Q: My Yamaha Amp Model: RX-A740BL volume is very low while watching movies
A: I have a Samsung Curved 4k and I can select external speakers in the TV setup menu. I would think you can do the same with your Sony. I haven't noticed the amp being too quiet.....I just raise the volume till I like it. Sorry I haven't noticed how far it is up, but I do know I can get the house shaking if I go too far, without distortion. Hope this helps.

A: Page 111 in the manual specifies how to change from 8 ohm to 6 ohm. According to the manual when you select 6 ohm you can also use 4-ohm speakers as the front speakers. You download a manual at the Yamaha web site.
