Yakuza: Like A Dragon
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is an absolute treat for turn-based RPG fans and includes lots of little references and nods to the giants of the genre. You don't really need *much* prior knowledge of the previous Yakuza games despite this being the 7th mainline entry, but fans who have played through Kiryu's story will appreciate the references.

A unique game that will stick with you

Best Yakuza game
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yakuza: Like a Dragon blew my expectations away with how good of a JRPG it is. This is a must buy for Yakuza fans even for those who still prefer action games. Like a Dragon makes a strong case for why turn based RPGs are still incredible.

An open mind to all things brings peace.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. An admirable and daring change of pace for a beloved series that for the most part hits all the right notes. Yakuza Like a Dragon is absolutely a Yakuza game through and through. While the jrpg elements are more than prevalent and hold everything together, the true star of the game is the story. Ichiban as a main character is unique and different from the infamous Kiryu and that’s a good thing. He is stoic at times, explosive, cocky when he needs to be but always strives to do the right thing with nobility in his heart. He’s a wonderful character and I’d love to see more of him in future games. The job system is unique, the turn based battles are fast enough although there are a few quality of life improvements that can be made. It’s clear that RGG Studios went out on a limb here and they’re trying to get their longtime fans on board with their experiment. If you are a Yakuza fan then you’ll find a lot to love here. If you’re new to the series and love the idea of playing an rpg with classic jrpg elements then you’ll no doubt enjoy it as well.

Yakuza: Like a Boss

Great game with steelbook for half off.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great game for those new to the series who are not coming in with a bias to the older combat system. I am newer to the series so take that how you will but I enjoyed this game and was happy BB included the Steelbook with purchase. Picked up on sale for about half off and well worth it.

Worth the purchase
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Making this yakuza game turn based compared to the same combat style the other 6 mainline games have been was a ballsy move. But man did RGG studios pull it off. This is by far my favorite yakuza game to date and I cannot wait to see what the next installment in the yakuza franchise will be.

Yakuza gets a new beginning as a JRPG
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The long running Yakuza series gets a fresh start as a full fledged, turn based JRPG with a brand new main character and story. Old fans will enjoy the new style given to Yakuza's fun combat, and new fans are free to jump in right here without worrying about catching up. Highly recommended.

Great JRPG!
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What an amazing JRPG! The combat and class system is highly addictive! There are a ton of side quests, activities, and mini-games to get lost in; and the story and characters are absolutely amazing! This is must-play for JRPG fans!

Worth giving a shot for Yakuza Fans and RPG fans
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No frills RPG. Keep in mind this isn't the beat-em-up Yakuza from past games, but this is a great first effort by the developers- but with a fantastic and engaging story and homages and links to the prior Yakuza games- this is well worth playing.

Great transition for the series!
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After playing Yakuza 0-6 I wasn't sure if I would like the change in gameplay to an RPG, but I was amazed by this game. This is probably one of my favorite job systems I've used. Kasuga, being very expressive, is a great change of pace from Kiryu. There are plenty of side activities still and a very large map. The completion list was changed to a request system that show up later in the game. My only real complaints are that several features aren't available until a few chapters into the campaign: job changing, 'completion list', etc; and how the AI responds to obstacles during combat (they will attempt to take a straight line route to targets and do not navigate around obstructions). The AI will eventually recognize a character is stuck and reposition them, but it is mildly annoying. On the upside, the PS4 copy comes with a free PS5 upgrade; save data does not carry-over between versions.

Yakuza 5
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A different take on the Yakuza series with turn based action instead of the usual button mashing style. Don't be fooled by the new control system this is still your charming Yakuza game filled with humor. Buy it and see if you like it. I know I did.

Continuing the Yakuza Franchise
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like A Dragon continued the story where Kiryu left off. It takes the magic of the previous franchise, and gives it a new spin. While it may not include previous loved characters (Kiryu, Majima) — it makes up for it in a wacky and fun story that’ll keep you glued to your TV.

Yakuza the JRPG
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the best JRPG's I've played in a while. You heard me. This is a JRPG!! Unlike the previous Yakuza games before it, the battles are turn-based like a Dragon Quest game, but much more action packed. Great story as well. Ichiban is a great character.

Enjoyed this game
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.THe physical game itself arrived in good condition along with the steelcase deal that was active when I purchased it. The game itself is a lot of fun. It's a good derivative from the Yakuza series and holds on its own as a JRPG as well as any other.

New Direction for the Yakuza series
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What's better than a Yakuza game? A Yakuza turn based RPG with a fantastic English dub cast. Amazing narrative combined with a classic style of gameplay, what else could you want?
