Decent Projector

This projector is small and has good image quality. It is Full HD and supports HDMI input as well as Bluetooth.
The Bluetooth connection is good but the sound lags. I tried connecting to soundbar via Bluetooth and the audio was about a second behind from the visual. The alternative is to connect it via AUX cord which stops the lagging problem.
If you don't have an external audio device, the sound from the projector is decent. It's going to be fine for a little while but it will never get as loud or as clear as you want it to.
Connecting my laptop via HDMI also presented a problem. The audio from the projector would not function and so I resorted to using the laptop speakers. Apparently, it is an issue with the projector not supporting certain audio sources natively.
The image quality of the projector is also decent. I enjoyed using it and didn't mind that the colors were not true. I have included a picture showing the difference from my laptop and the projector screen. Keep in mind, this was outdoors at night and the laptop has an OLED screen. Certain colors are washed out such as the blues, reds, and oranges in the picture. The whites and blacks are pretty accurate and it takes a lot of fine tuning before you get the image quality you can agree with. The pros are that you can mess around with the brightness, contrast, and sharpness to suit your needs and save that specific profile.
One really positive thing about this projector is how portable it is. It comes with a small backpack so you can transport it anywhere you go. I had it connected to a Jackery solar generator with no issues. I am definitely going to take this projector with me next time I go camping.
I also tested it in the bedroom with the image on a wall and have included that short video clip from YouTube from MKBHD channel. The picture quality is great and the sound is good.
Overall, I really like this projector and would recommend it to someone looking for a portable projector for outdoor movie nights, quick setup in a living room or bedroom, or even camping. I wouldn't recommend to someone looking for the best image quality, best features, or best sound. It is decent all around for the price.

The Yaber Buffalo Pro U9 projector is the perfect family companion for those nice summer nights to bring friends and family together to watch a movie or sports! The portability of this projector is made even more evident the second you open the box and find the projector, remote, cabling, and screen are all neatly tucked away inside a fitted backpack! This was an incredibly well thought out addition to this setup and makes storage and transportation incredibly easy. The build quality is sturdy and the sound quality is pretty good for the onboard speakers, more than enough to allow everyone around to hear what is going on. Setup is very quick and easy, especially with the ability to use Mirrocast, Bluetooth, and Airplay along with the dual HDMI and USB-A inputs! The screen is okay for quick use, but the creasing from being folded can be pretty distracting, I mostly just project onto a lighter colored wall for convenience. Picture quality is very nice for this price point, especially with a slightly dimmer LED lighting system, I could compare it to the laser projector that I use in my cycling pain cave, but that's not even close to a fair comparison (that is a $1000 projector). All together, this is an incredibly all-inclusive system that is ready to roll out of the box and will work with anything you can plug in through HDMI. I can definitely recommend this for family movies outside, quick projecting on a white wall for sports parties, and even a more permanent usage as a kids movie setup. The quality you get for the price is excellent and Yaber sets you up for portable projecting success!

This projector is a great choice for anyone.
The setup is easy. Everything you need except your input device and files is included.
The machine itself looks very nice and is lightweight. The carry case is sturdy with a handle and shoulder straps for versatility.
The included screen is nice for a quick setup, but it is very basic. Just a flat sheet of gray screen. It does a nice job of getting a clear, clean picture however with no frame or way to hang it other than thumbtacks to a wall I consider it a temporary solution. If you have a clear, flat wall surface large enough to view on a screen isn't even necessary.
The remote needs 2 AAA batteries that are not included, you can use the projector without the remote.
There is a focus ring and a keystone ring. Both work great. I was able to get focused into a clear picture from a distance of ~10 ft with no problem at all and the keystone ring allows you to adjust the shape of the rectangle if needed.
The most important feature of a projector is the picture. If you don't get a good picture, the rest doesn't really matter. This projector gives a great picture. It is clear and sharp. Colors are vibrant.
I used my laptop via HDMI cable. There is a multitude of ways to use this projector for viewing videos, photos, or files. With 2 HDMI ports, 2 USB ports, av port and casting from a smart phone.
There is also a headphone jack if you don't want to disturb anyone while using. Although personally I love this for the family movies. For family movies you can add a speaker or soundbar via bluetooth or using one of the HDMI ports.
I'm including photos to show the picture quality on both the included projector screen and just my plain semi gloss painted wall. I did not do anything to remove the folded creases on the screen. If you stretch it out they disappear, but tape did not hold it to my wall for more than a few minutes before it fell to the floor and I didn't want to thumbtack it to the wall. Especially since the picture was still good enough on the plain wall, Not as good, but good enough.
This is a great choice for a projector.

