Play the original on the Wii and while I enjoyed it, it wasn’t one of my favorites. Part of that might be I wasn’t a huge fan of the Wii motion controls in the first place and enjoy a more traditional control scheme. Purchased a sequel shortly after I got a switch light and found myself truly engrossed in the game. I love the story, the look, and the voice acting. I will admit that I am not a huge fan of the combat system as I like either direct control or turn-based.This hybrid auto attacking with inputs control scheme works well enough here as it did Similarly in light of the old republic. So, when this was announced I was very much looking forward to it. And it’s what I expected. A niceUpgrade to the original with a control Scheme more to my liking. Really good story, the graphics are nice if a little blocky and they really nailed the music and voice. A definite must buy for any fans of the original and actually any fan of good quality RPG ‘s. This is one of those series if they can keep their focus and give true world buildingAnd immersive storytelling to every entry this could easily turn out to be the next trails series.

I highly recommend Xenoblade Chronicles especially the Definitive Edition on Nintendo Switch. This is an official Nintendo game with official Nintendo characters, it doesn't get cooler than that! This game is excellent. It does have a bit of a learning curve but that is expected from a JRPG. This game has awesome cutscenes, a big world to explore, great voice acting and now made even better in the definitive edition. They even updated and including new user friendly features and soundtrack. This is a must have title for any Nintendo fan.

    A Solid Return to Xenoblade

This game truly lives up to its title of being the definitive edition of Xenoblade Chronicles. The story and characters are well written and engaging. Not the mention the world itself is beautiful. Some of the side quests are still obnoxious, but the game now gives you a marker showing you exactly where to go which makes things so much easier than they used to be. Overall this is a great game both for returning fans and for people who missed out the first time this game was released.

I haven't beaten the game yet (it is a long game though). I was familiar with it, and have watched play throughs of the original and 3ds versions of the game. I decided to give it a go myself. Despite the resolution issues, the game looks good enough to me. It is definitely not as clear as it could be, but it looks good to me. I play mostly in handheld. The UI looks better than the original, but it is a little cluttered for me. You get used to it, though. The characters look so much better in this than before. The game got an overall major face lift. If you played XB2 or Torna this is a little bit simpler. The story is the same except for the prologue which I haven't played yet (I'm trying to work through the main story first). There are plenty of videos that explain the story if you check on line. I look forward to finishing it. If you like RPGs and MMO-ish games this will be good for you.

The combat is a pain to learn but overall the game is fantastic. My first entry and it definitely made me want to pick up the next Xenoblade game.

Fantastic game. I'm not really into jrpgs much but this game was a bit of a gateway on the switch. Combat is much different than I'm used to but it works. The story and world are both really stunning and beautiful. It takes dozens of hours to even get through the story though. I think I finished with 80-100 hours and it was well worth it.

I've played all of the Xenoblade games so far and this is the best one. The story, graphics, music, and game play are all top notch. This game is massive too. It will take awhile to finish. The characters in this game are all really likeable. I have not played the extra content yet( saving that for when I complete the main game). I you like action rpgs you might like this one too.

Strong Update of a Stunning JRPG

Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition updates what needed to be improved from the original Wii version, namely the visuals. The character designs and visuals have been overhauled for the better. Otherwise, the game has the same strengths of the original (vast zones, an engaging story, and incredible music) but also the same faults. Chief among these is the battle system. While fun overall, it's stuffed to the brim with mechanics. Some will enjoy untangling what makes the battles tick, but I found it tiring for such a long game. Still, the game is heavily recommended as one of the standout RPGs on the Switch.

One of the best JRPGs if you like anime-like art-style. Very good music which I enjoy even when not playing. The graphic quality is a huge improvement from the original Wii version. A lot of fun to play but can take a lot of grinding to get all the cool items and achievements. On the other hand doing the side quests would help character binding which may affect combat and skills. Overall a very good game on the Switch platform in my opinion. I spent over 120 hours without the bonus contents and all post-game missions. To finish all can take 150+ hours.

Played this on the 3ds but never got around to finishing it. This is the version you want. Even if you've played before, you'll love this remaster. Looks so good and it's awesome being able to play on the go or the big screen. Environments are fun to explore, combat is fun, story is good. 10/10

One of the best RPGs released by Nintendo and Monolift Soft in the past 10 years. From the music to the characters to the story, this game is a remarkably memorable experience. The qualify-of-life upgrades (such as all quest items and monsters being immediately available on the map) are highly welcomed additions. I take some small issues with the game, though. - The game uses Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s engine. While the game’s graphics are technically impressive, it looks blurry. I don’t find it anywhere near as egregious as XBC2, it’s still an eyesore at times. - The remastered tracks may or not be for you. Thankfully, you can simply swap it for the original tracks if you want to. The new story scenario will run you roughly seven to ten hours, give or take. Without any spoilers, I’d say it was a pleasurable experience. The new tracks sound great.

I played this game for the first time on Wii about six years ago and it instantly became one of my all time favorites. The setting, story, world design, characters, music, art direction, and combat system all came together to make it one of those games that you will always remember. The only really negative things I can say about a now 10 yr. old Wii game are the SD graphics look bad in some places, especially the character models, and the very basic quest log can make some sidequests a pain. If the graphics and quest structure were the only things to get major overhauls for this Definitive Edition release I would have been satisfied with that. I considered the game near perfect as it was. They aren't though. Extra epilogue content was added, loading times are way faster, menus are cleaner, the user interface is improved. They even took what was one of my favorite video game soundtracks ever and remastered it with mostly amazing results. Put simply, they took an already classic game and made it better. Buy it. If you enjoy games beyond the casual Mario Kart with friends but you've never played it, it deserves your attention. Even if you have played it I consider the upgrade big enough to rediscover why this game is rightfully held up as a cult classic.

Excellent JRPG, one of the best stories in the genre to me. Updated graphics were well done, and probably my favorite video game soundtrack of all time. Buy this game if you appreciate deep RPGs!

This game is still as great as it was when it first came out with a gigantic world, a lot of depth to the world, characters, and gameplay mechanics, and plenty to do in the world. This version improved upon the original considerably by making the characters and animations more fluid and expressive with the graphical updates and allowing for much better tracking and use of the map to make doing sidequests far more convenient. Overall, it looks better and plays more smoothly thanks to these quality of life updates. The game also allows you to choose which soundtrack you prefer which is nice since some of the new songs are better but others not necessarily so.

For newcomers, this version of Xenoblade adds many features that smooths out the experience like vastly improved quest tracking and cleaner user interface. The game was already known for a great story, open-world and likable characters, and the new features only makes the game more accessible. The visual upgrade over the original is also very welcome with new character models and updated textures. For returning players, there is a new epilogue story (accessible from the start) that expands on the story of the original and gives players a new area to explore. If you liked the original game's story, you will probably find the epilogue enjoyable.

Although I wish this game was remade, I wont complain. Graphical upgrades like models, lighting and the addition of normal maps are greatly appreciated. The re-orchestration of most of the soundtrack is great, sadly one song suffered. The quality of life changes are to make the game a less of a hassle to progress.
