Customers are enthusiastic about Xenoblade Chronicles X's stunning graphics, fantastic gameplay, and expansive open world. Many also praised the compelling story and deep combat system, along with the extensive customization options. However, some players found the soundtrack unappealing and the text size too small. A few also mentioned challenges with the controls and the amount of time needed to level up.

Amazing! Expansive! Engrossing! Epic!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is incredible. Not only is the game world massive and completely open for exploration, but the visuals are stunning, the gameplay is interesting, and the story and characters are captivating. In this game, if you can see it, you can literally explore it. Sheer cliffs, high mountains, deep caves, massive valleys; It's all yours to explore and discover! You'll spend the earlier part of the game completely on foot, which really gives you the best idea of the scale of the game world. Eventually there are other methods of transportation which will help get you places faster, which, trust me, will come in handy once you start exploring the far reaches of the game world. It is truly massive. The game world itself is also quite breathtaking. I know many people remark that the graphics of the Wii U are not up to par with the other current generation consoles, which is often quite true, but you don't really notice it in this game. It is BEAUTIFUL! There are zones within this game that I can only compare to the breathtaking scenery of the movie, Avatar. Towering trees, vibrantly colored flowers and shrubbery, glistening waters, immense waterfalls. It's like a feast for the eyes. There's sometimes so much to take in visually that it's hard to notice all of the amazing details. The gameplay is quite unique and original to the series, therefore similar to the first Xenoblade Chronicles game. It is action-oriented, in that you can move around freely and are not restricted to turn-based combat. Your characters will have an auto attack that cycles every few seconds, depending on the weapon being used, and you can throw in "arts" as you see fit. Arts are special attacks and skills that deal increased damage or inflict some kind of secondary effect. These arts are on an individual cooldown, and can be upgraded for further damage, effects, and quicker cooldowns, so they can be used more frequently. There are also things called "Soul Voices" which add to the depth of the combat. As certain conditions are met within battle, such as landing a critical strike, there is a chance for a Soul Voice to activate. These are small windows of time in which your characters can react to one another for added combat effectiveness, such as triggering a heal, a status effect on an enemy, a temporary damage boost, or other such things. Being effective in combat relies heavily on proper utilization of these Soul Voices and timely execution of arts. Once you get to a certain point in the game, you also unlock the ability to use giant mechs/robots, called Skells, which enable you to face stronger, larger enemies. You can enter and exit Skells mid-combat to change up your tactics, and Skells have their own set of arts, based on which weapons are attached. It opens up many more possibilities for combat scenarios. The story is focused on your character and a few main plot characters. While it starts out a bit slow, it eventually becomes more involved and complex, which really draws you into the conflict, and makes you want to see it through to the end. The story will leave you thinking, "Huh?" at times, with several unexpected surprises #unless you read spoilers#, and by the end, you'll be so into it that you'll be left with a slight empty feeling that it's over. Thankfully, the game itself doesn't truly have an end. Even after you complete the main plot, you can continue playing with tons of extra missions, building character bonds, teaming up with other players to take on social/global missions, and various other things. Speaking of character bonds, the characters in this game each have a unique and interesting personality. Some can come across as a bit cliché, but others make up for it by being uniquely scripted and designed. There are adorable little creatures to befriend, silly yet intelligent aliens, and lots of fearsome enemies to go up against. As far as possible party characters, there are