This thing comes with it's own backpack! How cool!

This is the first projector I’ve reviewed that includes it’s own backpack. With portability being a key component of this type of projector, Yaber has done a great job making a uniformly rectangular shell with no frills that is light and compact and easy to travel with, given the cool backpack that comes with it. This focus on portability comes at a cost to the overall picture quality and functionality of the device. That said, I’m not sure that picture quality matters much if your primary use case for this device is weekends outside projecting on the side of a barn or a garage where you aren’t expecting a perfect image and just need to entertain the kids for a few hours without a lot of hassle or fuss.
I’ve attached several photos to this review that show the images produced by the Yaber in my home theater room, projecting on one of my side walls. The Yaber projector is the image on the left. The photos were taken with an iPhone Pro 13 Max, no editing of the images was performed and the video source is a 1080p video from YouTube. Behind the projector is a window that is covered with blackout blinds so I never get perfect dark in this room and you’ll being able to easily tell when I have the blinds open exposing full sunlight into the room vs closed where I still don’t get perfect dark. For more disclaimers about the images, the Yaber’s user guide on page 3 suggests a recommended projection distance between 8.8 and 14 feet but then on page 8 says 10.8 feet is the optimal distance for the projector, which results in an 108” screen size, so that’s what you’re seeing in the photos. I’m also choosing not to use a screen even though the Yaber ships with one, primarily because the screen included is folded and without ironing it first, it has so many creases in it that the resulting images projected on it look like crap and are more of a distraction than it’s worth.
On the right side of the photos is a different 1080p projector with a price tag $300 more than the Yaber. I share this because in my mind it is hard to understand some of the technical specifications if you don’t have a frame of reference to compare them with. For example both projectors are 1080p with 1920 X 1080 native resolution, but the two projectors use different light sources, and light sources are the single most important factor in a projector. The Yaber uses LED. Now LED can be super bright, but the Yaber is not bright at all. Resulting in the Yaber’s image being muted. The projector on the right is a LAMP based 3 bulb design so it’s naturally brighter. The trade off in brightness is that LAMPs don’t usually make for the best portable projection devices and they burn out faster. In these images the projector on the right is set to cinema mode and the Yaber is set to Vivid allowing you to see the difference between a low powered LED light source and a 3 LAMP system. If you read the spec sheets for the Yaber, the Yaber has a contrast ratio of 1,500:1. I don’t know what Contrast Ratio means, but the projector on the right has a contrast ratio of 16,000:1. Now when you compare 1,500:1 on the left with 16,000:1 on the right the numbers start to make more sense: higher contrast ratios result in higher image quality and when the image is brighter these details matter. On a darker image you won’t notice contrast ratios as much.
I had a number of technical problems with the Yaber and worked with support on trying to get this resolved before posting. The end result is more of me shifting my expectations than the Yaber being broken but consider the following before deciding to purchase this projector. The box the Yaber ships in advertises “Widely Compatible” showing a Roku and an Amazon TV Stick as being devices that work with the Yaber’s 2 HDMI ports. There’s an internal speaker in the Yaber as well so in a small enough space (certainly not outdoors) you can get away with not adding speakers. The first thing I connect to the HDMI port is an Amazon Fire 4K TV stick. I could get video, but never any audio to play from any source on the Amazon Fire 4K TV stick running the devices latest firmware even though connecting this same device to my TV proved the device was working correctly. I removed the Amazon Fire 4K TV stick and tried with the latest generation Nvidia Shield TV and had the same problem: video was fine, but I could never get any audio to play. I tried Disney+, Netflix, Hulu, AppleTV, Amazon Prime, even my local Plex server. Nada. Yaber supported suggested I try a laptop. When I connected a Windows 11 laptop via HDMI audio and video worked properly playing on either the projectors internal speaker audio and after connecting an external speaker to the projector using the audio out headphone jack on the projector. There are various other steaming devices so perhaps yours will have better results if you go that route.
One of the other tests I tried was loading a number of movies in MKV format onto a USB stick and trying to play from the USB stick. While the user manual for the Yaber tells you it supports MP4, MPG, or MKV, the manual fails to mention the supported audio codecs. The result was that the movies would play with no audio and display an error about unsupported Audio. In my interactions with Yaber support, hey clarified that the movies need to be encoded using AAC, MP2, MP3, PCM, FLAC, or WMA for playback. Once I tried a few movies with the supported audio encoding all was well with playback.
One more tip: If you plan to use this projector by sitting it on something instead of ceiling mounting it, you’ll need 25 inches off clearance from the ground because the projector lens points straight out and is not angled. While the unit does have an adjustable foot pad to raise the projector, it simply could not be adjusted high enough with less than 25 inches of clearance. In these photos the projector is sitting on a bar stool.
I think it's great that we’ve reached a point in the technology where projectors can be made to be both inexpensive and portable and the Yaber tries to balance this requirement without too many sacrifices.

