE, however, not so much.
Universe mode and the custom character career continue to be barebones in depth, sparse in story, consequence or choice. With so many current games allowing the player amazing levels of choice and story interaction it remains WWE's largest flaw in this regard.
Largest roster of wrestlers, every match possible, great gameplay, WWE 2k16 looks and feels closest to the real thing as ever and you can truly put yourself into that universe.
Sadly, theres just not much to do once your there except play a match and the series continues to miss the boat on the one aspect that would truly make it great, story.
It should be noted Hulk Hogans removal was really unnecessary and the lack of the 4 horsewomen, the most exciting divas as well as wwe superstars currently is absolutely inexcuseable, especially with an attempt to add much more to the diva aspect.
In conclusion, do I recommend the game? Heck yeah, to quote Stone Cold. Best wrestling game to date and enough content to occupy you for months.
Be aware that the game feels rather shallow quickly however lacking a meaningful and immersive story element.

WWE2K16 adds back in almost everything that was missing from 2K15 and has a giant roster, but it's still plagued by the issues found in all other WWE games. The graphics are weird, and from some angles look incredible while elsewhere looking terrible. Yukes has to be the worst in the world at creating the look and feel of a live arena, and the entrances, as usual, are extremely goofy. They have added a new reversal system, which limits the amount of reversals you can do and makes the matches feel more authentic. The gameplay otherwise feels very similar to the next gen versions of 2K15, which is a good thing. The biggest blunder on this release is the horrendous new submission system, which isn't even properly explained in the game.
MyCareer and Showcase mode are back, and are as fun as they were the first time around. Overall, it's a solid title for WWE fans, but those who aren't fans of wrestling should steer clear.

My kids really enjoy 2k16 more then last year. They said it's better graphically and they like all the wrestlers you can pick from. They said it still needs improvement with the controls but it's better. I love watching them play and telling them who was my favorite wrestler.

Still not as good as it used to be but is alot better than last years 2k15. Bigger rooseter more match types but non create a story and non create a finishers. And create a superstar still is not good. But is very enjoyable.

if you bought 2k15 and was disappointed, then 2k16 will make that bitter taste go away. animations are much smoother, gameplay is realistic and the roster is bigger. there are many more match types to choose from and new mechanics to add to the authenticity of the wwe. career mode is back but personally lacks once again. if you are into sport games and just for the heck of having fun, go for this

Overall, this one is ok. The roster is huge but multiple slots for the same wrestler like Sting, Sting '99, and Sting '91 is a little much. They could've added more wrestlers like Alberto Del Rio or CM Punk vs. 3 versions of Sting and 4 versions of Stone Cold. My Career is LONG. Takes a while to get through NXT. Also a little more on the simulation side as it takes a few finishers to actually finish someone. I think 2K14 is a better game vs. this one, but this one is still good.

The showcase mode focuses on Stone Cold.
The roster is the largest ever, including Attitude Era guys that typically haven't made the cut (Savio Vega, Nation of Domination, Haku, etc).
Reversals are now limited so you have to ration them, but also gives you a chance to go wild when your opponent is out of reversals.
Other yearly installment series have come out with less improvements. Get this if you like wrestling.

Really enjoy this game. At first I was unsure of a few changes, but give it a chance. Huge roster. It really FEELS like a wrestling match. You can't just reverse back and forth endlessly anymore. Best wrestling game in years.
Bonus for old school fans listening to "good ole" JR call the matches in showcase mode. One of my favorite modes, reliving some of the best moments from Austin, Taker, McMahon (or as JR says Mr MacMan). Aside from a few minor hiccups here and there this game is solid and worth your time.

Wwe 2k15 was a disappointment in many ways but it seems they listened to the customers. They revamped the reversal and pinning system which is much better now. The graphics are great and the roster is huge. Only complaint i have is the studio creation app for mobile devices is delayed and yet to be released.

Best Wrestling Game for NextGen

This is be far the best WWE/Wrestling game for the NextGen consoles (Xbox One, PS4). It is a pretty challenging game, and the controls are slightly different. Many fans complained about the 'reversal' ability in 2k15, so 2k fixed that in this edition. The roster is really good, and will only get better with upcoming DLC. My son loves it, but it IS a challenging game, unless you set the difficulty to (really) Easy.

Huge improvement over past WWE games. A large roster, career mode now let's you play as you want to play with options that let's you define your character's personality and reversals have changed making you plan on when to use them instead of trying to reverse everything.

The game WWE 2K16 is worth playing just because of the 2K Showcase. This year 2K Showcase follows the career of Stone Cold Steve Austin. The closest to a story mode with great objectives and rewards with audio and video from WWE Archives. The roster is note worthy as your bound to find someone to wrestle as. The return of Jim Ross to commentary is nostalgic and a wonderful addition.