plenty to choose from. I'm sure each person has their favorites, and you're mostly free to choose which you team up with. For the main story you are required to have certain characters in your group, and many of the "affinity" missions as well, but for the vast majority of the exploration and normal missions, you are free to take whomever you want. As you group with these characters, creating combos in combat or completing mission objectives, your affinity with them grows. As you develop a stronger connection to each character, you can unlock extra missions specific to that character, which, upon completion, will unlock "signature arts". These are special combat arts that can only be unlocked through creating a strong relationship with the respective party character. The character design itself, in regards to art style, is notably anime-like. The eyes are a bit large, the hair styles can be a bit wild and funky, but there are plenty of "normal" options, as well. If you are a fan of the anime style, then this would be a fun thing for you. But even if you're not a fan, the game itself is great in so many ways that I'm sure you won't be bothered by a few large-eyed characters. There is also a feature in the game that allows you to customize your character's look however you want, anytime you want, just like how you customize it upon first creating your character. It's nice for when you want to try a different look. This feature needs to be unlocked after playing the game a bit, but it's nice to have regardless. You can also customize your character's fashion through a multitude of in-game apparel choices, in case you don't like the look of your current armor. This can be altered from the very beginning of the game, whenever you want. There are also ways to interact with other players, through social missions, as I briefly mentioned above, but I won't get too much into that. Basically, you can recruit up to 3 other players to go on social missions, which are short-but-sweet excursions to slay certain enemies or perform a set of specific tasks. I sometimes wish it had more of a traditional MMO concept, where you could freely group with other players out in the open world, and adventure however you see fit, but at least there is a social option to enjoy at all! If I had anything negative to say about the game, it would be the depth of the tutorial. After entering the game, the "tutorial" scenarios that pop up from time to time only cover the very basics of the game. As far as delving into the deeper features and functions, you're left to searching the large digital manual #easily accessed from the start menu.# In one way it's good that the tutorials are just the basics, but in others it's bad; It helps you get to the meat of the game without a bunch of tedious tasks, but it also makes finding and understanding the finer details a bit more difficult. One other complaint is the music. There are no audio options in this game for tuning things like voice, sound effects, music, etc. Many times in the game, the music will drown out any dialogue that the characters may be speaking, so it's a good idea to have subtitles on to prevent missing anything important. You also might get a bit annoyed with the repetitive music in certain areas, such as the city, but it's simple enough to turn down or mute the TV volume in those few instances. They really should have added options to tune the various audio aspects of the game. Oh, at times, the text can also be a bit small, in certain menus and such. The dialogue text is fine and easily readable, but some of the other texts throughout the game can be difficult to read. I sometimes find myself squinting to try to discern if a piece of gear is +II or +III, etc. It's a small gripe. :) All in all, this game is truly amazing. If you're a fan of RPGs at all, this is definitely one to add to your collection. You won't regret it. At first, the combat may seem a bit slow or boring, but remember that this game eases its players into the true depth of its content. Things pick up pace after playing for a bit, and you really just become engrossed in it. It's a fantastic game with a lot of elements to praise. I personally can't get enough of it, and was actually a little sad when the main story plot finished. At least I have tons of extra stuff to continue doing! I will be playing this game for a long time, and I'm sure you will, too!