Projector that doesn't live up to it's potential

I really wanted to like this projector, it has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and HDMI connections, so one should be able to use it with many different devices. Unfortunately I was not able to use it as expected.
I have an iPhone 12 and an iPad Air that is only about a year old. Both running IOS 15.6. I verified that the projector was running the latest firmware and no updates were available. I tried to connect both devices via Bluetooth, but could not get either of them to connect. So then I tried screen mirroring and then I was able to connect. So I used my Netflix app and tried to play a movie. When playing a movie on either device it would act like screen mirroring was working until I hit play on the movie. Then the screen would freeze, but the audio would play. No luck again.
The next thing I tried was to use my HDMI to Lightning cable adapter. It works fine with my TV and other projector, but not with this one. I can now play the movie and get the picture, but no sound. Both devices worked the same. Picture but no sound.
So now I get out the windows laptop running Windows 11. Plug the HDMI cable in to the laptop and now I can get picture and sound. I would guess any other device that uses just the HDMI cable would be fine.
The set-up worked reasonably well. I set the protector on a table about 2.5 feet off the ground and then put a couple books under it to point it up. Then I adjusted the corners of the displayed image one corner at a time. That system seems to work fairly well.
Once I had the picture nice and rectangular and fairly well focused, I noticed that the screen does not focus evenly across the screen. I could not get the whole screen in focus. I had my table in the middle of the screen, so it should have been in focus.
It does come with a screen, but no way to attach it to anything and no way to keep it flat, so the screen is not real helpful. You may as well just project onto a blank wall or a sheet.
After all these negative things, there are a couple of positives. The remote works well, the volume is not bad for a projector, it comes with a backpack style travel case. Adjusting the screen works best using the keypad on top of the projector, but seems to work well.
If you are looking for a projector to use with our iPhone or iPad, keep looking, this one isn't for you. I can't speak to Android or other devices, but a laptop running windows is probably fine.
It does display 1080p, but the contrast is very low, so you are not going to get a stellar picture, but it isn't too bad. I projected onto a 104" screen and the picture was ok.
I'm attaching a picture of the screen mirroring set-up screen. Take a look at the upper left corner and you can see that the words are not focused very well.

