Have been a longtime user of Yamaha A/V units and strayed to an Onkyo. Unit lasted 18 months and crapped out. Bought this unit and it is what I have come to expect from Yamaha. Simple set up. Any and all needed functions. Terrific sound and amplifiers. Good remote and a very capable app to control and stream just about anything. Should never have strayed in the first place.

I bought a Marantz first time around and for some reason could not get good full effect of surround sound. Someone in the A&V business told me to buy a Yamaha and wow amazing difference!! I've got a huge family room 25x18 and its like being in my own giant theater great for Movies and sports and incredible for music!!!!!

We selected the 735W 7.2 channel received based on the recommendations from our consultation with the Best Buy specialist. It is an excellent receiver and we now have no problems with the sound going in & out. We are very pleased with this receiver!

I purchased this Yamaha receiver to go with my Klipsch 52II home theater speaker system that I had also recently bought. The sound is totally awesome !! I couldn't be happier. It's exactly what I was hoping to achieve. Great Yamaha receiver !!

Installed manually. Was not difficult. Sounds good. Cable box has audio dropouts, worse on Dolby. This appears to be the cable box itself.

I like this receiver as much as I disliked my Pioneer Elite VSM 63. It was very easy to set up and performs very well. it is much more intuitive than the Pioneer.

Music follows you no matter where you are in the house or outside the house. Great stereo system. We are very happy with our purchase. We use this unit only for audio.

Product works and sounds excellent. Using it to power 6 speakers in bedroom, attached to a Sonos Connect. Too many features to even begin to consider.

Replace Denon receiver with this. Mainly for the high end HDMI connection. Easy to set up; love the seamless integration with my smart tv.

Received was installed by the Geek Squad and they trained me on use. So far, so good.

Like my previous Yamaha purchases the sound quality is excellent. I especially like the Yamaha app and Airplay features.

I bought this receiver to replace an older Yamaha model that was damaged in a lightning strike (I guess the $150 Monster surge protector that it was plugged into was useless). Anyhow, I seriously can't believe how much better the sound quality is from this receiver. I have B&W 600 series speakers and this receiver really gets the most out of them. I have noticed significant improvements in both sound for TV watching and music. One of the most noticeable improvements is actually the zone 2 sound. My old receiver almost sounded "hollow" from my Klipsch deck speakers, and I always just attributed it to the speakers. The sound from the RX-A740 is much fuller and rich sounding. The smart phone remote ap is a really nice plus as well. I really appreciate the fact that I can be outside on the deck and able to adjust the station / volume without having to go back inside to do it.

We needed to hook up several speakers to this, and it works and sounds perfect!

I have bought 2 of these receivers and the are easy to set up. Ilove the connectivity and android phone as remote.

I have only had the unit for a few weeks. It was an open box item which I got for a fabulous price. I needed to replace my 25 year old Sony receiver and this one seemed to be perfect. I have barely scratched the surface of the innumerable things it is apparently capable of doing but so far I am quite pleased.

I had the Yamaha Aventage RX-A730 but had a warranty claim on it and when Geek Squad couldnt' fix it after a month, they offered a replacement. Apparently the A730 has been discontinued (naturally) but they upgraded me to the A740 (thank you Customer Service!!) and it has been great. Just as good as the A730 that I had for 8 months plus some extra features. If you either don't have the money for a Denon or don't like the Onkyo units, or even if you're torn between an Onkyo and the Yamaha, get the Yamaha RX-A740. You'll be glad you did.

Bought this to replace my older Yamaha receiver. I was very receptive to buying a different brand (Denon and Marantz) but decided to stick with Yamaha as I found it is better for music and at least as good as the others for movies etc. Also, the yamaha just feels like it's built better.

We purchased a surround sound system, but did not know what we wanted. The in store staff was very helpful and directed us to this system. We had Best Buy install the system and couldn't be happier. All the electronics operate with a single remote, that we didn't have to purchase as an extra. The installer was fantastic!! We had to call the installer a couple of days after the installation and he didn't hesitate to help us again.

It's a Yamaha. Great features, easy and all around fantastic. Bite the bullet. You won't be sorry