Not even close to being as good as its predecessor
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I binge played through Xenoblade Chronicles and absolutely loved the game. I was excited for Chronicles X but the lack of story takes out a lot of soul from the the game. Add to that the fact that you need to play about 30 hours before you can even get your Skell (robot that you can pilot) and it becomes a drag trying to get to the good part of the game. Maybe if I had more time I would enjoy it but there are so many things going on in the game that it becomes overwhelming when you don't have much free time at your disposal.

One of the most disappointing games ever :(
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Been looking forward to this game after finishing Xenoblade Chronicles since its one of the best JRPGs of all time. This game doesn't folllow up with everything that made Xenoblade Chronicles so great. XCX has terrible characters, basic plot, a rap soundtrack, and a world so big but filled with nothing...This is one of the most disappointing things I have ever played.

Most Excellent JRPG
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is way too much to talk about regarding this game; so, I'll keep it quite simple. Exquisitely crafted locales, a decent story, outstanding gameplay, customization and leveling up, excellent battle mechanics, and a huge world to explore make up Xenoblade Chronicles X. Personally, this has become my game of the year. This is a most excellent title that will keep you busy for months! I highly recommend this title to anyone who is a fan of JRPGs, and even to those who are first being introduced to them.

BEST RPG ON WII U!! Top 3 best RPG in 2015!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is absolutely AMAZING! Worth EVERY PENNY! I do not buy FULL Price games! But this one purchased the limited edition and the retail copy! I have been playing over 10hrs of it and had to take a dinner break! But don't let anyone scare you from getting this game- its freaking amazing! Any Wii U owners would understand how awesome this game is! The BEST RPG on WII U today without any question! So here is how I scored this game in these following categories - Story - 9 - The story is great! Also, love the customization to pick your character and who you want traveling with you on your team for missions! You get to pick and choose your class at the beginning of the game! The missions are fun and entertaining and provide you with the backdrop as to how you landed in Mira (planet) Game play - 9.5 - Action RPG but with special Art skills to trigger various attacks, armor, and etc. Graphics 10 - Most AMAZING game on the WII U by FAR! The best graphics on the WII-U! I would put it close if not better than most PS4 games! It looks very AWESOME - Think AVATAR! Sound - 9 - I think the sound is great. People have said that the music is terrible. At parts it gets old but its not as terrible as everyone is making it out to be. You can turn down the volume if its annoying but actually hate RAP, and Dubstep but that's only certain parts of the game not the entire. Controls - 9.5 - You get to utilize the ENTIRE WII U Gamepad! Totally understand how they utilized the Wii U gamepad! Meaning that when you set up your probes and things on the screen you change it via gamepad and fast travel via the gamepad! Its AWESOME! Easy interface and pushing the run does get a little tiresome but otherwise I love using the gamepad with it! Overall - I am giving this is a 9.5/10

Couldn't play more than an hour
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game is kinda bad. General clunkiness with the UI and a whole lot of noise in combat that makes you wonder if you're doing it right. And a lot of really obnoxious loading/cutscenes that make you wait, and they're normally so short you wonder why they even needed to be a cutscene. The thing that made me stop playing was that the game was playing up the character's decision to join the army or whatever. They tour you around and make it clear that it's the character's choice because it comes with some risks. Obviously this is just fluff for the story, but when it actually comes to making a decision, the game presents you with an option to say "no", and then will loop forever until you say yes instead. It's really bad design, and it might sound like a minor point, but examples are everywhere.

Neat Wii U Graphics
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game was very boring. I couldn't stand to play more than a few hours before I gave up. The guy at Gamestop asked me if I finished it. He told me he had yet to find someone that had.

Best experience I have had with a video game!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since I was young and my mom got my two brothers and the first Nintendo (NES) I have enjoyed video games, and not to elongate my history with them, recently they have bored me. Be it the repetitiveness of the platforming, sports, and shooting genres or the obvious cash-grabbing/unhealthily addictiveness of the "free to play" games that make up most the mobile field nothing excites me anymore in the realms of video games... until I got a look at Xenoblade. After first seeing a short video for Xenoblade and checking out newer ones as they came out I started to get excited for this fresh looking new game. Never have I preordered a game before, but this game was the first to ever seem deserving of it (plus BestBuy gave me a $10 ecash for pizza). I could write more about this game, but honestly I just want to go play it (also watch the GameXplain review on YouTube if you want a quality review). To give it a short Pro/Con list with little explanation here you go :) Pros: -Best looking game I have played. The WiiU won't impress anyone with it's power, but the folks making this game at Monolith did everything to make you think the WiiU is a powerhouse. It is so aesthetically pleasing to run to the top of a mountain and look out at the beauty and scope the designers put into this game. BONUS! little to no loading screens. If you download the 4 free packs ahead of time before playing the game literally have next to no loading times and the ones you do are so rare you will forget what the loading screen even look like (maybe a small stretch), but it's seriously amazing and the loading screens themselves only last for like 5 seconds. -SOOO much to do, and it doesn't get overwhelming! -Gameplay = 10/10 would play again. A mixture of all the best aspects of any fighting/RPG with fast pace shorter battles and epic battle with larger monsters/bosses. -Customization: You can customize your character a lot or a little... however you prefer WEAPONS and ARMOR for days: Many different types of everything, and the ability to upgrade, change and .... do other stuff -Censorship: Unnecessary fan service has been taken out of the American release. Some will complain about the "abuse" of censorship and that our American eyes can handle what little censorship was put it, but I applaud Nintendo's decision to edit it. There are other pros, but just watch a legit review for those Cons: - ... um... I don't know yet. Not everything has voice acting?... but well a lot does. Uhh. Probably just that not many folks have Wii Us (How do you pluralize Wii U?) so with the availability of some online play can be limited. Yep that's about all I got