What a great surprise upon opening the box. A small backpack to transport my new projector. How thoughtful. The lightweight unit has everything, even a vinyl screen that fits in the pack.
I di need to provide a set of AAA batteries for the remote, but that's okay because I use rechargeables in most everything today. Speaking of the remote, it was difficult for me to open the battery cover. I see that as a slight annoyance, since the plastic case seems rather thin for such a great piece of electronics. Nuff said ON THAT.
Set up was really rather simple and straightforward. For those who have set up a projector before, you'll have no trouble. The on-screen menu walks you thorough what you need to know. Newbies the manual is there to walk you through it. If all else fails, there is a lifetime professional help line curtesy of the manufacturer.
Keystone setting was fast and perfect, allowing for both vertical and horizontal adjustments. High resolution video crystal clear. Even audio can be projected. I used Windows + K MIRACAST to send the signal wirelessly to the projector from my "Predator Gaming PC". Focus and major zoom is easy with the large tactile knobs to fucus the image on the screen. There is a small bottom foot in the middle of the projector's front is a book isn't handy enough to prop the unit up off the table top.
Four modes of projection are available. Ceiling or table mount, front or rear screen projection. The projector can handle the image reversal and/ or spin it on its head (upside down). The remote can handle the tasks that are available by nice touch keys on the projectors cabinet. Rear ports for audio, two(2) HDMI jacks, A USB drive connector, headphone output jack.
Super great feature from the USB-drive, WORD, PowerPoint, EXCEL all display without a computer. So take your presentations with you without the need for a PC. Native photo and music also available from the USB-drive. I give safety tutorials so this will come in handy.
Network connection is simple too via Wi-Fi. Best of all everything packs up in the neat little backpack. Everything is always there where and when I need it.

The picture this projector puts out definitely looks like a respectable 1080P image and the brightness was definitely more than some of the cheap mini projectors you'll find just below this price point. That being said this is a typical projector that you should run at night or in a dark room. Overall colors looked good and I didn't feel like I was missing any detail in the image even in dark scenes. It's not going to be a 4K HDR image but if you're looking for a fun outdoor projector this one won't disappoint.

Purchased this for kids watching movie on a large screen and it is great for it. I was able to set it up in less than 10 mins and cast directly from my phone to the big screen. The kids were excited about watching their movies on the big screen in good 1080p quality. The projector is easy to adjust and has the needed angle adjusters to level off the base so the projection isn't tilted. Overall very happy with the purchase and would recommend for others.

The projector is amazing! It has many good features but most importantly the projector screen is amazing! Works the best in the dark . It doesn't show much in the light as expected . The sound quality is the best , almost like a movie theater . Another thing is it's quick and easy to set up . Overall it's perfect.

I wanted a budget 1080p for backyard movie nights. This one suits the purpose perfectly. Decent picture quality and supported formats and pretty good brightness too. I haven’t tried it during daytime, so not sure how will it fare when there’s additional light sources. But suits the purpose for now.

I bought this projector 1 year ago and I have zero complaints. Displays clear sharp images for a great viewing experience. And has seamless Bluetooth connectivity when connecting speakers and other audio devices. It is also dust proof so I have not experienced any dust on the lens. And I also like that it comes with 2 HDMI ports. A great product for a reasonable price

I LOVE my projector! I have recommended it to my friends and family and I’m hoping to buy another one soon. The quality is so good these pictures don’t even do justice to how good the image quality is. It was easy to set it up, I just connected it to my fire stick, linked it to my amazon account and download all my desired apps for free. Within 10 mins I was ready to watch movies and play music on youtube. The sound quality is amazing I was thinking I’d have to add a speaker but I didn’t. Overall, I’m amazed at how well this projector works and wish I have gotten it way sooner. 100% recommend!! The customer service staff are super nice too I contacted them to register the product and get warranty information. They were super prompt to respond and easy to communicate with. Super happy customer here!

I recently purchased the U9 Video Projector after thorough research and comparison, and I must say, it has been a fantastic choice. The sleek design, accompanied by a convenient backpack for easy transportation and a projector screen, adds to its appeal. Setting it up is a breeze, and it quickly turns on without any delay. The fan operates quietly, and the picture quality is impressive, with clear and sharp visuals, even in a moderately lit room. For sound, I utilize my external Boss speaker, and it works perfectly for movie-watching. Overall, the U9 projector is a worthwhile investment, and I am delighted with my decision to choose it. I highly recommend it to others seeking a user-friendly and high-quality projector for entertainment purposes.
